Let's get creative with words. I'll roll the ball first.
This is something that I wrote for Ajax Amsterdam when they were up against Roma last year. Ajax got through to the quarterfinal, losing to AC Milan, the eventual European Cup winner in 2002/03.

Years since we long this day,
For it has been awhile since that victorious May,
But no more shall we tarry,
For today the serving is sweat and victory.

The May refers to May 1995 in San Siro, when Ajax last won the European Cup.

When it's raining I feel nostalgic
To recall the time when I still believed in magic
The precious memories of my peaceful childhood
Just thinking about it makes me feel so good

When it was raining I waited with eagerness
Because when the rain stopped I'd dive into the peacefulness
of the wet evening just after a shower
With my friends playing near the sewer

How fun it was to be a small kid
When you didn't have to worry about life even for a bit
Life was as carefree as the wind
When your naughtiness was not considered a sin

How fun it was to run around
When the world seemed to have no bound
To play with friends from sunrise to sunset
Was among the memories I won't ever forget
