If you were an electrical or electronic engineer, what would you design or create or improve any electrical and electronic stuffs to help your daily life or the world at large? May it be small or large..

I will design a built in printer inside my laptop so that I dont need to go back home to do printing job. Then some upgrading for the current Centrino technology to increase more its current 3-4 hours life on battery. I think 8 hours will do.

oh, helping the world doesn't mean u need to invent some good things for the world... Well, first, to help the world, u need to help fight poverty.... Go to the third world countries like Haiti, Cuba, Peru... U'll see most of them can't even afford a small TV or a fridge...

Find other cheaper resources (i.e. raw materials, labor, processing cost) to reduce the overall price of the electronic goods... Make sure that the goods do not fall into the monopoly of rich nation... make sure those third world countries got it at the cheapest price u can afford....

That, u are making the world a better place to live... Even though the rich gets richer, the poor doesn't get poorer...

ok...some small things that I've thought of/told to me by frenz:

1. for a start perhaps a laptop screen which can be moved up and down, so your screen faces you at eye-level?

2. also, a device in the car to show the front-tyre direction, easier to do parking and also know if your tyres are facing the correct way?

that's all i can think of now =)

Sorry, coz i was too caught up in the assignment that states "to help creating a better life or a better world"

And of course the role of engineer is not limited to only designing and inventing stuffs.... That's more like making a more convenient world.... unless u define better life/world that way :wink: (caught up with the notion "the only nation is humanity" from Mountains Beyond Mountains, Tracy Kidder)...

Ok, here's what i think... Some of us may be forgetful at times that when we leave our rooms, we leave the lights and the fans on.... Perhaps we can have a heat scan that scans the room every 5 minutes... when there's no presence of body heat in the room, all the electrical appliance system will be switched off... Save electricity bill?
