To be frank, it's utterly stupid statement "not recognizing Israel", which is similar to China's sentiments towards Taiwan as an independent state.

You cannot and will not be able to change the fact that Israel will be there. Palestin will only suffer further and the only the possible solutions is to negotiate with Israel.

When will the hatred stop if both refuse to settle their difference?

these palestinians know no other way other than the ways of the dessert thats why they can live this way so long cos thats all they know. You couldnt take an american and put him in west bank and ask him to struggle the way the palestinians do. I dont know if i could do it because im used to "so to speak" easy life in the west.

What is it like living in palestine? what is the standard of living? is it the same as in india/bangladesh or worse? Which third world countries would you compare it to?

i don't know which countries in west do u refer to....

however, i think that whatever-countries are soooo superficial...

they loudly promoting democracy and even went to some extent to invade some other countries in order to liberate them from dictatorship....

yet when the party, who they don't like, win the election, they refuse to acknowledge the winner and don't honor the decision......

I think the middle east will be very interesting to watch in the next few months...with so many old guards from both sides called back to heaven (or hell, don't care) perhaps peace will be possible...

I hope Hamas doesn't act like the asshole it usually is, as unlikely as this outcome is. Hopefully Sharon and/or his successor won't be utter assholes (again, this is rather unlikely) towards Hamas. Both sides should try to gain the moral high ground -- it'd be funny seeing both sides trying to unilaterally reduce the casualties on the other side.

what do you think would happen if sharon knew of the election outcome. Maybe the doctors are keeping it from him?

Right now, the Hamas Manifesto is still without a change. The ideal palestinian state still hasn't changed.

So I guess their ultimate goal is still the same. Hamas will continue to not accept Israel existence.

However, since the new goverment hasn't yet be formed, i'll give it few months and see how Hamas who vowed to end al lcorruption in palestine will fare.
