I'd like to know recommers opinons about what happened to form the state of israel? How it was formed? Is it legal? Is it illegal? Past, present and future. Lets talk about it. I know very little about the conflict and i dont want to go to biased sources to form an opinion about it so thats why ive come here to learn from recom about the history of israel/palestine and issues surrounding its formation.

You can always search about it in en.wikipedia.org. I find that website extremely useful and rather accurate.
Although I do know Palestine is not a country, unlike Israel. But the Palestinians have a proper head (eg, Prime Minister - not sure what term is used). They just do have a proper territory for their citizens to live.

PJkru, please be more specific in the future about your post. General topics like this are to had to be discussed.
Read about Israel and Palestine and come back and bring something you have doubts about, un satisfied about the conclusion you have made, or simply do not understand one or maybe few (no more then 3) particular things.
When you post a topic like this.. it is the equivalent of me asking, why do we need to Berak/Facate/Shit/Potty.

To Mod: Recommend moving out of "Malaysia Today" thread.

If I am an arms dealer, i would sell weapons to both sides so they can wipe each other of the face of the earth. Frankly, this pointless conflict has gone on far too long. The israelis, with their helicopter gunship attacks on Hamas leaders, makes them no different than the Muslim extremist they are fighting. They have become what they hate.
Incidentally, my favorite gun is the 50 cal "Desert Eagle", which coincidentally is created by the Israelis, It just goes to show, how divine mandate is often misused.

just drop an atom bomb there and everything will be finished...
i don't mean to be this sacarstic....but i have said this in another thread and i will say this again...
what is the use of shedding so much blood for this piece of land? is there anything special about this piece of desert that makes it so desired? is it so worthy of so many people killing themselves for the sake of killing others? was is so holy that no matter how much blood is shed, they will still go and have a war for that??
it's just a piece of land after all, like any other piece of land on this very earth...
think about that...and answer me later...

Well, to some of us who're not that spritual/religous (me included), we might not see the point of fighting/dying for a piece of land. But you can not deny the power of faith. They truly believe that the land is holy. If I'm not mistaken, that piece of land is holy to three different religions; Islam, Christianity and Judaism. This might be a lil off but think about this, the builders of Angkor Wat truly and completely believe that their rulers are gods and they were able to build that advanced and complex infrastructure. That is a rough (??) example of the power of faith.
It's not the matter of "why bother fighting?", it's the matter of "how to stop fighting?". However, both of the questions share the same trait; answers to both of 'em are almost impossible and at certain point unpractical to create peace in the mid-east.
It is not absolutely impossible but it is a very hard task. Even a group of the world's greatest leaders can't solve the problem. Hopefully, one day, they'll be able to stop the war and create peace.

I could be seriously wrong here but my take on this:
1. They will stop fighting when they can compromise. But I don't think there can be compromise where religion is concerned.
2. Israel should retreat to pre-six day war boundaries. At least they've already pulled out from the Gaza Strip though they don't seem to want to budge from the West Bank.
Jerusalem should be an international region controlled by the UN as according to the UN Partition Plan. If both sides can kill to have it, both sides shouldn't have it.
3. The Palestines should seriously reconsider if they really want Hamas in charge. Terrorist group that calls for Israel's destruction. Hmm, maybe Ahmadinejad is a member too.

after world war 2 the UN divided palestin into two separate states which is palestin itself and an independent sovereign zionist state which is israel .Israel was created as the save haven for the massive exodus of jewish refugee and the victim of holocaust-(a.k.a the final solution was the systematic genocide of the jews from the face of europe by hitler and nazis ) the separation infuriated the palestinians and this how the war between two countries started.
