Hi there. I want to create a thread so that people can discuss about what it takes to make it in the ultra competitive field of the computing industry. I would like to know a few things. What are the various sub-fields in the industry that you can go into and what kinds of skills do you need to enter those sub-fields? If there is anything on the computing industry that you want to ask or need to know then post it here. thanks.

sure why not.

well, people are moving towards autonomous agents (multi agent systems) and serenpidity learning. the key word is

Artificial Agents and Cognitive Agents...

more

France:

www.lirmm.fr/~ferber

it is in french ..sorry but he is one of the founder of multi agent systems... The lirmm is the lab for autonomous agents and modeling artificial life. It is also the lab for constraint programming and complexity.

US:
MIT: Patti Maes (software agents), Minsky (donner professor- emotions ,consciousness in machines..) machine that feels and think.
Pitts: a good place also to check is the work in Pittsburgh university
LRDC: learning research and development.

Holland:
University of Utrecht, the best university in agents in holland and perhaps one of the best in Europe also...
University of Amsterdam, the best also in social informatics - social science + computer science + psychology.
Many phd grads from UvA goes to NASA Computational Division.

Belgium:
The free university of Brussels:
Marco Dorigo:inventor of ant optimization algorithms..

We are moving from normal softwares to artificial agents that has mental states of some kind of "cognition" and autonomous

LOL. continue your immature barking. more SPM students are watching ur barking. U are really weak LOL. asking mods to ban people just becoz u wanna win a discussion. u hv not been to the real world yet and meet people. no wonder u handle situation badly.
