"Determine never to be idle. No person will have occasion to complain of the want of time who never loses any. It is wonderful how much can be done if we are always doing." Thomas Jefferson - Sun in Aries - advising his daughter Martha, 1787.
Aries energy - motivated by inspiration and aspiration! Spontaneity! Ready for encounter! Fire on the mountain! The Fire energy of Aries can be warm, vital, vivacious, cheerful and loyal to whatever happens to hold its interest. Fire energy craves freedom and opportunity.... yep, a steady stream of opportunity for new experiences.
Fire energy can be assertive, competitive, ambitious and full of confidence for the future. Fire energy learns best when actively engaging and grabbing hold of life. Fire loves adventure and hates routine! To be potent and active is a key self-concept for Aries. Of all the fire signs, Aries is the most outgoing (and impulsive).
Ruled by the planet Mars (the Roman god of War), Aries energy is the most restless fire sign. Aries needs to constantly be up and doing. In the most ancient of times the Babylonians knew what we now call the planet of Mars to be their war deity named Nergal. A later identification of the Greek with Babylonian names was supposedly started by the quite mystical Pythagoreans, and during this period of time the Greeks often called this fiery planet the "star of Hercules." (They thought all the planets were wandering stars.) Cool, eh? Bet you didn't know that the Zodiac sign of Aries was associated with the ever popular Hercules. Even from the most ancient of times, Hercules has always been an incredibly popular hero. He was undoubtedly the number one favorite hero of the ancient Greeks. Yep! There's just something special about good old Herc.
Hercules
One small caution... if you're primarily acquainted with Hercules via "The Adventures of Hercules" starring Sun Sign Libra Kevin Sorbo (September 24, 1958), then it's important to keep in mind that Sorbo greatly softened up and refined the powerful raw imagery of Hercules for millions of happy and satisfied television viewers. As such, you're missing out on much of the impulsive, gritty, fiery, charge ahead, take no prisoners, warrior energy of Hercules. In mythology Hercules is perhaps best known for having completed what are called the 12 Labors of Hercules. It's likely that Hercules originally only completed 9 or 10 labors, and then a couple of extra labors were added on a wee bit later to bring the number up to 12. When reading all 12 of the Labors, it's fascinating to make note of the many connections between Hercules' 12 Labors and the Zodiac Signs of Aries and Scorpio, both of which were traditionally ruled by the warrior planet Mars. The 12 Labors of Hercules include plenty of good hard fighting action and adventure with Hercules constantly being confronted with and alternatively challenging the powers of the underworld and death.
Capturing the Man-eating Mares
Among those astrologers who like to associate the 12 Labors with the 12 Signs of the Zodiac, Hercules' Labor of Capturing the Man-eating Mares is the Labor most often associated with the Zodiac Sign of Aries. In this Labor Diomedes, a son of Mars, ruled the Thracian tribe of Bistonia. There in the marshes of Bistonia Diomedes raised man-eating mares of war. So fierce were these man-eating mares that all men were said to tremble at the sound of their hooves. The mares ravaged the land, wreaking damage and killing all who crossed their path. Certain of the accounts say that there were four of these mares, and Diomedes fed them with the flesh of unsuspecting visitors to his kingdom. Capturing these fierce and murderous mares was to be Hercules' Labor.
To help out in this Labor, Hercules set sail for Bistonia with a band of comrades. Depending upon the account Hercules and his comrades relentlessly tracked down and followed the mares as they ranged across the vast meadows and marshes of Bistonia. Finally, Hercules cornered the wild mares in a field where there was no place left for them to escape. Hercules caught and tethered the horses, and then let out a great whoop of joy at his success.
At this point, it was discovered that Diomedes had sent a troop of soldiers to recapture the mares. Hercules made the rash decision that his efforts would be much better spent in fighting off the troops of Diomedes. So Hercules called upon the youngest of his comrades, Abderos. Hercules gave over to young, inexperienced Abderos the duty of completing the task by driving the horses back alone. However, unaided by the strength and experience of Hercules, Abderos quickly became fearful of completing the task. Abderos discovered that he could not hold the mares, harness them, or drive them back. The horses, smelling fear, turned on young Abderos. Killing Abderos, the horses and mares then escaped into the even wilder lands of Diomedes' kingdom. In the meantime, Hercules fought off the Bistone troops and killed Diomedes. Grief-stricken and discouraged at the death of young Abderos, Hercules returned to his task. Leaving behind his dead friend, Hercules again followed the mares from place to place. He once again captured the mares, this time driving them back by himself. Problem was that his good friend Abderos now lay dead. In honor of Abderos, Hercules founded the city of Abdera.
The Pioneer
Aries is the pioneering energy of the Zodiac. As such, Aries is quick to take action, initiative, and get things rolling. However, Aries really doesn?t prefer to be the one responsible for "the long haul" and/or seeing things through. (It?s generally better to leave that sort of thing to a nice dependable earth sign like Capricorn or Virgo. Just take care that they don't end up dead like poor old Abderos.) In the circle of the Zodiac, Aries is the archetypal first sign. Being the first rush of energy (archetypally speaking), the active, in-your-face, hot-blooded, pioneering energy of Aries learns that if you push hard enough and talk loud enough - then the world will often come running to your door. On an archetypal, universal level, Aries is usually seeking just about anything other than the peace, serenity, and/or harmony commonly found in the 2nd Zodiac sign of Taurus...
Individuals living out the fuller potentials contained within Aries may be energetic, buoyant, enthusiastic and warm. With the Sun in Aries, this fiery, energetic attitude may have been the way you perceived the image of your father (or another significant male figure) when you were young and still in the early stages of childhood. One more thing Sun in Aries (before you rush off) - I'm pretty sure the saying, "Look before you leap!" was referring specifically to the Sun in Aries. Just remember that you can become so busy forging ahead and making new paths, that you fail to notice that person sneaking up to stab you in the back or the good friend you left far behind. Your birth Sun is the hero of your mythic journey through this lifetime. So Let Your Light Shine!

Regardless of whether you're a male or female, the very first love of your life was your mother (or if mom was absent, then another mother figure in your environment). The Moon symbolizes the unconscious, instincts, and what you need to feel nurtured in your life. The Moon is the "place" where we go for comfort when scared.... and we tend to unconsciously nurture ourselves in much the same way our mothers nurtured and cared for us when we were very young children.
With the Moon in Aries, you have an emotional need for action and independence. You are the emotional "pioneer" and "motivator" of the Zodiac - and you may get easily bored when things seem to get a wee bit too dull. When under stress you will seek a challenge and time to be on your own. As a very young child, you may have experienced your mother as being fiery, independent, and (possibly) a wee bit impatient and angry. Therefore, as an adult, you may feel emotionally safer when there's a lot of activity, movement, and action going on around you. During those inevitable "crisis moments," you tend to be an initiator and leader in your surroundings. In a crisis, doing anything is much preferable to sitting around and doing nothing. Like they say: "When the times get tough, the tough get going." Under stress, you may also have a wee bit of a temper with an extremely short fuse. However, these moments of intense anger are usually rather short-lived for you. Chances are you've moved on and "gotten over" whatever (or whoever) originally caused the original slight - while the "guilty" party is still busy trying to figure out what in the heck happened.
To help relieve stress on a day to day basis, consider taking up an vigorous physical hobby and/or individual sport where you can get rid of your pent up anger and/or energy. Pound a hammer, hit a punching bag, or run a mile. Looking for a stress relieving vacation? You'll generally do a much better job of reducing your level of stress by planning a vacation where you can stay active and moving.

