After a series of court standings, Oracle finally made it in taking over PeopleSoft :

Looks like companies these days becoming fatter and fatter. The bigger gets bigger, the smaller get swallowed by companies like Microsoft, Oracle.
Larry had made a huge gamble in bringing this case to the court. At least he tried, and he made it. A huge pat on the back to him.
Poor PeopleSoft.
I seriously don't think this is a good development. Granted that the software business today has already matured and there's a stiff competition even between big companies (like the paranoid Microsoft try to do everything, produce lots of junk (except their windows and Office) like Win Tablet PC and make people pay for ridiculous amount of money. (who use tablet PC anyway).
I seriously think that we need to foster competition, to get more creative ideas. For example, Google with its great search and 1G Gmail.
