View Full Version : Malay Teaching Assistantship Available at Ohio U.

The Center for Southeast Asian Studies at Ohio University is pleased to announce the availability of a Malay Language Teaching Assistantship for the 2006-2007 academic year.

This teaching assistantship will require 15 hours of teaching and tutoring per week with both undergraduate and graduate students. The assistantship provides a full tuition waiver and a living stipend of US$10,020 (exact amount subject to change).* Preference will be given to students pursuing a Master's Degree in Southeast Asian Studies or Linguistics. Prior teaching experience is a plus. * The assistantship does not provide payment for the student general fee or health insurance.

To be eligible, a student must be:
- A native speaker of Malay
- Accepted into a graduate program at Ohio University by April 1, 2005

Cool, just curious, can the native speaker of Malay be a non-Malay but speaks Malay natively?

well of course, right?!? just like many of us who arent exactly English, but consider ourselves native "English" speakers.. no?

i think by definition or at least by the convention adopted by the college board, malay is the native language of malaysian citizens.

And please excuse the typo! The deadline for acceptance into a graduate program is April 1, 2006... not 2005!