Taurus
http://www.recom.org/modules/coppermine/albums/userpics/10770/bltaurus.pngSun in Taurus
Taurus energy - practical, solid, and reliable - dislikes change and may be slow to get moving. It’s difficult to change the mind of Taurus... for that matter, may be impossible to move or change Taurus! And the harder people try - the harder Taurus digs in. Why?
Taurus is a "fixed earth sign." For the Sun placed in earth - life is a world of concrete reality and sensory perception, with roots solidly built on earthy, physical sensations. The Sun in earth feels most comfortable when surrounded with the world of the five senses... With the Sun in Taurus? Whatever cannot be touched, heard, smelled, seen or tasted is either denied or made as concrete and tangible as possible.
Taurean energy, ruled by the planet of Venus, has built itself a reputation for being possessive and valuing material things. But the apparent materialistic outlook of Taurus is not primarily based on high-minded and/or ideological beliefs. It’s just that Taurean energy feels a heck of a lot safer when owning plenty of real, solid, possessions. Taurus says: "I feel oh so much safer when I can HOLD onto something solid, real, and tangible in my hands (and in my heart). Taurus, being in the element of earth, has a consciousness sold on physical security... sold on "the here and the now." Of all the earth signs, Taurus energy has the greatest need for physical security. And the search for security can often tend to make Taurus a wee bit conservative, possessive, and practical.
Taurus is also the Zodiacal sign with the greatest need for having a sense of inner self-worth and value. To accomplish this task, Taurus needs a solid sense of internal harmony that goes deep down into his/her innermost marrow and bones. Among other things, this need for inner-harmony means that Taurus needs to sense that he/she is being practical, productive, and fruitful. Don't kid yourself. Taurus is not necessarily seeking this harmony in order to please another person, the world, or even his/her God. In doing this, it seems to me that Taurus is ultimately seeking a sense of inner-quiet, harmony, and serenity within him or herself. Taurus seeks a solid sense of inner-quiet, harmony, and serenity that says: "all is well in the moment" (and all is well in my immediate surrounding environment).
One more thing, Taurus... Scorpio most often gets the nod for being the "sex sign." But we both know a little secret (don't we). The earth sign Taurus is specifically associated with survival "through awareness of the senses." Associated with the garden of paradise... Taurus reflects a childlike innocence and naivet? concerning the senses and the fulfillment of instinctual sexual needs. Barring other factors in the chart - of all the signs, you feel the strongest instinctual urge and need for touching and caressing. When it comes down to experiencing pure unbridled physical pleasure and sensuality, Taurus is often in a category all its own.
Need one final clue in understanding the archetypal energy of Taurus? In the circle of the Zodiac, Taurus is the second sign. In the first zodiacal sign we have the sign of Aries. Archetypally, Aries is usually seeking just about anything other than peace, serenity, and/or harmony... Active, in-your-face, hot-blooded, pioneering Aries learns that if you push hard enough and talk loud enough - then the world will often come running to your door. On the other hand, archetypal Taurus says "Okay folks... now that I've already learned all about what I can do (Aries) - let me sit back, live in harmony, and enjoy all the wonderful fruits of my labor!"
There was a cherished and favorite maxim during the European Renaissance that fits in quite well here: "Festina leste!" Translated this is: "Make haste, slowly!"
Your birth Sun is the hero of your mythic journey through this lifetime. So let Your Light Shine!

As adults, the Moon is the "place" where we go for comfort when scared and frightened.... and we tend to unconsciously nurture ourselves in much the same way our mothers nurtured and cared for us when we were very young children.
With the Moon in Taurus, you dislike change in your surroundings. You may have seen your mother as being earthy, traditional, steady, and very reliable. So, as an adult, you now have an unconscious emotional need for stability and steady routines. The more familiar and unchanging your environment, the safer you'll feel. To help protect your sense of safety, you may attempt to rigidly hold on to and control your environment by keeping out any and all unnecessary change, disruption, and/or chaos. Because you feel the safest when surrounded by physical, tangible things that you can touch, see, smell, taste, and hear - you may seek out ways to physically "pamper" yourself when under stress. Physical closeness, touch, and affection are the best ways your "significant other" can express (and reassure) you of their love. (i.e. A hug a day keeps the doctor away.) Likewise, your lover withholding physical expressions of love and affection is an ironclad, guaranteed way to make you feel all alone and unloved.
Other ways you handle day to day stress? As mentioned above, you have a very strong affinity for the pleasurable earthy sensations of touch, taste, smell, sight, and hearing. Thus, there are several different sensory avenues you may instinctively choose when seeking relief from the stress of day to day life. However, the two most common methods are love of food and love of sex. These two main avenues, food and sex, are due mainly to the fact that both really good food and really good sex are capable of satisfying all five of your physical senses - touch, taste, smell, sight, and hearing - at the same time. Other ways you may seek relief? Relaxing in a comfortable easy chair while listening to music… getting a weekly massage at the local health spa. Planning that dream vacation? I sincerely hope it includes being pampered and spoiled until you cry out for mercy.

Gemini
http://www.recom.org/modules/coppermine/albums/userpics/10770/blgemini.pngSun in Gemini
"That only which we have within, can we see without. If we meet no Gods, it is because we harbor none. If there is a grandeur in you, you will find grandeur in porters and sweeps." - Ralph Waldo Emerson, Sun in Gemini
Gemini - ruled by the Roman messenger god, Mercury - is associated with communications. Hermes is the god of speech, and he is the god of silence. He is the eternal youth, puer aeternus; he is old man senex messenger to the dead. He is the talisman of the slick talking, road savvy, traveling salesman who is continually chasing down the virtues of the farmer's virginal daughters. He is the protector of merchants and tavern owners. He is the patron and benefactor of pickpockets, highway bandits, thieves, rogues, liars, hucksters, and scoundrels. He is jester, joker, fool, trickster, magician, genius, shaman, and psychopomp.
Mercury is lighter than air itself... Gemini’s quick-witted changeable energy may at times appear to others as being scattered, disorganized and chaotic. But there’s usually method to Gemini’s madness! (Although, truthfully, sometimes even Gemini’s constantly active right hand doesn’t know what his/her constantly moving left hand is up to.) And with the Sun in Gemini, you may also have a maddening tendency to "bend" the truth at times. Gemini energy also tends to be more than a wee bit skeptical of "eternal truths." Like Pilate (in the Gospel of John), your slogan might be: "What is truth?" In fact, I like to call Gemini "the great skeptic."
The Gemini Sun is located in the element of air... Air signs are stimulated mentally and tend to have a detached perspective... Air is motivated and recharged by intellectual concepts, social interchanges, and the communication of ideas and/or ideals... The element of air (barring other factors) tends to produce a fairly active mind. The world is approached with reason and everything (everyone) is open to analysis.
Gemini is communicative, versatile, can be talkative, and is very curious. Curious, curious, curious... I’ll say it one more time - curious. Gemini energy loves to know how things work. And Gemini energy thrives on knowing what makes other people tick. And when curiosity gets the better of Gemini energy, Gemini may even say scandalous, shocking things or perform outrageous acts for no other purpose or reason than Gemini was "curious" and wanted to see what would happen.
Gemini enjoys knowing a little about everything, and Gemini can be the penultimate "jack of all trades, master of none..." Now, of course, I also know that Gemini can get a bit upset over this notoriety and their alleged expertise in skimming the surface of subjects. But tell the truth... We both know it’s a reputation which has been honestly earned (don’t we, Gemini)? C'mon, you can't kid a kidder!
And one more important thing to know about Gemini... Hermes (Mercury, the ruler of Gemini), by some accounts, was the god who originally owned and wore the "Helmet of Invisibility." This Helmet happens to be the very same Helmet of Invisibility more typically associated with the hidden god of the underworld Hades (Pluto, the ruler of Scorpio). Apparently Hades was merely borrowing the helmet from Hermes. So Mercury (the ruler of Gemini), like Pluto, revels in (and loves) working silently, invisibly behind the scenes. So, while Scorpio is the sign most notorious for being secretive, Gemini is certainly no slacker in the area of being secretive and keeping things under their hat.

