as far as i know, mostly liquor, cigarettes and the likes, but there are limits to them. for instance, you can only buy a carton of cigs, if buy more than a carton, you will be tax at the airport. other women products such as perfume, make-ups and the likes are tax free as well. as far as i'm concern, there are no limit to how much you can buy those stuff.. hehe.. :D..
regarding the guidelines, i don't think there's any specific guidelines except pick what you want and pay for it.

I think whatever you buy, it should not be more then 4 in quantities.
For an example, you can only buy 3 cartons of the same brad of cigarattes.
However you can buy 200 cartons of cigarattes as long as they are all different brands and flavours.

tax is where a country make most money, especially on food and income..
at least i think so... w/o tax a country is poor...
even GDP can be associated with taxation, coz the more you make the more you spend....

yeah but tax is sin money.
The economy will benefit with not tax. Why?
because tax, is part of the consumer income. By far, the government spending component in the GDP is small. The largest component is comsuption. With no tax, larger disposable income for the consumers. Larger income means larger consumption.
In the end, larger GDP.
btw, tax is the money the government steal from the worker. heh!

do you guys think taxation is wrong?
there's nothing wrong with tax. even muslim country built by nabi muhammad SAW implimented tax in their system. but of course, there's limit to it. overtaxing is just unfair!

A libertarian would take a different view.
the problem is, tax supposedly exists to offer social benefits to the society ie education, defense, trade enforcement etc.
but, the government is not to be trusted. money is best put to use by the consumers themselves, not by the government.
by taxing the population, the government is using the money at their discretion. and their discretion is not always the way we want our money to be spent.
so, in a way, the government is telling us what to do with our money. Similar to the case where the government is telling us what is morally acceptable or not. Moral or doing what we want with our money (in legal ways of course) are none of the government's business.
And when the government is telling you what's right and what's wrong, that's simply wrong.
i only support a tax that "pay per view" structure, not pay whether u like it or not. the latter tax is sin money. its our money and not theirs. to impose tax on the unwilling is equivalent to robbing the unfortunate.
like what adam smith said, the govt should have minimum role in the economy and eliminating tax is a step to that goal.

So, without tax money, how about all the public amenities?
Another question, what do you guys think about the tax structure in Malaysia? Is it much higher than most countries? Lower ? Any opinion?

Taxes has its purposes. Roads, street lights, schools, Airports Public trasportation, Public Projects, Highways etc.
Some complain about over taxing. How do you define over taxing? In the UK for an example. The average income group $29,999-$35,999 pay about 30% of their AGI. British citizens do get a lot of benefits from their taxes. Free Hospitalization, Prescription, School, and Even College is free.
In Malaysia, the average Income $7,999 - $11,999 pay about 13% of their AGI and the cost of living is a lot cheaper. The benefits from the tax paid are not clear. beside over spending in sectors like building a fancy bridge :D, A new home for the adminstarion. Malaysian still have to pay approximately $2,000 for a Heart bypass, on the other hand in UK it would be free.
So lets move on to USA. This is the only country where i have to pay a ridiculous amount of money for tax. Ridiculous amount of money for Health Insurance, Car insurance, Home insurance and Social security.
This year, aprox. 43% of my Gross income was gone between tax and insurance. So thats why USA has the highest Income percapita. Because half of it doesn't even exist. :D
