Dentists in Malaysia are always in high demand, if my memory serves me right, the dentist-patient ratio is still 1:10000, and we are not going to reach the ratio as contrived in 2020, which is about 1:4000.

Yes, dentists in US, UK or Aussie are millionaires, but sadly, that's not the case in Malaysia. However, dentists in Malaysia still make a good living(provided you are highly-skilled, experienced).

Basic salary in government service for the first 3 years barely exceed RM 2000 (excluding allowance). I am not sure about pharmacy, but my advice is choose what you like, and what you are strong in, don't simply jump into one career without knowing what it is, you don't want to look at other's teeth and jaws for the entire life, do you?

If your passion is there, it will remain with you for the entire life and you will eventually do well in all your future endeavours.

From what I observed in every of your post, you seemed to put salary, income as the main priority in choosing your desired course. Well, if money is the motivating factor for you, why not business?

Good luck.

First, I would say biology is not medicine, but the fundamental principles in medicine is still biology. I am in no position to comment anything but one thing I am sure that, you are not going to materialize your dream of owning sports cars, bungalows if you choose to study medicine (or dent, pharm) in MALAYSIA. Yes, experienced specialists do earn a good living, provided the fact that you are really experienced and well-known, but not to the extent of earning millions and buying sports cars by the age of 30! If you are into that, sorry, I just think that the health care field is not for you, seriously.

For specialist, a dentist can choose either to be an Orthodontics, Endodontics, Cosmetic Dentistry, Paadeatric Dentistry or Forensic dentistry, these are just a few instances of specialization.

Medical practiotioners (i am referring to docs and dents) earn their money through hardwork, blood, and sweat and how much they put in determines how much they will be rewarded, there's simply no shortcut to achive the pinnacle in your medical career.

Again, think and think before you embark on the healthcare field, because if money is the inspiring factor for you, I personally think that you will not get what you dream of.

wow its so surprise to hear that if i want to earn millions very hard in health field... hmmm ur rite..then only field is business...am i rite..? anyway i really glad to know bout information that u have passed me on..thanks.especially bout the dentistry.. we must work hard if want to be a successful person. In malaysia everything hard..slow..maybe i should try harder to earn gud money..maybe i should reconsider about this matter..maybe i should dream to achieve everything at late age..anyway do u think u will achive a gud living at age of 30- 40.... atleast if can earn 15k per month would be so nice,...hmm...business...really out of my knowledge... no money to start business...haha..i must think wisely..i m interested in biology..so i would be considering of doing dentistry or medicine and then specialise....pharmacy also in my mind... can do masters n then involve in business..do u know anything bout industrial pharmacy..okie tc..thanks...so much

While the basis of medicine is in biology, I would say that a good grasping of concepts in physics and chemistry are equally, if not more more important. In the lectures, most of the time we are learning how does the body work through physical and chemical concepts. If one has a hard time appreciating Boyle's Law or fluid dynamics, he will find it harder to learn the lung and the heart.

If you want to be uber rich (I want too), you can still pursue dentistry. Dentist can become your minor income. Try to use the wages to invest in items like mutual funds and shares. There really isn't much need for you to get a BA or MBA to become millionaire. Everyone can becoming rich with the right mentality and luck. We dont quite need money to make money. You can always get a loan of RM5000, pay the deposit of a real estate of RM 3000. RM 2000 can be used as investments. When you manage to rent the house out, let's say your payment back of loan is around RM300 a month, rent out your house for RM350 a month. That way, you not only earn the RM2000, you also earn the RM50 every month without you actually using your own money. See? You dont really need money to make money. It's the tactic of using other people's money to earn your own money that counts. You can use dentistry wages as one of the assests when you apply for loan. If you are not 45 yet, I am sure bank loan wont be too difficult.

It is good that you have your own goal but remember this, no matter how rich you get, no matter how big the house you own, make sure you donate your money to the needy ones. I believe that everyone has the right to live a good life. Help those who need help. Dont keep everything to yourself. I will always try to donate my money to any charities that approach me. It is always a good thing to help, so help out.

Come on, although for you it may seem bad for people to dream of becoming rich one day, but I really think there's no need for such a sarcasm in our forum. Yes, one has to have dedication, commitment, inter-personal skills etc to be a nice dentist / doctor / anything, but at least sathyasri is thinking of becoming rich via a legal way.