Regardless of whether you're a male or female, the very first love of your life was your mother (or if mom was absent, then another mother figure in your environment). The Moon symbolizes the unconscious, instincts, and what you need to feel nurtured in your life.
With the Moon in Gemini, you have a strong need for mental stimulation and communication. You have an insatiable, irrepressible sense of curiosity, and you seek answers to many questions. Barring other factors in the birth chart, you have a strong tendency to be a "chatterbox." In fact, your friends would probably say you're one of those people who could carry on an interesting conversation with a telephone pole. The Moon is the "place" where we go for comfort when scared.... and we tend to unconsciously nurture ourselves in much the same way our mothers nurtured and cared for us when we were very young children. As a very young child, you may have expected your mother to provide you with plenty of stimulation, communication, and mental activity. As an adult, you now feel the safest and most nurtured when actively communicating and sharing information with others. Therefore, when involved in a close friendship or an intimate relationship with a lover - you feel the powerful, emotional need to share and fully communicate with the other person regarding any (and all) of the experiences of the day. Warning! One of the most hurtful things your partner or "significant other" can do is impatiently, patronizingly rush or hurry you along when you're involved in a conversation with a friend or even a casual acquaintance. (Been there - and, sadly enough, done that...)
Seeing someone new in your life? Feeling especially emotionally vulnerable immediately after the first intimate "encounter" with your new lover? You'll most likely find yourself endlessly quizzing your new lover on exactly how it felt and asking them to communicate in vivid detail what the experience was like for them.
Stressed out by the events of the day? Call up a close friend on the telephone and tell them all about it. Bored to tears? Learn how to do something new, interesting, and mentally stimulating. Here are a couple of hobby suggestions for your chatty self: Join a local amateur thespian group and perform a little Shakespeare in the evenings. Or how about join Toastmasters and practice up on your public speaking skills. Where to go on a vacation? Is there a special place which has always piqued your interest and sense of curiosity?

Gemini
http://www.recom.org/modules/coppermine/albums/userpics/10770/blgemini.pngSun in Gemini
Your birth Sun is the hero of your mythic journey through this lifetime. So Let Your Light Shine!

Cancer
http://www.recom.org/modules/coppermine/albums/userpics/10770/blcancer.pngSun in Cancer
Before we get started, Sun Sign Cancer... You and I both know we've never seen or read a totally satisfying description of the Zodiac Sign Cancer. I can't begin to tell you how many Sun Sign Cancers complain about the how the typical descriptions of Cancer don't fit them. (I could take a "cheap shot" about nagging and complaining, but I won't go there.) Sadly, I doubt I'll do much better in my modest attempt to describe the energies of Cancer.
Why? Cancer is located in the astrological element of Water. Of the four astrological elements (Fire, Earth, Air, and Water) - Water is the most ancient, primitive, and instinctual. Being the most primal element, Water is also the element furthest away from rational, describable, consciousness and thought. Thus, Water energy tends to defy our meager attempts at coming up with rational explanations and descriptions. Astrologically, the element of water is associated with feeling, sensitivity, and emotion. All three Signs placed in the element of Water (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces) are rather difficult to describe and/or measure out their true essence. However... Cancer, ruled by the mysterious Moon of the night, is perhaps the Water Sign furthest removed from "light of day" consciousness and description. At least that's my story (and I'm sticking to it.).
Want to know two of the most fascinating bits of traditional trivia regarding the ancient descriptions of the Zodiacal Sign Cancer? I thought so... First - believe it or not - none of the ancient descriptions of Cancer mentioned the words "mother," "cooking," or "cleaning" a single time. The second bit of trivia is that prior to being named the constellation of Cancer, your constellation was known as "the Asses' Crib." What's that about? (Actually, you can check out my description of the Cancer constellation to find out.)
Okay... okay... I suppose I've stalled long enough... truth is that I know I'm quite safe in your thoughtful and caring hands. I never cease to be amazed at how many of you kind Cancer folks write in to reassure me that I've done a pretty good job. So I'll go ahead and give this my best shot.
Nurturing, protective, tenacious, emotional sensitivity, and valuing strong traditional roots. Cancer is the archetypal image of the bond between mother and son (as well as the bond between father and daughter)... Ruled by the ever-changing, but ever faithful Moon - Cancer reflects the mysterious, continual cycles of nature... Cancer reflects the ebb and flow of the tides - and, as such, reflects the ebb and flow of emotions. This varying (ebb and flow) moods of "wild child" Cancerians are often a puzzlement to everyone around, including the Cancer Sun who's having the mood. However, from the very beginning of time, the Moon was seen by our most ancient ancestors as nurturing and generous - yet [paradoxically] could likewise be an undependable, clever, and dangerous trickster. Ouch!
To better demonstrate this Lunar paradox, here's a traditional African folk tale: "Sun and Moon are real siblings. They played clever tricks on each other. Moon said to Sun: we want to throw our children into the water. The Sun agreed. When the agreed upon time came, Moon hid its children, searched for white pebbles and put them in a sack. Sun, however knew nothing about this and really did take all of its children and put them in a sack. So they set out on their way and came to the bank of a river. Moon emptied its pebble filled sack and emptied it into the river. Thus the Sun was deceived and shook its children into the river." ["Afrikanische Marchen;" C. Meinhof] According to this folk tale - Luna, Queen of the Heavens [the Moon], is now always accompanied by her children [the stars] of the night. The Sun's children became fish, populated the waters, and now feed humankind.
People with the Sun in watery (i.e. feeling) Cancer generally thrive and flourish best when developing an emotional relationship with their immediate surroundings. Hard cold logic doesn't have the chance of a proverbial snowflake in a snowstorm when it comes to the energies of Cancer. This is because Cancer's strong preference is to evaluate everyone and everything in terms of feelings and values. "How will I feel if I do that?" "Will I still be able to live with myself if I say that?" You also tend to show your feelings more readily than do the other water signs (Scorpio and Pisces) and so may feel incredibly vulnerable because others seem to have easy access to your emotional life. This is part of why you may often resort to the infamous "Crab Sidestep" - in the attempt to hide your highly sensitive nature from others.
Because of this emotional sensitivity, the "Crab" is seldom genuinely comfy and cozy when in a wider and more impersonal social setting, So you may tend to create a small, enclosed environment (called a home) and honor only a very few select people by allowing them into your sphere of influence. However, with those powerful Crab pinchers of yours, once you do allow someone or something into your sphere - you often experience great difficulty letting go (even when you know you ought to). This stubborn refusal of emotionally letting go applies to people, traditions, and possessions. Remember that piece of kite string you acquired thirty years ago and squirreled away in the very back of a dresser drawer? Yep, better hang on to that piece of kite string. You never know when you might need it for something useful... That rainy day you've been planning for? It might end up being tomorrow. One never knows about these things, do they?

