I'm a JPA scholar who's going to register myself at KBU soon on 1 July.
There are a few Qs in my head and I need someone who can help me.
Others who have Qs too can post it here for references.

Q1: How is it in the hostel for girls? What will they supply us? Do they have a kitchen?

Q2: What do students usually wear for classes? (for girls)

Q3: Can students dye their hair thr? Any strict rules about it? Any colours are forbidden?

Q4: Is thr a canteen in the college? How's the price n the quality of the food? Are thr many choices?

Here r the few Qs which bothers me. Hope U guys can help me! :)

LOL, although I am not a KBU student myself (currently at KDU, the neighbour :P) but I can answer question 4 for you. I've been to KBU campus before, there is a cafeteria there, not sure about the food quality but some of my seniors there complain the food is only mediocre. You will notice that outside your college, just about 200m walk is Center Point, a relatively small shopping center with some good eateries (it might be expensive, because these are mall eateries). Also, next to it is a 24-hour McD outlet :laugh If you do have a car, then you will be even happier because your campus is about a 5min drive away from the 1Utama shopping center (3x bigger than Center Point) that houses teenager shopping & entertainment haven :wink Be mindful that BU (Bandar Utama) is a pricey place, so be prepared to spend a lot more on meals. Hawkers sorry, not many nearby as far as I know of. Hope all this information helps. :)

Hi! Thanks for the infos :) Erm, how bout the hair dye Qs? Is thr any strict rules about it? I'm thinking of dying my hair :/

You're welcome :) Hmm, generally and as far as I'm concerned, there shouldn't be any issue. In almost all Malaysian private institutions, the students are given the personal liberty to do whatever they like with their hair. Mainly because of the bit that you pay for education there, so you are like the customer of some sort :P I think if you really want to be sure, contact JPA. The college might tolerate whatever hairstyle you want, but possibly JPA might not be so nice about it (the whole students represent the government image thing:wink)

Besides, what color ? If it were something very normal like highlight red, purple, brown or gold, I don't think that is outrageous. :amuse

Hi! I'm a senior in KBU. JPA scholar as well. Here are some hopefully helpful answers for any of your questions: (this was copied from my messages with uonald, hope u dont mind ronald!)

1.do jpa choose the ausmat subjects for u?
2.where do we live?
3.the place we live good or not?
4.wat is the minimum requirement for the exam marks so jpa will continue to sponsor u?
5.i heard ausmat students r super busy, is it true?
1. Well, apparently here in KBU, the Architecture people have to take Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English As Second Language/Dialect (EALD), and Economics. Once, last year, I tried to discuss with the Head of Matriculations, whether I can change Chemistry to Accounting (because I used to take Prinsip Akaun for SPM, and I like that better than Chem), but unfortunately for Architecture people, we are not allowed to change. And eventhough, there's the Arts subject under AUSMAT, and KBU has its own School of Design, but apparently there's no qualified lecturer to teach AUSMAT Arts, I guess. But in the end, after checking out the Architecture course programmes in Australian universities, all the subjects that we're taking for AUSMAT do help in some way or another.

2. The JPA students will be living, some in Centrepoint hostel, and some will be living in the terrace houses in nearby residential area, BU6. Currently, my batch, the German bound students are living in the hostel, all the Australia bound live in 3-storey terrace house (which costs about RM1million each in the market). I think the juniors will be living in the 2-storey terrace houses; corner houses. KBU will arrange who you'll be roommates with (usually separated by Muslims/non-Muslims). The houses are equipped with a fridge, a TV(basic channel, no Astro), hot water. Right now, for Australia bound, there are only 4 houses, 2 for boys, 2 for girls. And there are 51 of us (Australia 31+ German 20). The previous batch was 84, and before that it was 180. So I assume your batch would be somewhere around 50 too, or less. So, befriend everyone!

3. Well, it's pretty comfortable. OU, The Curve, IKEA is by walking distance. None of us has a car. Except for one German bound guy who lives in hostel. So, bicycles are our mode of transportation. And some of us got hand-downs bicycles from the previous seniors. Oh yea, at the end of the year, there'll be A LOT of hand-downs things. Drawers, end tables, table fans, book shelves, hangers, pails, books, and the most important and expensive thing you guys will have to buy: CAS calculator (worth RM650), which will be priced down for the second hand ones. The calculator will only be used once you start the real AUSMAT. The first 6 months important agenda is IELTS. But you'll learn the 5 AUSMAT subjects as well, even though they're not going to be counted as the cumulative marks for AUSMAT, but the first 6 months is still important. JPA will still keep track of your progress.

4. JPA's requirement is ATAR 85. But most universities (especially good ones need ATAR 90). ATAR is Australian Tertiary Admission Ranking, it's quite complicated how the final mark is obtained, you'll learn it later. Just score your best in every subject, you'll be fine. Or you can go to this website: http://www.curriculum.wa.edu.au/inte...s/WACE_Courses

5. AUSMAT is all about good time management. If you do not study constantly, you'll be doomed. Last minute does not work here.
woah thanks so much i love u seems like its going to be pretty tough.. owh i have more questions, sorry to be a bother lol

1. how does jpa give us the monthly allowance?
2. are there any cute girls in kbu??
3. how r u doing in yr ausmat? tough? hard? or its just okay, like spm?
They'll bank in every 6 months. So, for you guys, they'll bank it in August. Then the next time, probably in January. Cute girls?! Hahaha, that's very subjective. No, it's not like SPM! SPM time, I study kaw2 during the last 2 months or so, still can get straight A's. But this time, erghhh. As I said, time management is very important.

You'll get RM430 per month. But they'll bank in your allowance every sem.

German bound student will need to take 6 subjects. The same subjects as Archi students + German language. But ATAR score needed for German student is just 75.

From more information on German bound, you can ask omgitsbolie. He's your senior.

But generally, regarding life in KBU, I can respond to your questions.
