Where did u buy your computer?? I heard that your laptop can only be serviced in the country you've purchased it from if it's still under warranty. For example, if u purchased your laptop in US and u brought it back to Malaysia and it breaks down, it has to be sent back to the US for repairs although Malaysia has a service center. I know that applies to DELL.

Not sure 'bout Toshiba. You have to find out from Toshiba. I have a DELL laptop and the service is good. I just had my AC adaptor replaced and it's under warranty. Within 2 days, I've got a new one. I just need to send back the faulty one. Everything is paid for by DELL, including the shipping. Someone will also personally come pick up the package from you... Cool...

There is a main toshiba service center in US. If you bought your laptop from the US, you can send the laptop to the main factory. If it is under warranty, toshiba will cover everything including shipping cost (first class air mail), and your laptop will get repaired within 10 days.

If you bought your laptop from non-US countries, the main toshiba service center does not repair it. You have to send it to private service centers, if under international warranty you can still get it repaired for free, but shipping is not covered. There are many such private service centers all around NY, mostly in major cities.

My laptop was sent for repair last week.