With the Moon in Cancer, you feel the safest when being emotionally nurtured and cared for or (on the other hand) when emotionally nurturing and taking care of others. As a young child, you most likely formed a strong bond with your mother? Because of this strong bond, you may have difficulty in breaking away from home later in life. You perceived Mom as being an emotionally nurturing, caring individual. You, however, now recognize that mother may have at times sought to control you with a strong dose of emotional guilt, and so you've discovered that this is often one of the instinctual ways you fall back on when attempting to control your environment (and thus make) your environment feel safer. Under stress, your first instinct is to merge and blend in with your environment. If surrounded by "saints," you'll be a saint. If surrounded by "sinners," you'll be a sinner. When things get to be a wee bit too much, you'll most likely want to retire to the comfort and safety of your home.
Pamper yourself on occasion by taking a nice long warm scented bath. Water has a special way of cleansing and rejuvenating your Cancer Moon. Another excellent stress relieving technique is having a special time set aside each day to be by yourself. Go ahead - throw everyone out of your special private room (you do have one, don't you?) for an hour or two and then escape into a good romantic novel or movie. Looking for something meaningful to do with your free time? Try volunteering your services at a local nursing home or at a children's hospital. They can certainly use the extra help, and it will bring sense of purpose and meaning to your life. Need to get away on a relaxing vacation? Visit cities and town's located on rivers, and reserve a hotel room with a view of the river. If you happen to be the active type - then give yourself a treat by going on one of those wild white water river rafting trips.

Leo
http://www.recom.org/modules/coppermine/albums/userpics/10770/blleo.pngSun in Leo
Leoian energy - motivated by inspiration and aspiration! Spontaneity! Ready for encounter! Fire on the mountain! Fire energy can be warm, vital, vivacious, cheerful and loyal to whatever happens to hold its interest. Fire energy craves freedom and opportunity and yep, a steady stream of opportunity for new experiences.
The Fire energy of royal Leo can be assertive, competitive, ambitious and full of confidence for the future. Fire energy learns best when actively engaging in and grabbing hold of life. Fire loves adventure and hates routine!
I suppose you’ve heard the phrase, "Fake it, till you make it!" Well, Leoian energy builds self-confidence, by putting on demonstrations and shows of bravado. By acting self-confident, Leoian energy becomes self-confident in truth as well as deed. "It's all right letting yourself go as long as you can let yourself back." Mick Jagger, Sun in Leo British singer
As fixed fire, Leoian energy is much more self-reflective and inner-directed than the average person might ever suspect. Although, since you’re reading this description, it means your Sun is placed in Leo and that morsel of insightful information shouldn’t be much of a revelation. Over the years you’ve learned that, first and foremost, you have to be able to live with and please yourself. You have the strong, burning inner-desire for self-authenticity. So, "to thine own self be true" could be another really good Leoian motto.
Ruled the Sun, creative Leoian energy is colored by an overall strong sense of drama and "bigness." Leo sees the "big picture" of possibilities for the future and for success. Playful, creative, warm-hearted, risk taking are all characteristics common to Leonians who are living out the fullest potential of their birth sun placement.
Let's do something extra special for the Zodiac Sign of Leo ruled by the Sun. Rather than doing the normal thing, looking to Greek mythology, I thought I'd suggest your reading a special story that Rabbi (and astrologer) Joel Dobbins calls the story of the first "star-crossed" lovers in the Judaic/Christian scriptures. I don't mind telling you that this was one of my very favorite bible stories while growing up. The story I want you to read is a story of big action, big violence, big lust, big betrayal, big game playing, big bets, big egos, big revenge, and (last, but not least) big hair. And no, believe it or not, it's not the story of my life…
According to Rabbi Dobbins, it's an "opposites attract" love story between a Leo man (ruled by the Sun) and an Aquarius woman (ruled by Saturn and Uranus). Believe it or not, you're likely already more than a wee bit familiar with this story contained in the Book of Judges. It's the story of Samson and Delilah. You know... Samson is the guy who couldn't cut his hair, killed a lion, was betrayed by his woman Delilah, ended up blind, and (in the end) managed to single handedly bring down a pagan temple.
So why, you might ask, does Rabbi Dobbins call Samson and Delilah "star-crossed" lovers? One of things that Rabbi Dobbins knows (that you likely don't know) is that the name Samson means, "belonging to the Sun." Even more interesting (and more "telling") is that Delilah's name means, "she of Aquarius." Aquarius is the Zodiac Sign opposite the Zodiac Sign of Leo ruled by the Sun. According to Rabbi Dobbins, the story of Samson is divided into two parts, the prologue and the main tale concerning Delilah. The period of time that passes between the prologue and the story of Delilah is 20 years. The prologue, which is the longer part of the story, establishes the character of Samson. The character revealed in the prologue is that which is, oh so, typical of a young studdly Leo male in his prime. The Delilah part of the story tells us of an older Leo past his prime. (And do any of you old hippie types out there remember Sun Sign Leo David Crosby's "Leo anthem" of the late 1960s "I Almost Cut My Hair.") If you can't remember the details of the full story, then maybe it's time to dig out that Bible you've got tucked away somewhere.
With the Sun in Leo, this fiery, bold, and energetic attitude may have been the way you perceived the image of your father (or another significant male figure) when you were young and still in the early stages of childhood. Your birth Sun is the hero of your mythic journey through this lifetime. So Let Your Light Shine!
http://www.recom.org/modules/coppermine/albums/userpics/10770/blleo2.pngMoon in Leo
Regardless of whether you're a male or female, the very first love of your life was your mother (or if mom was absent, then another mother figure in your environment). The Moon symbolizes the unconscious, instincts, and what you need to feel nurtured in your life.
With the Moon in Leo, you are emotionally generous and very warmhearted. You have a strong emotional need for praise and attention. Under stress you may show off in order to gain attention, or become a wee bit arrogant. As a very young child, you may been very proud of your mother, or you feel she was specially proud of you. You probably saw Mom as being a powerful, warm-hearted, special, and creative woman. The Moon is the "place" where we go for comfort when scared.... and we tend to unconsciously nurture ourselves in much the same way our mothers nurtured and cared for us when we were very young children. Therefore, when under stress, you have an instinctual need to feel special, unique, and recognized. Feeling proud of yourself is how you feel the safest, the most loved, and the most nurtured. You may also have a maddening tendency toward "one-upmanship" (i.e. "anything you can do, I can do better").
For day to day relief of stress? Here are a couple of suggestions you might consider as hobbies: Joining a local amateur thespian group and performing a little Shakespeare in the evenings. Or how about joining Toastmasters and practicing up on your public speaking skills. But whatever you choose to do during your free time? Be sure to feed your generous, warmhearted Leo Moon by: playing hard, having lots of fun, and (if you're a parent) spending time with and doing plenty of fun stuff with your children. Dream vacation? The same rule of thumb applies. The only requirement is it’s got to be a lot of fun, with plenty of time set aside for play. If you’re a parent, then taking your kids on a magical journey to Disneyland or other amusement park might be “just the ticket.” Your kids will love it and so will your playful inner-child.

