Actually wat are those exams all about?
Is there a certain period we need to prepare for it?
Is there any reference books about it in Malaysia?
Or izit juz another Maths and english test to showcase ur language and mathematical skills?
Anything that we shud worry about? (i mean the juniors)
When shud be the right time doing ithe exam?
Now? in F6? during A levels? INTEC?

Is there a certain period we need to prepare for it? SAT is held every first Saturday of the month.. (or something like that.... check with the collegeboard)

Is there any reference books about it in Malaysia? Kinokuniya, or MPH or Borders...

Or izit juz another Maths and english test to showcase ur language and mathematical skills? SAT, yes... TOEFL, just English

Anything that we shud worry about? (i mean the juniors) the exams...

When shud be the right time doing the exam? anytime u are ready... if u have the bullets, u can shoot for an unlimited number of times....
Now? in F6? during A levels? INTEC?

what is ATU??? America Top Universities(only available at INTEC)... actually, it is just ADFP (America Foundation Degree Program) or just similar to the first year of ADP(America Degree Program) at private colleges in Malaysia...

yea, like lyzzy said.. just google.
but then again, here're some answers to the questions you asked which I don't think you can get if you google:

Yes, there're LOADS of reference books abt SAT 1 & 2 & TOEFL in all major bookstores. If you live in Klang Valley, then I suggest you drop by any MPH bookstore.. confirm 100% you can find those books. You can find them under the section 'Exam Books' or something like that... You might wanna check out the Princeton Review Guide to SAT 1. Lotsa cool tips to beat the 'standardised test' system apparently! (that's what I heard lar... I haven't experienced it myself!)

Basically, SAT 1 is a reasoning test.. though last year, the US College Board has just revamped the format of SAT 1 to include writing...

ATU is the name of the JPA scholarship programme to send their scholars to the States to do their undergrad.

And finally..........INTEC is the BEST place on earth!

Just go to google and type 'the best place on earth' and you'll see a picture of INTEC! (just kidding!)

(anyone from INTEC wanna dispute that?) :D

another option u might wanna consider is the ACT Assessment...
check it out at www.actstudent.org

students who are not strong in Verbal part in SAT tend to score better in ACT... and more and more colleges are taking ACT as an equivalent assessment to SAT...

so, if u couldn't remember those bombastic words.. and couldn't understand analogies like me..., and if ur dream college accepts ACT... why not give it a try...

(i've no idea about the cost of the exam... and i think there's only one test site in Malaysia...)

I admit that collegeboard has been a big help to me for understanding SAT. I planned to take it, but withdrew just minutes before keying in my mum's credit card number because Drake only requires TOEFL, so I switched my interest instead.

OTOH, after I found my new target, Wharton, I reswitched back to SAT.

Btw, SAT 1's format have been changed to a little bit tougher as there are essay questions now. However, the main trick is to memorise those bombastic wacko terms and words which can be found anywhere in the internet. Just google it and you are there.

If I enter Form 6, I will probably take SAT this year or early next year for my preparation to apply for the Ivies. Let's see how can we go about it....!!

My hometown, Kuantan doesn't have a lot of major bookstores. Wanna look for Kinokuniya, MPH, Times? Nah....Not unless when I get their franchise later if I have the $$$....then Kuantan bookworms will benefit from it!! Hehehe....The only major bookshop is Popular Bookstore (TWO of them) but there are very few SAT books for sale. In fact, only ONE, I remember......

Taking SAT is very essential ONLY if you are going to the States. If you are going to Australia and UK, why bother about SAT? Better concentrate on A-Levels or SAM, they can reduce greys in your hair and your headache, not to mention deterioration in health. After all, SAT is SCHOLASTIC AMERICAN TEST.

Set your priorities right!!

er... i think if u were to enter Universities in Singapore, u will need to sit for SAT too... i'm not sure the weightage of it... but u have to take it somehow...

so, SAT might also mean Singaporeans Also Take [the exam] (lame attempt to fit in the SAT)...

.....the programme offered by JPA is called ATU...............does it necessarily mean that u will end up in a top american university once u have completed ur foundation at INTEC?

.....the programme offered by JPA is called ATU...............does it necessarily mean that u will end up in a top american university once u have completed ur foundation at INTEC?

depends how u define TOP...

as US has few thousand universities... what's ur cut off point for top universities??
top 1%?? top 5%?? or top 10%??

and it doesn't necessarily mean that u will end up in a top university by following the program because u are the one who is going to do all the application.. and it is ur result that those universities are going to review on...

if u have great co-curricular records and good scores, then, ur chances of entering TOP universities will of course be better...

is A-levels accepted by US universities?

according to MACEE, the general requirement is to have ur TOEFL and ur secondary school transcripts......A-levels or SPM etc..........

For the Ivies and for scholarships........SAT 1 is required together with TOEFL...........a number of SAT 2 is also required but that depends on the university which u r applying to..........A-levels can give u credits.....and that depends on the institution too
