Both types of camaras have pros and cons
if you want to shot moving subjects or subjects in dim lighting, it is better to use traditional camara as the snap speed is faster, so that the picture will appear sharper.
Works of digital camara can be edited and stored easily
I am using digicam now. model :
Nikon Coolpix 2100
I am thinking of applying one fotopages for our SIG so that we can upload photos there
I think it is better to brush up our photography skills before buying a very good camara.
Nikon is a good brand to buy and it is economical compare to Olympus and Sony.
For time being I am posting some of my pictures on my fotopages. I have included my opinion and pholosophy of photography there. please give comment :) .

at last, found iQing's face. gorgeous.
nice pictures by the way.
a Q to ask here. do u know how to cut the interval time for the flash light? My sony digicam flashed for a moment before picture is captured. I mean, I want my cam to capture pic exactly after I push the button...sighed..
tq in advance.

Surely digital camera is better, in terms of convenience and versatility. You can check the photo you have captured to see if it is nice and retake if it is not satisfying. While non-digital camera doesn't allow this.
Moreover, you can upload the pictures taken with a digicam into your computer, edit them according to your preference(like you don't want the "lamp-post" beside you and your girlfriend, you can kick him out of the photo), then you can send the photos to your friends, set as wallpapers, download into your phone, etc.. And the greatest thing is that you can choose not to print the photos, instead just save them into your computer for viewing. This saves money.

Do you set the red-eye feature? If yes, your digicam will flash once before taking a picture. Change this feature if you do not wish this to happen.

Not every Nikon models are good. I'm fed up with my aunt's stupid Nikon digicam. Can't remember what model it is, but it takes a long time to process the picture you have captured before you can take a new picture.
I use Olympus 410. 4 megapixels/All weather. I got it for around RM1400. But now the price has dropped to RM1000. It's a fine digicam I would say.

yeah. I agree.
I do not depend much on digicam's quality to take pictures because I believe that skill and intuition is more important than the camera.
My digicam has only 2 megapix.
I heard famous photographer like Jeff Ooi uses Nikon

wah, thanks for your compliment.
usually (almost all the time)
I use flashless mode when I take picture so that my picture is always exactly the same as my subject.
you need to learn how to hold your camera so that your picture will not appear blurred.... using a tripod is a good idea.
I only use flash when the surrounding is too dark, or the subject is moving.

The pre-flash is due to the "red eye reduction flash" feature that is set as default in most camera. The pre-flash is produced so that the subject's pupils contract before the real shot, and hence do not produce the infamous red-eye image. If you want your camera to snap the picture with flash at the exact moment, you have no choice but to turn the red-eye feature off. You can differentiate the two modes clearly: the red-eye reduction is normally represented by an eye, while no red-eye is represented by the lightning symbol alone.
However, keep in mind that you will risk getting red-eye pictures if you disable the feature. The especially risky situations are dark surrounding and subjects who do not look into the direction of the camera.

Well to me plain black and white does not really show nostalgic expression.. Couse sometimes you need a little yellowish orange touch up.. and maybe a little black spots..
If you still want to make plain b/w as nostalgic.. you will need it to be some sort like greyscale..
i am not sure if i comment right..

im not a serious photographer but i do love taking photos of family and friends and yes myself :P, i use a nikon coolpix digital cam. if any of you are like me then you will understand where im coming from when i say that i have tons of digital pics stored in my pc because i can never be bothered to print them out and stash em in photo albums. but i always wanted to flick through photos with my friends and family..u noe what i mean right! anyway recently i discovered this thing called 'photobook' which (surprise, surprise) is just that - a book of photos i.e. not an album but a bound book, very professional-looking and pretty damn cool i must say. my family and i have made several photobooks already and i'm very satisfied with them.
