Hi everyone.. i hope u all can help me out here... my fren knows that she wants to be an accountant for sure... thing is.. she doesn't know whether to go to TAR or form 6... she's been hearing loads of opinions from many many people and she's really confused... ok, TAR offers her an advanced diploma only, while by going to from 6 and U, she'll get a degree(assuming that she gets accounting after form 6).. But then, why should she waste time doing form 6 when she already knows what she wants? She has to take other subjects which have no connection with accounting like PA which can be a waste of time... But then, if she doesn't pass her ACCA, she'll only have an advanced diploma if she goes to TAR... By doing form 6 and going to U, if she does not pass her ACCA, at least she has a degree to fall back on... So, what should she do? Form 6 or TAR? thanks..

She should go to TAR. As she knows what she wants, she should follow that route to that career. There is no need to waste time on form 6 and study something general which is not related and is not helping her directly, in fact more long winded.

If she knows what she wants and she is prepared to study accountancy, there is a high chance that she will do well and who knows she will do very well in that.

You cant say that Form 6 is a waste of time, after all, it's the passport for her to get into public university to study accountancy.

Actually, I was told by my teacher last time that both route are pretty similar , as you still need to pass the professional exams like ACCA and etc to be an accredited accountant.

Well, it really depends on your friend. I think money plays a part here too. By doing Form6 and getting into public uni, I think it'll be much cheaper.

By the way, anyone knows the difficulty getting a place for accountancy in public uni?
