Could anyone explain why Palestine and Israel are fighting?
I'm so sorry for being ignorant about it. i don't know anything about global issues other than what is in the star which i feel is quite toned down as it's controled by MCA. My friend said it has nothing to do with religon but actually social discrimination within the own community. Could you please start from the begining? Like why everyone seems to hate and blame the Jews?

one thousand years of history in one post? that would be a feat. :) Let's try to keep it short and sweet.

Started a long long time ago where the Jews were chased out of their homeland and since then they wanted to return although they're all over the world. Fast forward to the 20th century after WW2, they managed to lobby the UN to let them have their own country. So, they got the current piece of land despite protests from Palestinians who controlled the area at that time. Lost of unrest, and Palestinians were shoved aside and the Israelis took over most parts of West Bank which were not theirs (not included in the agreement) in a war(its Six Days War or something). Since then, they've been occupying it illegally. In short, the Jews say they need to occupy and continuosly bomb the refugee camps in West Bank for terrorists, while the Palestinians are disputing the very existence of Isreal and they want their land back. Isreal's been around for so many years that disbanding it is impossible, but how are you going to compensate the Palestinians who lost half of their land to Israel unwillingly? Each side won't budge..so it goes on...

Okay, I admit this is rather oversimplified...but itsthe gist of it. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

Seems like you totally ignored the British, which were the superpower at that time and was controlling of the land there. To understand who decided what at that time, you've got to looked at the power equation of the times. I strongly doubt the Jews could get Israel if UK didn't approve of it.

i heard from somewhere that.. is Israel part of the revelation of sth like that? it's like.. in the Bible.. it is said that the Jews will have their own land again~.. sth like that....

both palestinians and jews were given a piece of land after WW2
the jews accepted it, but the arabs and palestinians rejected it
