gotta agree with that.
there was a 3rd intake for atu 5 that enrolled 2 months after the 1st intake...so it's never too late.
but i think students shouldn't assume that they're guaranteed a JPA scholarship if they score straight A's...coz there are hundreds of students like that nowadays.

It doesn't hurt if you know someone who can pull some strings too.

I suggest we can all forward this "Iklan" to your friends and relatives, both overseas and home, just to make aware of such opportunities.
As the same time, we can also encourage them to try it out - as we need better and better people working the government. It is still quite hard to convince someone that it's a respectable career to be a civil servant, especially people in my social circle.

Erm..juz to let you all know..spread to those who wanna apply..don't go applying for medic if the results are not even full A1. And..be prepared coz even if you get medic..you may get either Manipal or Indonesia and not UK as you want it to be..it happened to my juniors. JPA policy now is..students choose the course, Gov choose the country. This is PM's directive.

I fully agree with Jiin Joo, that we need to work harder to attract top talents to work as civil servant, as eventually a lot of decision making will be happening there.
And I do hope that present scholars will seriously consider becoming a civil servant, to help improve the entire civil structure. I have heard of many top scholars who do not intend to go back and contribute etc. That is not a healthy situation.
On Aikwin's point, I would say that JPA will still look at the country of your choice, but especially for medicine, the number of straight As who apply for medicine are already equal or perhaps even more than the total number of scholarships to do medicine in UK, Russia, Australia, India and Indonesia. So, as most students will put UK as first choice, JPA will select the students to fill in for UK. So, now there are still a lot of straight As students who are not selected to do medicine in UK.
So, what should JPA do? JPA best option is to try to realize their dream to be a doctor, while JPA has its budget constraint on how many students they can send on a particular course in a certain country. So, JPA would allocate some of these students to other countries.
So, would you rather get to become a doctor eventually or you had rather get a rejection letter from JPA, since you do not make the cut for UK Medicine. Remember that the selection does include your co-curricular activities, interview etc.

Just to inform that besides JPA scholarship, there is also Petronas(not out yet, I think) and Bank Negara scholarship
http://www.bnm.gov.my/index.php?ch=15&lang=en
Anyway, Bank Negara Schoalarship does not offer any engineering programs and it is quite hard to get it. The good news is, you do not need straight A1s to apply for it as the interviewers look for all rounded students. Once you are selected for the first round of interview, it all boils down to your performance during the interview.