Virgo
http://www.recom.org/modules/coppermine/albums/userpics/10770/blvirgo.pngSun in Virgo
Virgo? Here are a few key words and phrases: earthy, practical, and discriminating. Save the day... preserve things... build bridges... fix things... being of service... solving practical problems... Any of this sound even vaguely familiar, Virgo? I thought so... But hang in there with me until the end. If you stay with me until the very end, you might even hear a few new and surprising thoughts about the sign of Virgo.
Perfectionism
One of the main keys to understanding Virgo (that I failed to mention just above)? "Perfectionism." Virgo is constantly aiming toward the eternally elusive goal of being "perfect." At the same time, Virgo is painfully aware they're lacking in the area of perfection and constantly coming up short of their goal. Because of this unconscious need for perfection, Virgo has gained the reputation of being the Zodiacal "neat freak." And unfortunately because Virgo often extends their unconscious need for perfection to the people around them, Virgo has also earned the reputation of being overly critical in their interactions with loved ones.
C'mon... you've heard the tired old traditional line of thought? It's been said that Virgos have never found a house that they couldn't clean just a little bit better. However, as shocking as it might seem - many Virgos are total, absolute slobs when it comes to picking up around the house. True enough... some Virgos are typically into organization, discrimination, and neatness in their surrounding physical environment (thus the reputation). However, on the other hand, many other Virgos are into "mental" neatness and have the tidiest, most organized minds you'll ever hope to come across in this (or any other) lifetime. So some Virgos are primarily into "physical" manifestations of neatness, many other Virgos are primarily into "mental" organization, and some Virgos fall into the middle and are into a little of both.
Practical Intelligence
With the Sun in Virgo, you are hardwired to be especially attuned to the element of in Earth... The element of Earth is a world of concrete reality, sensory perception, and roots built on earthy, physical sensations. The Sun in earth feels most comfortable when surrounded with the world of the five senses... Whatever cannot be touched, heard, smelled, seen or tasted is either denied or made as concrete and tangible as possible. The Sun in Earth is a consciousness sold on physical security - sold on the here and the now. And the search for security can often tend to make one a wee bit conservative and practical.
Ruled by Mercury, Virgo energy often "shimmers" with intelligence. As with it’s flightier cousin, Gemini, (also ruled by Mercury) Virgo is a "mental" sign. However, Virgo’s Mercurian intelligence is directed toward practical matters and practical solutions. And Virgo desperately wants to be of practical service by fixing things, situations, or people. Virgo is the one Zodiac sign with the innate ability to literally turn a sow's ear into a silk purse. And, whether it's in Virgo's physical surroundings or in their neatly organized minds, Virgo energy enjoys focusing in on the very smallest of details.
Hestia's Hearth
As the Celestial Virgin of the Zodiac, Virgo is traditionally associated with several different virgin goddesses. However, I prefer a somewhat "off the beaten track," nontraditional association for the Zodiac Sign of Virgo. I associate Virgo with a virgin goddess by the name of Hestia. It's quite possible you may have never even heard of the virgin goddess, Hestia?... Although she was one of the twelve Olympian deities, Hestia has no grand stories or myths depicting her deeds among mortals - and there were almost no ancient images of Hestia. Further, there were no Greek temples devoted specifically to her...
However, Hestia's consecrated and sacred hearth could be found in the center of each and every temple honoring the other Greek gods and goddesses... Hestia's hearth could also be found in every home.
Hestia's hearth was an ancient ancestor of today's modern utility of convenience and comfort, called the "central heating unit." Still more aptly, I remember the "ancient" gas furnace of my childhood home. Our "hearth" was located in the center of our home - with vents for each of the rooms directly adjoining the central furnace. I remember - on especially cold winter nights - my older sister and I jockeying back and forth for the honored spot directly in front of the living room vent. It's a good bet that Hestia's hearth was equally honored on cold nights in ancient Greece...
Hestia's Wholeness
Hestia's deep abiding presence was in the center of each and every fire - and Hestia's fire served to make sacred whatever place it dwelled. As mentioned previously, Hestia's hearth could be found in every Greek temple and in every Greek home. As such, Virgonian energies archetypically tend to center around issues of spirituality and the home.
As such, the life giving imago and symbol of Hestia's quiet, warm, centering energies can potentially provide Virgo with a deep sense of "centered wholeness." When Virgo finally "gives up the ghost" and allows Hestia to fill them with her qualities and attributes, Virgo is then initiated into the eternal mysteries of the virgin goddesses. And what are the eternal mysteries of the virgin goddesses? Simply put... that true perfection (telios) lies within the deep inner affirmation and inner "knowing" that simply being who you are, and being centered in who you are, is "good enough." Thus, the quiet and unimposing example of the virgin goddess Hestia can serve as Virgo's redemption by setting Virgo free from the curse of "Perfectionism." When (and if) this happens (often occurring later in life), then Virgo can finally let go of the compulsive need to capture the elusive, unobtainable butterfly of "Perfectionism." (I told you to hang in there with me...)
Virginal?
One final note... regarding the concept of "virginity" as associated with Virgo (and with the other virgin goddesses of ancient Greece)? It's not that the virgin goddesses disliked men - and it's not that they were "virgins" in the manner the term "virgin" is typically used today. In ancient Greece, being a virgin (unmarried) goddess simply meant they lived their lives for themselves... Although Hestia's life was focused on the home (and the many practical tasks regarding running the home) - as with the other virgin goddesses of ancient Greece - her life did not revolve (or center) around the pleasing of a mate (whether god or mortal).
Virginal, cold, frigid? Think again! As I said in the beginning, whenever the Sun is placed in the astrological element of earth - it's a world of concrete reality, sensory perception, and roots built on earthy, physical sensations. The Sun in earth feels most comfortable when surrounded with the world of the five senses... sense of touch, sound, smell, sight, and taste. Sounds downright hot, sexy, and sensual, doesn't it? In the privacy of their own home (and behind closed doors), Virgonian energy may be anything other than what one might typically associate with being "virginal." Whew! (Wiping the cold sweat from my brow...)
Your birth Sun is the hero of your mythic journey through this lifetime. So Let Your Light Shine!

With the Moon in Virgo, you will experience a strong link between the emotions and the body. You have a need for perfection (that you can never quite achieve). You may become ill when under stress. As a very young child, you may have experienced your mother as being a down-to-earth, individual who was rather critical and/or fussy. She was a perfectionist. The Moon is the "place" where we go for comfort when scared.... and we tend to unconsciously nurture ourselves in much the same way our mothers nurtured and cared for us when we were very young children. You feel the safest when being useful and productive. If you can "figure out" and analyze your environment, then you'll generally feel a lot safer. As an emotional defense against stress, the more uncomfortable you feel with your environment - the more critical, fussy, and petty you tend to become.
With the Moon with the earthy sign of Virgo? The nicest things your partner can do to reassure you of their continuing love are those little everyday practical expressions of affection which include sharing equally in the household chores or by bringing you a cup of chicken soup when you're sick. Also physical closeness, touch, and affection are often the best ways your "significant other" can express (and reassure) you of their love. (i.e. A hug a day keeps the doctor away.) Likewise, your lover withholding physical expressions of love and affection is an ironclad, guaranteed way to make you feel all alone and unloved.
Dealing with day to day stress? There are "physically directed" Virgonians, and there are "mentally directed" Virgonians. If you happen to fall into the first category, then doing a thorough cleaning of your house is a surefire way to handle and relieve stress. The second category of "mentally directed" Virgonians relieve stress best with activities consisting of mental organization and mental housecleaning. Hobbies? Volunteer at the local hospital or a nursing home. Dream vacation? Just make doubly sure the hotel room is clean, neat, and orderly.

