Essentially SAT1 and SAT2 test different stuff. SAT1 is generally English + Mathematics, whereas for SAT2, it is mainly other subject types. Check out the detailed syllabuses at collegeboard website.
SAT scores are compulsory for university entrance? I don't know where to sit for the tests nor i know whether the tests are compulsory to enter university like NUS in singapore? Can you pls enlighten me on that? THanks in advance!
It's compulsory for application for the undergraduate admission to a university in the USA but some other universities in other countries might require SAT or similar tests. If you have set your eyes on certain universities, you have to check with the universities on their admission requirements. Some require you to take special tests while some might just ask for your SAT/TOEFL/A-LEVEL etc. I think there is no rigid universal set of requirements for university/college admission.

I don't know about Singapore but SAT 1 is usualy required by US schools. Some schools, though there aren't too many of them, require SAT 2.

In terms of SAT scores, it depends on universities, but most universities in US and Singapore would require it, as entry requirement. To find out more about the test, check out www.collegeboard.com . You would be able to find when the test and where to take the test, as well as some information about the test.

Ok, well the SAT2s are subject test while the SAT1 tests your general aptitude in English and Mathematics. For example, SAT2 subjects are Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Math, Literature, US history, some foreign languages, etc. As this is the case, they are more specific and are more in depth. For the sciences, a high school level curriculum should be adequate such as the A levels (not sure about STPM since I'm taking the IB). Math is real easy, in my opinion. Additionally, you want to find out how many SAT2 tests do the universities that you are applying to require? Usually, some really good ones require 2-3 while some might not even need SAT2s and only your SAT1s. I recommend searching www.collegeboard.com for more info.

if I'm not wrong, SAT is required to apply to Singapore Uni... it is not really weighted in some clear ways, but it is weighted (correct me if i'm wrong)... as long as u score a 1300+ (for the old format), u are very likely to get into the Uni(in Singapore) of your choice, provided that u also meet the As requirements...

SAT II subject tests are comparable to STPM texts, though STPM is much tougher and more detailed. SAT II tests mainly tests on your understanding of the topics and thier applications. I took the SAT II Physics, Chemistry and Maths II recently. I studied for the subjects using STPM books borrowed from friends, most of the topics tested will be covered in the first year of STPM couse, aka Lower 6 Form. If you have the luxury, by all means, grab a copy of those SAT II practice tests and references at the major book stores near you. If they are unavailable, Kinokunya KL and most of the book stores in Singapore has them :) or, you can simply have them shipped to you through amazon.com (do read the reviews on the books there, they are quite true )
Cheers ;)
