The original look of the building has been obscured by all the adverts. Plus, it looks ugly...

thanks...should i say it was a new shopping centre where it was full of those soft drink and fast food companies which causes the residents nearby to eat unhealthily??

Is this a school work or are you really writing to the Chinese authority? :)

I seriously think of nothing when I seen the picture yesterday. And after 24 hours of staring at it, I still cannot help to notice anything weird. What's wrong with the picture?

You could try writing a letter regarding the dangers/pervasion of shopping/consumerism, which cause(s) the erosion of traditions and the sense of belonging (many will beg to differ however). For example, how the corporate signage might negatively affect the local culture.

Enough - Anti Consumerism Campaign http://www.enough.org.uk/
Jihad vs. McWorld http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/1992/03/jihad-vs-mcworld/3882/

Hope this helps.

Another theme could be the social function of a shopping centre. This place is obviously dominated by food and beverage industry, and they would probably be much better off with some other elements like fitness, health, arts etc.

probably i would start off by saying that a new shopping centre was set up nearby a residential area. As a result, it attracts many fast food(KFC) and beverage (soft drink) companies to post their advertising here to entice costumers around the area.( or may be set up their branches in this shopping centre too)

Consequences: 1)residents nearby are likely to have their dinner there rather than having their home-cooked male.
2) teenagers and children begin showing a trend to eat unhealthily
3) teenagers also start to play truant and enjoy shopping here
4) due to the set up of this shopping centre, they always purchase more than they wanted.

Solution: government actions need to be taken.....?

LOL... ESL paper... You seriously went to look for this picture.

I didn't have time to complete my listening section. Didn't manage to copy my notes on time. :cry

I couldn't think of anything when I saw this picture, so I did the letter regarding teenagers instead. Even THAT I still feel insecure, wondering if I'm being sensitive to the text or not...
