From Chinese belief, concentrated duck/kampong chicken soup with a few pieces of ginseng will help to boost the brain power.

I find this dose effective personally especially before exams. Maybe the protein gives the energy stamina to withstand stress, hard work and the ginseng - perhaps those elements required by the brain? It works and it is hard to explain.

From what I have read up/gathered so far (health products are promoting), foods rich in OMEGA 3 especially, OMEGA 6, 9 are good for the brain. That is why deep sea fish which are rich in OMEGA are good for brain development.

My mother is a great believer of breastfeeding. Mother's milk contains OMEGA 3 and that is why mother's milk is very important for infant's brain optimum development. Cow milk is for cow, not for human and even when OMEGA 3-6 is being added to infant formula, the infant may not be able to absorb as this is not natural.

When a baby is born, the brain is about 60% (cannot remember the exact %) developed. That is why the head of the infant is so big when compared to the body. Hence, at this stage, infant brain development is very important.

Ginko (to increase brain memory), etc., I cannot remember the other names now are brain foods to increase brain concentration.

low carb foods are good for brain, because it helps you keep counting, thus making your math better.
So eat Subway stuff, eat fresh.

[Are you with Subway?]

Unofficially [that means no].

[do you eat subway sandwiches?]

hell no. i dont count carbs, eeiiuu, it's lame. atkin's friendly, low carb beer, low carb soda, low carb candy, low carb this low carb that..... shut your low carb ass up.

The 'placebo effect' does play a major role in making you think that you feel better too...especially since eating is a very enjoyable hobby, at least for me....

Maybe digress a little bit here.
But Alzheimer disease drug and other drugs that cure memory loss can also improve brain efficiency.

you have company!
Btw i once heard on the radio of a study which found that dieters scored lower on some tests (can't remember IQ or what) after they started dieting compared to before. they speculate it's because dieters are preoccupied with what they eat and that expends a fair bit of brainpower.
is that plausible?

My advise: Eat fish. That's what my dad told me since I was small. Fish are rich in omega and most of it are concentrated at the flesh below the eyes. That's what I read before but I'm not very sure.

Malnutrition, especially early in life, does affect IQ significantly. Studies have been done on this. This is part of how 'the rich become richer and the poor poorer'. I read about these studies in a book called 'Rich Christians in an Age of Hunger' by Ronald J. Sider. The book is a call to eradicate income inequality worldwide. I would highly recommend it.

Unfortunately, I've just given my only copy away, so I can't tell you which studies he quoted. You should be able to find a copy in your library though.

Yeah... i dunno whether if it's just superstition, but my grandaunt used to tell me that eating fish is good for brain... And steam fish is the best. Less fat, more proteins. But i still love curry fish!

in one of my research materials, it is found that fish is NOT brain food... hehe... the reason fish is considered brain food is that there was once phosphorus is accidently discovered in fish, coincidently, at that time the brain is also known to be made mostly of phosphorus. Thus come the myth, fish is brain food. however, fish has only a small amount of phosphorus, compared to other sources. About Omega, i think that might be the reason... studies shows that Omega 3(i think) could improve brain efficiency and growth. But not all fish have it. I think tuna have lots of it... hehe, i luv tuna...

It would be best if you don't cook the fish at all (ala Japanese)...

No lost amino acids! Mailard reactions, whatever...

It is Gingko Biloba. From what I know, it is used to treat mental illness.
Below is a brief introduction of it. You can get more info about it from search engine google.
