delighted to find such a website which offers arguably the richest information about scholarships available in m'sia. if i'm not wrong, many past-year scholars join this forum,so i have little doubt that my following questions could be solved:-
i'm waiting for my SPM results and am eyeing for the JPA scholarship as many others are.may i know that what r the minimum requirements to get it? straight A1s? what if i get one or two A2s?
compare this: a student gets 10A1s and 2A2s, and another gets 10 straight A1s. which one has more advantage?

for this case, i think it's difficult to answer.
it depends on the sponsors...
as far as i can remember for my year,
mainly they give higher priority for students with straight A's.
anyone care to correct me on that?
i dunno..
it really all depends on the sponsors and what their requirements are.

this is only in my opinion and i cannot say for others or whether it is a fact, but for my year, the scholarship was given, mostly, to students with straight A1s. (speaking about the non-bumis that is..).
there were non-bumi students who got it although they did not score straight A1s, but they were the 2nd intake, after much 'rayuan' i think..
and of course, there might be those who are able to pull strings.

Friend, just try to apply...no harm trying right? Even though you might not stand a good chance, but at least it'll be a good experience for you. Go for it!

What I would say is that you should just give it a try but since there are too many straight A1s scorers each year, the scholarships are mostly taken up by them but this doesn't mean that with a string of straight A1s, one would be assured that he would get a place for himself under JPA scholarship. The subjects that you took in SPM and the way you fill the application plays an important role as well. When choosing the major that you plan to take up, you should make sure that you fulfill all the required requirements. For intance, certain course like Architectual requires additional subject like Art or "Lukisan Kejuruteraan". Then, it also depends on your performance during the interview.
compare this: a student gets 10A1s and 2A2s, and another gets 10 straight A1s. which one has more advantage?"
It's hard to say who has more advantage because sometimes "luck" plays a role as well. Don't be surprise but there have been cases where one with a string of straight A1s failed to secure a scholarship while someone with one or two A2s manage to get it. Good Luck!

since there are so many straight A1 students..i would think your extra curricular activies would play a role in getting you the scholarship or not..
i wouldn't say it carries a lot of weight..but it does matter in one way or another..
i would have to agree with the rest
just try applying..you wouldn't know unless you try..
so just give it a shot

hmm.. this thread is kinda redundant...
but anyway... yes STPM can apply for JPA scholarships... but it is a scholarship for completing a degree locally...
the bond is the same as the SPM overseas scholarships bond...
not recommended... apply for PTPTN and get first degree honor... and get waived from repaying the loan.... (i hope this is still the system...)
