regarding SC's scholarship

hello everyone! i've been shortlisted for SC's scholarship programme.. and the interview is tomorrow at 2.15!!!! i need some help!!! i'm not so sure what SC is all about!!! i mean.. i've read over n over again at their website.. but i don't quite understand what they do?! do they help people to invest in companies? or something else??? PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME... and what happens if they ask me something and i don't know what to answer? :( what should i say when that happens?? would they even ask questions about SC?? i'm quite nervous right now.... this is my first interview! S.O.S!

ok, they have called all the shortlisted candidates on tuesday and wednesday. the FIRST interview will be conducted on Thursday and Friday. the results of the first interview will be notified by 1 week and only shorlisted candidates will be called for the SECOND interview.

my advice : better read up on SC... and maybe the 9 MP........ anyway, just be urself when answering personal questions (ie, why u choose this, why u like that etc)... all the best !

how did u know that there'll be 2 interviews??? the problem is.. I'VE READ about SC.. it's just that i don't understand it!!!! i'm soo stressed up right now.. cause i've been reading it over and over again. but i still don't understand what they're all about?!

there's a post somewhere in recom that talks about SC's interview. Apparently, damn tough. Got presentation, role playing and whatnots.

SC is to monitor the stock capital so that big players don't bully the small ones; public like us.
They play a big role.

Dear me - you are applying for a Securities Commission scholarship (which entails a bond to serve them for a few years) and you have no idea what they do?! :-)

The SC is a regulatory body, set up by statute. Its most important function is regulate our securities and capital markets. Basically, it creates (and enforces) the rules governing whether a company can be listed on the stock exchange. Once a company is listed, the SC continues to regulate the company - the SC creates and enforces rules about the annual disclosure/filing obligations, sale of shares, takeover mechanisms, etc.

You should also read up on the Capital Market Masterplan.

But just wondering... how was the interview??

hye kevinkent! the interview was okay i guess.... although, i think i screwed up here and there.... there were 2 questions that i didn't know what to answer... which i was suppose to actually just crap about something BUT i can't even think what to crap about.. so i said i'm not sure and for the other question i said i don't know.. (that is sooooo gonna pull me down) but i'm sorry cause i forgot what the questions were... i think the good part in the interview is that u should shake their hands when u greet them.. and u know what... I DIDN'T.. instead i said "nice to meet u" actually.. i think i did badly then... :( well.. this is my first interview... guess it was an experience. 2 interviewers interviewed me... should be the same with the other people that went there.... this was just the 1st round.... the 2nd round.. would for sure be much much tougher... and i think that one will be something like what chenchow said... 8O i have noooo idea

bleh. SC interview was one which i totally bombed (in my opinion).

1st round is a 2 interviewers 1 candidate interview, a getting-to-know-you sorta thing. but it reminded me a lot of job interview, in that sense it was quite stressful.

sample questions :

tell me about yourself.
describe what leadership posts you held and what you did.
do you consider youself innovative?
how can your chosen course contribute to SC?

*sigh* i dint prepare myself for sc cuz i recieved word like 2 days before had to go for the interview. ... and... i dunno... just thought it was really scary.

there is a second round of selections tho, doubt im getting it.

eve 88.. i totally agree with u.. i got their call 2 days earlier too!! can u imagine how the second round would be like... i mean.. the first round was already quite hard.. 8O

btw eve88, did u shake their hands?? i told my friend.. about me not shaking their hands and she was like "WHAT.. u should have!!"
at that time of the interview i wasn't sure to shake or not to shake haih haih