Scorpio
http://www.recom.org/modules/coppermine/albums/userpics/10770/blscorpio.pngSun in Scorpio
Typical descriptions of the Sun in Scorpio are that you are a passionate and intense individual. You may gain attention through creating dramatic situations. You may also be secretive. A few of the characteristics you should consciously seek to develop in your life are: Intensity, magnetism, your penetrating perception, and your power to confront (honestly with mercy) Blah... blah... blah... You've heard all of this before, haven't you? So let's get down to it! .
Truth is Scorpio Sun? We both know you have the most powerful of the twelve Sun Signs, bar none. So I have a story to share with you about your Sun in Scorpio. This story is about the Medusa and the winged horse named Pegasus... But in order to get to Pegasus, you've first got to make it past the deadly Medusa. C'mon! You remember the Medusa, don't you?...
One of the Gorgon Sisters
The Gorgon sisters were the three ladies who turned men into stone just by looking at them. Once upon a time, the Gorgons were beautiful, desirable women. The most beautiful of the sisters, Medusa, happened to catch the attention of the god Poseidon (the god of the oceans and waterways). Smitten with desire for Medusa, Poseidon set out about seducing her... And to make a long story short, they got together for one grand and glorious night of wild, passionate lovemaking in the temple of Athena.
Unfortunately, the temple of Athena was an extremely bad choice of places to get together and do the wild thing... Athena (being a chaste, virgin goddess) was terribly offended by this sort of rude and crude behavior going on in her sacred temple... And so, Athena's punishment was to curse Medusa and her two sisters with sheer, unadulterated ugliness and with writhing, venomous snakes growing out of their heads! In spite of their monstrous condition, the sisters were terrifyingly beautiful and seductive to behold. No man encountering the infamous Gorgons (knowing it was instant death) could avert his gaze from the terrifyingly beautiful Gorgon sisters...
Perseus
We learn the most about the Gorgons in the adventures of the Greek hero, Perseus. (You may remember this story from that movie "The Clash of the Titans" starring Sun Sign Scorpio, Harry Hamlin.) For various reasons, Perseus has foolishly (yet heroically) sworn to a king that he (Perseus) will bring back the head of the dreaded Medusa on a platter. (Of the three Gorgon sisters, only the Medusa was mortal and could be killed...)
Perseus, aided by gifts of Athena and Hermes (a golden shield and a swift sword) locates the cave of the Gorgons. Luckily for Perseus, the Gorgons were sleeping soundly. But Perseus can't avert his eyes from the seductive beauty of the Medusa (still fast asleep). Only after much effort is Perseus able to look away from the Medusa... The Medusa then wakes up; and a battle ensues between Perseus and the Medusa. Using the golden shield of Athena, Perseus is able to see the Medusa's reflection. And with Hermes' swift sword, Perseus cuts off the Medusa's head. (Settle down... I'm about to get to the Pegasus part!)
Medusa and Scorpio
Face it... it doesn't exactly take a rocket scientist to see a connection between the Medusa and Scorpionic energies... Wherever you find Scorpionic/Plutonian energies in the birth chart, you'll likely find the Medusa lurking in the shadows nearby... Intensity and betrayal are often a couple of the Medusa's favorite themes.
Tell the truth, Scorpio... turned anyone into stone with your dark, powerful Scorpionic gaze lately? That "stone cold glare" which informs the recipients that they might as well not exist on this (or any other) planet... Okay, okay. I know they probably did something deserving of "the dreaded look." But all those writhing, venomous snakes growing out of your head? Do something about that. Okay? Check in with a hair stylist!
Everyone has a Medusa to deal with! She's the inner-Medusa that each of us eventually has to face, battle, and ultimately reconcile with... But Scorpio is on a first name basis with the lady. However, the good news is you've become rather adept in recognizing the Medusa when she's rearing her ugly head through the people around you. So a personal "first name basis" with the lady comes in handy by keeping you alert to all the many Medusas who inevitably cross your path.
Pegasus?
But what about Pegasus? So where does Pegasus fit into all this? After Medusa's night of passion in the temple of Athena, she was "with child" by Poseidon. At the time of her death, the Medusa carried within her womb the hero Chrysaor and the winged steed Pegasus. So when the Medusa's head was severed at the neck, Chrysaor and Pegasus sprang out. Perseus, then, escaped the remaining Gorgon sisters by riding away on the back of Pegasus.
Think about it... The energies giving life to the Medusa were, in the end result, the very same energies which gave birth to the winged horse, Pegasus. Through the cutting off of her head, the Medusa was released from her curse and torment. Thus, learning lessons of mental detachment are often rather crucial in the continued growth and lives journeys of those strong in Scorpionic/Plutonic energies. (So "losing your head" can, in fact, be a good thing.)
In many ways, the Medusa symbolizes the curse of Scorpio and Pluto- however Pegasus is the final redemption and rebirth of Scorpio and Pluto set free! So Scorpio, the next time some gorgeous gal or guy walks up to you and asks, "What your sign?" Go ahead and tell them you were born under the sign of Pegasus.
Your birth Sun is the hero of your mythic journey through this lifetime. Let Your Light Shine!

Regardless of whether you're a male or female, the very first love of your life was your mother (or if mom was absent, then another mother figure in your environment). The Moon symbolizes the unconscious, instincts, and what you need to feel nurtured in your life.
With the Moon in Scorpio, you like to keep a close watch over your environment. You tend to be quite wary and suspicious of the hidden workings and motivations of others You may have been born at a time when your mother was experiencing a crisis in her life? Or your birth may have been somehow traumatic. As a very young child, you may have experienced your mother as being rather emotionally possessive, controlling, and intense in her relationship with you.
The Moon is the "place" where we go for comfort when scared.... and, as adults, we tend to unconsciously nurture ourselves in much the same way our mothers nurtured and cared for us when we were very young children. Therefore, as an adult, you have a strong need for emotional intensity, and you may often feel an overwhelming need for emotional drama in your life. With the Moon in Scorpio, feeling bad is often much better than feeling nothing at all. Under stress you might even resort to unconsciously acting and behaving in ways which will then create this needed emotional drama and intensity in your life.
For day to day relief of stress? Try taking a long, hot, soothing bath illumined only by moonlight. Better yet... if you’ve got the bucks, then buy a Jacuzzi to escape into. Other suggestions? Enter the inner-sanctum of your home (You do have an inner-sanctum in your home, don’t you?) and read a good "whodunit" murder mystery, the latest supernatural Dean Koontz thriller, or a book revealing hidden mysteries of the universe. Last, but certainly not least, get kinky with the mutually contenting adult in your life (preferably in that Jacuzzi you recently bought). Suggestions for a nice relaxing vacation? If you enjoy vacations involving a wee bit of physical activity, then I suggest calling up Carlsbad Caverns, in New Mexico and signing up for one of their cave spelunking tours. If you’re a wee bit more sedentary in your ways, then rent a cabin overlooking a lake (located out in the middle of nowhere) and enjoy the peace and solitude.

