Anyone here studying under scholarship in Canada? Is it hard for a malaysian to obtain a scholarship in Canada?

What I know is that internation students cannot obtain the scholarship in the first year of study. Only after one year of study, they can apply for scholarship using the academic results in that particular university. Can anyone prove me wrong?

Thanks.

i'm currently studying in university of waterloo. as far as i know, scholarship for international students are scarce.

with good enough grades, you might get some entrance scholarships, but those aren't enough to cover all your tuition fees.

in upper years, there are a few more scholarships that you can apply for,and some automatic consideration ones. most of them depend on your grades.

this i speak only for waterloo's math faculty. i'm not too sure about the other canadian universities. you can look up their website for more information

for some of the automatic consideration ones, you are eligible for scholarship once your cgpa is above a certain cutoff point. if i'm not mistaken, it's around 87.

for the other ones, you're competing against your peers for those scholarships. so as long as your cgpa is higher than your classmates, you stand a chance. USUALLY, you need cgpa in the 90's to get these ones.
