I'm currently looking to upgrade my little pal on the desk so that I may play World of Warcraft without lag.
Let's hunt together ppl!
Right now, the first part I'm looking is Crucial's 256MB. I've always trusted Crucial but if there is any other good brand, do tell. Right now, Crucial 184 Pin 256MB DDR PC-3200 sells at 39 + tax + s&h (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-146-533&depa=0) at www.newegg.com.
But PC3200 is an overkill and I prefer PC2100 (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-145-001&depa=0) but PC2100 is more expensive despite the fact PC2100 is slower than its brother!
Does anybody have better deal than that?

I dont think RAM would help the choppyness in WOW. you need a faster cpu or a faster gpu.

forgot to give you my favourite link to Comp hardware prices. www.pricewatch.com
i recommend at least 512 megs of ram if you want to do any decent bit of computing these days. If you already have that much, a better graphics card would help more, i think. i'm not quite sure, but i seem to find that 2 sticks of 256mb ram is a bit faster than a single 512 meg stick. any reason for that?
and yeah pricewatch is always a good place to begin parts-hunting
and a tangent: you're playing WoW? i hate you. Who else is playing?

I'm currently with just 256. Want to add one more.
And I've yet to get my hand on the box! Folks at amazon are slow! I ordered it last week but they say there is a delay in delivery. I wanted to buy it in december out from some local store but IT RAN OUT OF STOCK! And those stores still have no new inventory.
yeah amazon is always slow. newegg have never disappointed me in the past tho

yes..running on 2 sticks of 256 is faster than 1 stick of 512.. coz maybe your mobo supports dual channel...

PC3200 is backward-compatible, which means it can also run at PC2100.. so just get whatever that's cheaper.
Crucial makes good RAM, but there are plenty of other manufacturers as well - corsair, kingston, mushkin, OCZ to name a few. There are lots more, but for some companies, people will only buy certain models.
The only issue is that mixing different types of RAM may cause compatibility problems (different manufacturer, different chips etc) on some motherboards, but most likely it is fine, especially if you are not into pushing your computer for every ounce(?) of extra performance (like overclocking, tweaking memory timings etc).
What motherboard are you using now? For nForce boards, using two sticks of RAM (preferably two identical ones) will enable dual-channel mode that will give you a few % performance increase.
But really though, just get a 512MB PC3200 stick! ;) It looks like PC3200 is gonna stay for a while

I don't think they've officially opened the malaysian market yet, however i do know some folks at lowyat.net who have imported it from aus, nz and us and are playing right now.
back to topic: bleh, while you're at it get two sticks of 512MB 3200MHz RAM.