Sagittarius

"Far away in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see the beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead." - Louisa May Alcott, Sun in Sagittarius
Sagittarian energy - motivated by inspiration and aspiration! Spontaneity! Ready for encounter! Fire on the mountain! Fire energy can be warm, vital, vivacious, cheerful and loyal to whatever happens to hold its interest. Fire energy craves freedom and opportunity... yep, a steady stream of opportunity for new experiences. Fire energy can be assertive, competitive, ambitious and full of confidence looking toward the future. Fire energy learns best when actively engaging and grabbing hold of life.
Fire, especially in Sagittarius, loves adventure - but conversely has more than a wee bit of difficulty when dealing with everyday mundane life and routine. Sagittarius presses on to the future in pursuit of high ideals! In the weighty words of astrologer Stephen Arroyo: "Witness, for example the symbol of Sagittarius: the Centaur. This unique creature is still grounded on the earth with an animal body, but that does not stop him from using his human half to carefully aim his arrow at a specific goal on the distant horizon." With the Sun in Sagittarius, creativity is especially linked with aspirations and ideals. Sagittarian energy is buoyant storytelling energy. Ruled by the jubilant planet, Jupiter (Roman god of thunderbolts and lightning, and ruler of all the other gods) Sagittarian energy enjoys preaching a good sermon from a pulpit (ordained or not).
Mutable Fire
Sagittarius is what astrologers call a "mutable fire" sign. What in the heck is a mutable fire sign, you might rightly ask? Simply put, I like to call Sagittarius "the missed me, missed me, now you gotta kiss me" Zodiac sign. Okay... okay... I suppose I should back up and explain.
There are 3 different "modes" of reaction:
> 4 are Cardinal or active (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) - adapts to external demands
> 4 are Fixed or steadfast (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) - adapts to internal demands
> 4 are Mutable or flexible (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) - adapts back and forth to both external and internal demands
There are 4 different Elements:
> 3 are Fire (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) outgoing, action oriented, impulsive, and "fiery"
> 3 are Earth (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) physical, practical, sensual, and material
> 3 are Air (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) mental perceptions, thought, communication, and abstract ideas
> 3 are Water (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) sensitive, feeling, empathic, and healing
http://www.recom.org/modules/coppermine/albums/userpics/10770/sagittarius_data001.jpg
Chances are... The above mumbo jumbo about modes and elements means less than zero to you? So, to successfully combine the "modes" with the "elements," let's focus in for a second or two on the fire signs.
Imagine
Here's a practical example. Imagine there's someone standing in front of you. Now imagine, this person is holding a rock in their hand. Now imagine this person has just thrown the rock at you...
> A Cardinal (active) Fire reaction would be to throw a rock back at the jerk.
> A Fixed (steadfast) Fire reaction would be to stand there unaffected by the rock, and then taunt them with something like: "Hey, go ahead and hit me again! That didn't hurt at all, you little wuss!
> A Mutable (flexible) Fire reaction would be to cleverly dodge the rock, and then "thumb your nose" at their lousy aim.
Got it so far?
> Aries = Cardinal (Active) + Fire = "Here's a bigger rock for you, jerk!"
> Leo = Fixed (Steadfast) + Fire = "Hit me with your best shot, sucker! That didn't hurt!"
> Sagittarius = Mutable (Flexible) + Fire = "Missed me, missed me, now you gotta kiss me!"
Among natives fulfilling the energy of their Sun’s placement in Sagittarius: some of the key concepts are: broad-minded, optimistic, philosophical, need for change and variety, friendly, open spirited and exploratory. With the Sun in Sagittarius, this fiery, energetic attitude may have been the way you perceived the image of your own father (or another significant male figure) when you were very young and still in the earliest stages of childhood.
Your birth Sun is the hero of your mythic journey through this lifetime. Let Your Light Shine!
http://www.recom.org/modules/coppermine/albums/userpics/10770/blsagittarius2.pngMoon in Sagittarius

You have an emotional need for adventure and independence, and you may have an instinctual urge for travel and exploring. Under stress you will want to go on an "Indiana Jones" adventure and may feel the temptation to head out for "greener pastures." You feel rejuvenated when sharing experiences, adventures, and good times with your friends. You enjoy meeting new and interesting people.
If you're one of those rough and tumble people who enjoys the greater outdoors, then take up a leisurely hobby like rock climbing to gain a heightened sense of relaxation. If you happen to prefer indoor, mental activities and adventures - then enroll for a challenging class at your local institution of higher learning. One characteristic of the Moon in Sagittarius (I've always been somewhat envious of) is if someone offends and/or hurts you? You're fully capable tossing back your shiny hair and saying "Kiss my ___, I deserve better than this, and I don't need you or the hassle. I'm out of here" (and really mean it).
As for relaxing vacations? If you're the athletic type, go ahead and save up for that special, skiing vacation in the Swiss Alps. If that's not quite your style, then attend a learning seminar in that faraway, exotic locale you've always had swimming around in the back of your head.

Capricorn
http://www.recom.org/modules/coppermine/albums/userpics/10770/blcapricorn.pngSun in Capricorn
Capricorn, does it ever seem like you're constantly getting a "bum rap" in the Sun Sign descriptions? I once did a Sun Sign poll asking for the Zodiac sign considered to be the most "sexy" in the Zodiac. No big surprise, Scorpio came in first. And no huge surprise, Capricorn came in dead last. Obviously your Zodiac sign has a public relations problem of some sort? Are you tired of being a "scapegoat" yet? I only bring all this up, because we both know a little secret, don't we?
Your Capricorn Sun is located in the element of earth - and earth is a world of concrete reality, sensory perception, and roots built on physical sensations. The Sun in earth feels most comfortable when surrounded with the world of the five senses. Whatever cannot be touched, heard, smelled, seen, or tasted is either denied or made as concrete and tangible as possible... and the rock bottom line is that Capricorns can be very sensual, sexy, and "tuned in" to their bodies! Once upon a time, I was lucky enough to be madly in love with a lovely Capricorn lass (and she with me). So I speak with experience (and fond memories) when I say that Capricorn can be very sensual.
The Sun in earth is also a consciousness sold on physical security... sold on the here and the now... So, of course, your search for physical security can end up giving one the reputation of being a wee bit conservative and practical, can't it? One of Capricorn's mottos could be "Life is hard and full of setbacks, so you'd better prepare yourself for the worst of it." Or another motto attached to Capricorn might be "Whoever said life is fair?" And let's not forget: "It's time to get organized, damn it!"
Capricorn is best known for self-control, caution, and dependability. The sure-footed mountain goat energy of Capricorn makes its world more secure by building structures and form. The Capricorn goat works its way slowly, but surely to the top of the mountain. That may not sound too sexy or exciting to some folks, but I like the way you slowly, carefully work your way up the mountain.
Capricorn is ruled by the planet Saturn. In mythology, Saturn (known to the Greeks as Kronus) was the nasty, ruthless father of the 12 Olympian gods. Kronus heartlessly swallowed all his children whole because he'd heard a rumor that one of them would someday overthrow him (That would be Zeus...). As a Capricorn, it would be helpful for you to keep in mind the story of Kronus and remember not to swallow all your best creations out of fear.
In astrology, Saturn's lighter face is the archetypal energy of the "Wise Old Man" (and/or "Wise Old Woman") The "Wise Old Man" earned his wisdom and insight the hard way. The "Wise Old Man" gains wisdom through all the varied experiences and trials encountered through the living of a long life. As the "Wise Old Man" (and/or "Wise Old Woman") of the Zodiac, Capricorn helps you define yourself through what's called the process of limitation. (or maybe better said - the process of elimination). It's a hard, cold fact of life that we often best define "who we are" by first determining "who we are not...."
What really makes Capricorn energy happy is being able to shape (i.e. organize) the world around them for their own sense of comfort and safety. Capricorn is usually willing to work long and hard to reach its goals. Capricorn energy is persistent and willing to wait for just the right opportunity.
One more practical suggestion, if you don't mind? Not everyone, at all times, relishes and/or appreciates your "Wise Old Man" suggestions on how to get organized (even when we know you're right). When we share our problems, feelings, or emotions with you? It's normally not a signal to rev up your quite excellent problem solving skills. Most of the time, we were just wanting you to listen and sympathize a little. Here's something rather funny I recently read online that seems to apply: "Don't try teaching a pig how to dance. You'll only frustrate yourself and annoy the pig." I know it's frustrating, but keep in mind that sometimes we pigs enjoy wallowing around in all our mud.
Your birth Sun is the hero of your mythic journey through this lifetime. Let Your Light Shine!

