I'm not sure about the US, but JPA usually sends its scholars to Russia, Ukraine, India, the UK, Australia, and Ireland.

Medical Schools in US are Grad Schools....meaning you need a degree before you can apply to study Medicine there....

So that's why JPA doesnt sponsor students to do medicine in US...

JPA sponsors students to Ireland, but during my year, it was not a choice in the forms. only UK. usually, those who did not make the cut for UK unis apply for Ireland and if they get Ireland, JPA sponsors them there...

i also heard that JPA has since not allowed students to apply to RCSI. the officer told me so, but i have heard of contradicting facts too.

and to add to Patrick's list, to Indonesia too.

jpa will never send anyone to us for medicine because it's expensive. it can easily cost rm 1mil a person. besides, there're so many cheaper options such as russia, ukraine, indon. but i do know that docs in us earn buckets of cash. so if you're eyeing for money, you should head to us to work but beware, the competition for job is also very high.

US universities are mostly grad school.
one thing,it's expensive but if you want to do medicine you still can.
As far as i'm concerned u should apply for any bachelor in any of the sciences then after that you can add 3 more years.
That's what most people do..

Yes, US has a total different education standard for medical schools. You will need a bachelor degree inorder to go to medical school which is usually 4 years, then 3 years of residency. There is usually no scholarships to medicine here because once you finished your residency, you will earn alot usually.

I heard that most of the scholars last year were given scholarships for twinning courses between Penang Medical College and the Irish Universities. Is that true? My friend(who got it) told me that there're less than 20 scholars who are actually given the scholarship that enables them to apply to UK(namely, North Ireland,Scotland and England, South Ireland excluded). Is that true? Or is it just a myth that those who didn't get the scholarship trying to defame those scholars?

It makes sense to me because there're quite a lot of scholars that are given scholarships to ''UK'', and considering the few number of places for international students in UK medical schools(around 20 or less than that per medical school, annualy), it'd be really unfair for self-funded international students as all the places would be taken up by the scholars.(if i'm not mistaken, they will be given special consideration in the application process, correct me if i'm wrong).

If you graduated as a Dr. your chances of being grated any sort of working immigration Visas to the states would be 0.01%.

You would have a better chance getting to the USA by seeking asylum.

Dr(s) and nurses are the 2 professions that the goverment of the USA had decided to stop importing due to the high demand of them in other parts of the world, especially devoloping countries.

actually it is quite weird..............

medical schools in the US are all grad schools rite? but if you really want to go the the states for your undergraduate studies, u can take up IMU twinning programmme. 2 1/2 years in IMU and 2 1/2 years (i think) in thomas jefferson medical college...........

anyway, that what i think u should do if u REALLY REALLY WANT to go to the states for your medicine course.

correct me if i am wrong............
