hey guys

so i just bought this really neat laptop fr dell that comes with the media center xp edition. the thing is, i hardly need any of the features that come with it, and was thinking of just installing the copy of xp pro that i have.

the other reason for doing a reinstallation - specifically, formatting the computer and doing a clean-reinstall of xp is because the dell machine came with so much junk and hoohah software that i'm afraid it would just clutter up my registry.

what do you think i should do? keep the (really cool) media center or just screw it and format it up?

thanks :D

I would format it too.

Branded PCs are full of useless software because the software companies subsidize the cost to promote their software.

Mostly are just junk or shareware stuff anyway.

media center is so fancy...

and they don't ship the pc with its recoverty winxp cd so once gone it's gone for good.
