erm.... no, i'm actually interested in law, but NUS offered me bioengineering, which was my 4th choice. Now, i'm just utterly confused

If i am not mistaken, to apply to NUS, one must have taken the SAT 1...............so i suppose that u have taken it.........tell u what, why don't u google for bioengineering and bio tech, it might give u some insights................

Two friends(twins) of mine are currently doing bioengineering, they say that its more to physics.........combining physics with biology, more accurately applying physics to living things............thats roughly the picture....

Basically, the idiot's guide (which someone once gave to me) describing the difference between engineering, science and technology courses are as follow:

Engineering - you develop technologies in that field.

Science - you work alongside existing intermediate technologies in that field to innovate and create other technologies in that field, or you become an intermediate link between the technology and the world.

Technology - you work with existing final technologies (be it a product, innovative idea, etc).

once being called engineering, physics most properly takes most of the parts in one engeering course. but tina070786, you have to think again whether you like to work with physics and biology or not.... have to choose what you want to do and interested in the most... but also wanna remind you that "the same chance wont knock your door for the second time" :P

Questions:
1. What are the prospects of getting a job with a bioengineering degree?

2. I heard that it is a relatively new field and among all engineering field, bioengineering grads earn the least. Is this true?

3. Who do bioengineers work for?

I have tried reasearching for the above info but haven't exactly gotten any clear cut answers. I am currently in my last year of high school and I am considering a field in bioengineering. I hope that you guys could help me out in my decision. Thanks.

Yes, those are precisely the questions i would like the answer to. What are the prospects in M'sia and S'pore? I've tried to find some info on it, but there aren't any clear cut answers. Anyone currently studying bioengineering?

Should i settle for a course i'm not sure of in a reputable uni like NUS or opt for a course i like in an unknown uni?[/quote]

What is the other course(s) that you like in what other unknown institution(s)?

one of my friends' brother who's a qualified bioengineer didn't get a job in the bioengineering field. he got himself a degree in business administration later and he's working with S'pore Airlines now, nothing to do with bioengineering.

oh no.... that sounds bad..... I don't want to study something for 4 years and end up doing something else instead! What am i to do?

Either dentistry or law in an unknown institution cause the famous ones would cost a fortune....
