Was an article in Sin Chew Jit Poh about this website. http://www.new7wonders.com/

This website offers you the opportunity
to participate in the first-ever global vote
to elect the New 7 Wonders of the World.

This vote will culminate with a live, worldwide,
telecast on January 1 2007 to announce the
New 7 Wonders of the World.

Be part of the making of history!

The ranking so far....
Great Wall of China, China: 10.92 %
Potala Palace, Lhasa, Tibet, China: 8.45 %
Taj Mahal, India: 7.92 %
Colosseum, Rome, Italy: 6.94 %
Pyramids of Chichen Itza, Yucatan, Mexico: 6.28 %
Statues of Easter Island, Chile: 5.98 %
Tower of Pisa, Italy: 5.93 %

Petronas Twin Towers anybody? Honestly I would rather choose Angkor Wat or Borobudur...

HappyCat, I agree with you that we should always support Malaysia because we are Malaysians.

However, offering blind support for your country will only destroy it, not help it. Self doubt is the key for achievement, regardless of whether for an individual or a country. Self doubting or critisizing for the good of the country is the form of support we should all offer, rather than the blindly optimistic 'feel good' support that our government wants us to give.

What nwx86 wrote is perfectly logical and I believe is done so without the intention of being disloyal. If people are voting for the pure reasons of being loyal to their country, what is the point of backing the Petronas Twin Towers when there are only potentially 25 million voters, when there are potentially 300 million voters for the Empire State Building? We should vote with our head, not with our hearts. Furthermore, its not the world's tallest building anymore.

To be specific, we should not support a megalomaniac and wasteful government white-elephant project. The money used in building PTT could have been used in other more constructive ways.

why isn't Chin Terracotta on the list??

It's on the nominees list as Terracotta Warriors, Xian, China. Just that it's not in the top 10...

The only other choice from China is the Forbidden City, Beijing, China.

Lots of castle, cathedral and temple nominations from Europe and India.

If twin towers can be a world wonder, then the world will soon have many more wonders! Many countries are competing to build more n more higher n bigger towers...

Well, the other "tall" buidings cannot be in this new 7 Wonders list because one of the requirements is that the "Wonder" must have been built before the year 2000.

FYI, a panel of experts will choose 21 nominees out of the 77 top-scoring nominees. I think these 21 nominees will be from different countries (because they want diversity). These 21 nominees will be announced on 1 Jan 2006. Then people will have to vote again, except that the choices will be limited to these 21 nominess. The New Seven Wonders of the World will be officially declared on 1 Jan 2007, and will be broadcasted worldwide (it'll be a Olympic Games-like ceremony).

i have a good idea. why not suggest malaysia as a whole? well, i think m'sia is unique enough because of its 'hati jantung' shape(sorry i don't know how to call hati jantung in english). there're no other country in this whole-wide world that can resemble the hati jantung better than m'sia. it's natural, and i bet this shape can stand for a few million years more unlike building that can fall and statues that can break. vote for m'sia!

Few million years? I'm not under-estimating the architect and the enggineers that designed that building...but a few million years is a little to much...who knows what can happen in that period of time?
