erm... anyone understand what's the topic talking about?

'Guasa' is a form of traditional Chinese therapy based on the knowledge and experience passed down through the generations for more than few thousand years. This unique art attracted attention due to its extraordinary effects in relieving flu and colds.

According to history, this practice was popularised during the Tang Dynasty and the Ming Dynasty. It helps to detoxify our body, and promote better blood circulation while improving our metabolism.

In the olden days, the instrument used for guasa was either a coin or a ceramic spoon. These tools were dipped in liquor or water and used to scrape the surface of the skin until red patches appeared.

erm.. all these are quoted out from a guasa therapy handbook. I believe in traditional Chinese therapy and herbs, influenced by my family especially my father and my mother.
anyone interested in this therapy?

p.s/ is this topic under this S.I.G?

I think I can recall this therapy Guasa. In cantonese I believe it's 'Guat Sah', translated literally as 'scrapping sand' if I am not mistaken. Perhaps the moist on our bodies cause dust and sand in the air to stick to our bodies. So a instrument, with a semi-sharp edge is rubbed against the skin.

My remember my aunt used that therapy before. How reliable it is I do not know, although I have strong doubts in it.

according to the book, it states that 'sa' is the accumulation of aged and dead cells on the surface of our skin. It inhibits blood circulation, nutrient absorption and which caused to pain and numbness.

I believe this therapy is really working, from my experience.
Few days ago, my aunt's neck and shoulder having sprain 'niu sang', feeling pain and was not able to turn her head, after I helped her 'guasa' using the sraping board with right technique following the instruction in book, the 'sa' (red spot) appear and she said no pain anymore and her head can turn to right and left already.... it's really an amazing therapy.. only if using the right technique.

:D Dear Leng_cyl

I've been doing some research on Guasa Therapy for a short time and have found very little in writing. All that I have learned are from my Masters. Do you know where I can get a copy of a Guasa Therapy Handbook? English or Chinese would do.

Dear leng_cyl,

What is the title, author and cost of the book/manual? I want to buy one.

I studied and have used guasa therapy since 1989. I have my own lotion but I use a coin or spoon and most recently I use buffalo horn as scraper. It works quite well.

Since I live in Thailand, I have not noticed any books here on Guasa Therapy in the last 20 years. Where can I get a copy of the Chinese Guasa Therapy book/manual?

Let me know.

Keep up your good work.

Actually ho, the book is published by the direct selling company itself, haha^^

So sorry I can't help you. However, I think there are still many other books about guasa therapy sold in the bookstores, e.g: popular,etc......
