Winamp 5 out!

Where is Winamp 4? Best of Winamp 2 + 3 = Winamp 5.

If you don't know already.. Winamp 3 sucks major ass.. at least for me and it's a general industry consensus too :D

OMG.. i donno what to say.. you could at least use Winamp 2.91. Earlier versions have memory leaks.

Unless your system is like 3-4 years old.. it doesn't really make a difference on modern systems.

A quick check on task manager .. ~11MB of RAM. maximized, ~4MB minimized with a playlist of about 1400 songs.

For foobar2000.. ~3MB maximized, ~1.7MB minimized on the same playlist.

Both are playing of course.

There is no version 4.. on winamp, press F1 and you'll see the version. It was just released yesterday so it couldn't be Winamp 5. :) <-- don't like this smiley.

EDIT: WHoops.. F1 works differently for Winamp 5.. but it'll probably still bring up the "About..." box for Winamp 2/3.

I would say Winamp is the most user-friendly out there and has the best support (lots of third-party plug-ins, skins etc).. RealPlayer is a PoS and takes over your system unnecessarily, while Windows Media Player is just so-so. IMO of course.

actually, i do have itunes but itunes can't play video files. plus for some reason, itunes skip beats when i start a program while running itunes. so i went back to winamp. i like the sharing idea in itunes, but i dont know how to use it :roll: hehe..

Personally I don't mind iTunes, but it takes way too much memory and it's still kinda buggy on Windows. Mac programmers can program a Windows app for shit. :P They take ages to come up with an update too!!

I only use it to upload songs to my iPod and even that, I have to load Ephpod once in a while to manage the playlists.

for music i genrally use winamp 2.9 something
for video depends, if i want to watch 26 eps of anime i use wmp 8 simply because it stays fullscreen when i between files... for otehr things including dvd i use vlc (http://videolan.org)

I have been using Winamp 5 to watch animes and Winamp 3 for Mp3 for about two months but as of today, finally I fully switched to Winamp 5 ... yay *clap*clap* .... the main reason I sticked to Winamp 3 was the "enqueue" function ... I can, very easily in Winamp 3, enqueue which song I want to listen to next (don't tell me to arrange the songs and use linear playlist advancing - sepak karang) ... then tiba-tiba I found out about this plugin for winamp 5 that gives me the same functionality so taratada ... I switched .. hurray to Winamp 5 ... 5 stars for Winamp 5 !!! I ReComMend it !!

btw, I tried foobar and iTunes and just one word, well two actually: they suck !! win media player? heh that's out of question .... DISQUALIFIED!!! ... hehehe no hard feeling okay guys?

heh i tried foobar, interface was not intuitive. i commented on itunes earlier when it came out (http://www.recom.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=301) and wasnt too hot about it. sloppy mac programmers :P

What do you mean by enqueue? Double clicking a song on explorer and have it sent to playlist?

If yes, then I think the feature has been there as far as I can remember. If no, then :ooops:

i think thay had to come out with a content filter for it's internet TV. They were to much free porn chanels on it.

What do you mean by enqueue? Double clicking a song on explorer and have it sent to playlist?
Enqueue that I meant there is a function where you can number your songs .. like after the song currently being played, which song is next? .. and after that which song? .. and then? ... in Winamp 3 you can set it even if you chose random manual advancing ... oh btw, there's also that kind of enqueue your mentioned but hey isn't keyboard the instrument with which you play music? oh we have another keyboard used with computer .. so why same word different meaning? *shrugs*shrugs*
