ReCom is current undergoing changes!
Right now, we are trying to identify areas in ReCom that we should expand on in order to reach new heights. So, we want your ideas on the direction and how ReCom should grow. Yes, you read it right, we need your ideas!
So, what do you have in mind? Special titles for major ReCom Wiki contributors? The return of the chat box? Better looking front page? Revival of ReMag in various forms?
So what are you waiting for? Fire it all out, we want to know!
Every idea posted here will be given consideration by the ReCom Team. Accepted ideas will be refined, and the results will be posted some time later in this thread.

i hv a suggestion. I would like to rope in a few of my uncle and friends' parent who are working as a professional such as quantity surveyor working in Contract Procurement Dept in an international oil company, another is a marine insurance investigator working in S'pore to participate as a career guidance advisors in our recom.org.
Purpose is to give us insights of what their jobs responsibilities are, so that students who wishes to take up these courses can hv more in depth understanding of their career options.

I believe a lot of students want to know how their dream job will feel like in real life. And this will definitely help them to decide whether to pursue the course, or not, in the end =) *slots into the proposed masterplan*

Surely you haven't forgotten the reason why we took it down in the first place. It kept bringing the entire site down. Recom was out of commission for days.

I think that some sort of formal representatives from Colleges and Universities would be great too.

Since we don't have much resources on our hands, we couldn't fix it until now.

What do you have as a vision? Are they going to be members here and answer questions like the rest of the forum members, or are they going to provide a Q&A type information somewhere in the forum?

Here's an example of how representatives would work:
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1476441&p=2#r27
This guy is working for Optus a telco company and he gives responses, answer enquiries and acts on them. There are a few of them from each company if I'm not mistaken.

1st of all, these professional need to sign-up as members like us. We shld grouped them under a common title named " career advisors " then sub-categorises them into different professsion eg: "Quantity surveyor in Oil & Gas Industry" or "Diaries of a QS" etc..
This is only a suggestion, not sure if the adults are interested or willing to spend too much time in our blog though...

I think the career advisors thing is a splendid idea!
Of course, this would be subject to the career advisors being able to make the commitment. =P If they're interested, I don't think they need to be too active. What I was thinking was maybe each career advisor could create a topic containing some background information on their respective careers, and then periodically check back to see if anyone has posted any questions so they can answer them.

To have special corner for advertisement related to education in order to collect some fund for Recom activities or enabling some advertisement banners, surveys
be it academically or behavioural related to youth or adolescent problems or issues e.t.c..

Actually I'm having a touch time navigating ReCom these days due to the myriad advertisements already :D (maybe that's part of getting older) Hopefully those can be organized nicely so that it doesn't get in the way of the real threads.
Personally I wish to see ReCom playing a bigger role in engaging people to speak good English, or Malay. I don't know if a basic spell check feature or grammar check feature would suffice, or we can build a feature that show the top 10 best post of the week (can be based on language or simply the number of people thanking)

Advertisement placement will be reconsidered for our next upgrade
I believe most browsers do support basic spell checking for whatever users are typing into textboxes. As for grammar checks, I don't know of any software that we can use to integrate into vBulletin at the moment.
The Best Threads/Best Posts of the week/month is being considered to be implemented into the next iteration of ReMag (more information will be provided if there are enough questions about it.

Is it possible to add in buttons that will allow us to instantly share the thread or post through twitter, facebook and others? This feature is currently available in most of the major websites, such as lifehacker, BBC. This does not just provide convenience to share things, but most importantly increases the exposure of Recom to the others via sharing through powerful social sites.
I do not know whether it is feasible technically though, just a suggestion. :)
About the advertisement, it can be placed at both sides at the margin (those areas in dark blue), so that they are not obstructive, and can generate the much needed income. And another idea here, most of the non-commercial websites have an option for users to donate money. I know this is not common in Malaysia, and I doubt that M'sian will be willing to donate money. Again, there is this technical issue, which will require something like Paypal to setup a donation system.

I love your suggestion on the Twitter/Facebook sharing buttons! I'll nudge our technicians/developers about it and see what they can do. =)
By the way, we DO have a Paypal account for the purpose of donations, but I guess we haven't been advertising it enough, LOL. =P Yeah, we'll also be ironing out the funding issues soon, so stay tuned!

Lol. I never knew that we can donate to Recom. (although at the moment I do not have enough cash. :P)
Anyway, I hope to do something for Recom. If the sharing button is out, I'll be helping to tweet the thread/post in no time. :)

I do not know whether it is feasible technically though, just a suggestion. :)Twitter and Facebook buttons are up and should be usable now. I'll check out other sites to see which social bookmarking services are popular out there right now.
