Hi! I'll be sitting for da SPM this year. I've been reading thru all the previous posts here...quite a lot 2 go thru! :) Kinda helpful, I now know more about the complicated process of applying for the JPA scholarships. My questions here are:

a) Someone mentioned sumthing about US unis that are on the Top Ten JPA List. Where do I find this Top Ten List thing? Does this apply to UK as well?

b) I intend to do Economics or Accountacy in US/UK. Which is easier to get (the scholarship)? Econ US, Econ UK, Acc US or Acc UK? I simply can't make up my mind, and I know JPA doesn't allow multiple choices.

c) Anyone from LSE, Cambridge or Oxford Uni here? I'd like to get in touch and ask u a couple of questions  please help if u know of any of these uni's alumni. I really am desperate!

d) If I'd like to go to the US, is it compulsory to take TOEFL and SAT?

e) IF I get the JPA scholarship, what will I be doing b4 I further my studies abroad? Take a Foundation Program or A-levels at UiTM?

f) IF I don't get the JPA, I plan to do my A-levels at a private college. I've seen all the scholarship options posted here in this forum. (Bank Negara, Securities Commision etc...) What do you do and when? Write to them or call? Any time of the year? While I'm doing my A-levels or after I've got my results or after I've got conditional /unconditional offers?

g) Haha. Final Question. I noticed that in this year's ad for 2003 SPM candidates, JPA doesn't offer a course for law. Is this true?

Thanx so much. Hope help comes ASAP!

I will try my best to answer your questions.
As for question b)
Accountancy are consider as critical course and the demand for our nation is pretty high and hence i think the JPA will consider sending more students for accountancy course. By the way, you still have a chance to change your course just in case you do not want to pursue accountancy course.

Question e)
Of course you are going to have preparation in Malaysia before studying abroad.

Question f)
Just keep on track on the newspaper after Septermber. Mostly the scholarship will be announced in The Star paper, Utusan malaysia, and NST. Government scholarhip or any company related to government usually publish their scholarship in Utusan Malaysia and NST.

If you are targeting for JPA. My final advice for you is to choose the correct subject combination for the course you intend to pursue. You better get a list of the subjects combination that required for certain course. If not you might end up giving up your favour course.
