testing flaws in view topic, everyone that reads this hit Refresh button on your browser buttons as many time as you want.

yup, i think how many time this had been viewd is based on how many time the page was loaded not unique user that see this page.

By unique user i mean unique IPs. Time for a new scipt.. anyone wants to code?

yeah, i agree... may be if possible, have the code be one view per topic per log in, but i think generally people do not simply just hit the reload button right? anyone tend to do so? sometimes, when there is a flurry of forum discussion, we do go into the same topic again, after another person logs in, so how would that count?.. Sorry, for just commenting on general issue, as i do not know much about the code, believe that masterofnone, bachok or littlebigone would be able to reply to u...

Just been busy raking the leafs outside.. i have a huge yard that i had to rake all myself. To bad none of you guys live around, or else you all be more then welcomed to rake it for me for free :)

Anyway the best way is to Unique IP view. I already refresh couple of hundred times to open some eyes.. of this flaw.

Also i would suggest Bachok to setup a fly trap because i just abused the server by refresing 100 times a minute and didn't even get my IP banned. So franly speaking a DDOS would be very easily accomplished.

thirdshifter, so what's ur opinion on those who view it the second time on the same log in, say after someone has posted a reply... may be we could all suggest the framework, so that those who code would be easier to code..

To be honest i have no clue what codes are being used for the DB. but if its customizeable i'm sure i could come up with something.

Maybe we should clarify first what we want "number of views" to portray. I think based on Thirdshifters arguments, it should tell us the number of unique visitors to the forum topic. Is that right? Maybe I interpreted u wrongly.

I think that it should be the sum of all unique views for whenever a user sees a new state of the forum. THat is to say, only increment a the counter if a user is visiting a forum and the forum has at least one new message.
