I've found out about this author a few months ago, but it is only now that I really feel like buying his books.
This guy has won the Pulitzer Prize before for "Guns, Germs and Steel". This book basically explores how geography, population size etc. had led to differing stages of development of civilisations, and explaining the situation we see today (European/American culture prevalence).
A more recent book he's written, "Collapse: How Societies Choose To Fail Or Succeed" on the other hand explores the decisions, culture norms etc. of certain societies that led to their downfall. Example case studies are the Easter Islanders, Mayans etc. and even Rwandans. I bet it'll be an interesting read.
But I haven't read any of these yet... haha... after I read them I shall try to put up my own opinion/review about the books here.