With the Moon in Capricorn, you generally feel more emotionally secure when your day to day life is structured and/or when you are working hard. You may not feel valuable to others unless you're pulling more than your own weight? Because of all this, you may experience great difficulty in your ability to relax and "let go." You may also at times be emotionally distant or cold. All of this is primarily because, as a very young child, you may have experienced your mother as having been strict, authoritarian, and demanding perfect behavior. She may have also been emotionally cold and distant. Your mother's love may have been limited in some way, and she may have prone to depression. Or perhaps Mom was afraid that coddling you too much would spoil you? Was her favorite saying: "God helps those who help themselves." Or was it: "You've got to pull yourself up by your own bootstraps!" The Moon is the "place" where we go for comfort when scared.... and, as adults, we tend to unconsciously nurture ourselves in much the same way we subjectively experienced our mothers nurturing and caring for us when we were very young children. So, when under stress, you keep yourself emotionally safe and secure by drawing strict emotional boundaries and limitations between yourself and others. When feeling threatened by an unexpected crisis, you feel safer when taking over duty and responsibility and by quickly getting in control (and on top) of the situation.
With the Moon in the earthy sign of Capricorn? Physical closeness, touch, and affection are often the best ways your "significant other" can express (and reassure) you of their love. (i.e. A hug a day keeps the doctor away.) Likewise, your lover withholding simple everyday physical expressions of love and affection is an ironclad, guaranteed way to make you feel all alone and unloved. There will be other times (of your choosing) when your partner needs to allow you to emotionally and physically withdraw.
Looking for a hobby guaranteed to relax you? Build stuff. Build a tree house, build a model airplane, build a garden. Volunteering to teach someone a new practical skill (that will enable them to get ahead in life) might be just the ticket. Or if you're of the more adventurous outdoorsy type? Climbing mountains and/or going on long nature hikes might serve to lower your blood pressure.

Aquarius
http://www.recom.org/modules/coppermine/albums/userpics/10770/blaquarius.pngSun in Aquarius
"They are ill discoverers that think there is no land, when they can see nothing but sea." - Francis Bacon (1561-1626) English philosopher, lawyer and politician (Sun and Ascendant in Aquarius).
The Sun in the element of air... stimulated mentally, detached perspective... Motivated and recharged by intellectual concepts, social interchanges and the communication of ideas and/or ideals... The element of air (barring other factors) tends to produce a fairly active mind. The world is approached with reason and everything (everyone) is open to analysis.
Aquarius generates a friendly, people-oriented mental energy. Unconventional, friendly, unpredictable and innovative are all characteristics of Aquarius. You thrive on originality and may be a bit rebellious. You may even be considered a wee bit eccentric.
Aquarius values life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Aquarius values humanity and enjoys living in a world of detached intellect. And inventive Aquarian energy (at its best) is channeled through creative theoretical constructs which can be used for the purpose of bringing about the greater social good.
Prometheus/Epimetheus
In Greek mythology, the Titan brother gods Prometheus and Epimetheus correspond to the energy contained in Aquarius. Once upon a time... Zeus, the ruling god of Olympus, decided to give Prometheus (meaning foresight) and Epimetheus (meaning hindsight) the task of populating the earth.
Epimetheus (hindsight) immediately jumped in and created all sorts of interesting animals. The animals he created could run extremely fast, they had excellent endurance, and they were endowed with physical strength. All the animals could see, smell, and hear quite well. Due to his lack of foresight, Epimetheus lavished all the totally awesome gifts on the animals.
Prometheus, then, set about creating men. Prometheus created the forms of these men from out of the elements earth and water - and then Athena, goddess of wisdom, bestowed “soul” to the lifeless forms by bringing butterflies (psyche) to them. But when Prometheus finished shaping man, he discovered that Epimetheus had already handed out all the good gifts to the animals. There were very few good gifts left over to give to humans. Forever being inventive and resourceful, Prometheus decided this just wouldn't do! So he went before Zeus and asked if it would be okay if his mortals could have some of Zeus' sacred fire. However Zeus told Prometheus no, and further said that fire belonged to the gods alone. It seems Zeus thought that mortal men would become arrogant if they possessed the wonderful blessing of fire.
Being rebellious, Prometheus stole some fire from the hearth of Zeus and gave it to his mortals anyway. As a result of having the gift of fire, humanity no longer had to endure cold, bitter nights. And because the other animals feared the light of fire? They stopped attacking men.
As mentioned eariier, Prometheus literally means "foresight." And much to his credit, he also taught humanity mathematics, metalworking, architecture, and writing.

Regardless of whether you're a male or female, the very first love of your life was your mother (or if mom was absent, then another mother figure in your environment). The Moon symbolizes the unconscious, instincts, and what you need to feel nurtured in your life.
With the Moon in Aquarius, you tend to feel secure with intellect rather than emotions. You may be aloof from your emotions and/or distrust your emotions as being way too irrational and unpredictable. You may have viewed your mother as being rather emotionally detached and unpredictable. You may have seen your mother as being electric, unique, and different. The Moon is the "place" where we go for comfort when scared.... and we tend to unconsciously nurture ourselves in much the same way our mothers nurtured and cared for us when we were very young children. When under stress, you may feel the need for a quick change of your surroundings or you might feel the need to disrupt and stir things up a wee bit and get a little excitement going.
To help relieve day to day stress, I suggest joining a group of people with whom you can feel free to intellectualize and share your social, political, philosophical, and/or spiritual beliefs and dreams. Planning a vacation? If you're single (and/or otherwise unattached), you may be able to best relieve stress by taking off all alone on a journey and going to a place where you can "get away from it all (and everybody)." Regardless of where you decide to go or what you do while on vacation? You'll feel more comfortable and satisfied when knowing it's somewhere (or something) exciting, unique, and totally different.

Aquarius
http://www.recom.org/modules/coppermine/albums/userpics/10770/blaquarius.pngSun in Aquarius

Pisces
http://www.recom.org/modules/coppermine/albums/userpics/10770/blpisces.pngSun in Pisces
There's a famous quote by Sun Sign Pisces, Albert Einstein: "Imagination is more important than knowledge." The full quote goes on to say: "Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world." Reportedly, one of this famous Pisces' methods of getting in touch with his inner source of creativity was to imagine in his mind's eye - the numbers he was working with. He, then, allowed the numbers to "dance freely" within his imagination. (I don't know about you, but I figure I'm doing pretty good to manage a shaky two-step when I'm dealing with numbers.)
Pisces, at it's best and most fruitful, is about meeting and responding to the natural rhythms of life with an open, imaginative, expectant, and adaptable attitude. The Zodiacal sign of Pisces is about being receptive to whatever comes your way, and then synthesizing it into the source of a totally new, unique, and imaginative creation.
That description of Pisces sounds a wee bit "fishy" and downright "elusive" doesn't it - so here's a practical example of what that means... as a Pisces, you've discovered the hard way - whenever a great big 18 wheeler crisis comes barreling down the interstate of life at 100 miles an hour (and inevitably there is a crisis barreling your way, isn't there) - that the best way to respond to that 18 wheeler crisis is by remaining quiet within yourself and allowing yourself to "go with flow" of unfolding of events. When you do that - then, much of time, the 18 wheeler crisis resolves itself.
For most folks, this sort of giving up of control is more than a wee bit disconcerting. It's tough to remain calm with an 18 wheeler crisis headed your way. Most folks like to get in control by organizing, plotting out, and controlling a predictable course of events. But "going with the flow" often works out just fine for you. When "going with the flow" in answer to a crisis - you've discovered that all of the questions you needed answered are "miraculously" answered in the "nick of time." All the doors you needed opened are "unexpectedly" opened. Questions are answered and/or doors are are "miraculously" and "unexpectedly" opened with little or no "conscious" effort on your part. Likewise, you've discovered that if you interfere by trying to take control matters when facing a crisis situation - then all the right answers mysteriously vanish and all the open doors slam shut on your toes.
Typical descriptions of the Sun in Pisces are that you are an imaginative, sensitive, and serene individual. You feel the need to express and bring life to your fantasies, imagination and creativity. As a result, you may tend be a dreamer and a wee bit ungrounded in regard to the practicalities of everyday life. And according to traditional astrology readings, some of the basic characteristics you should seek to consciously develop in your life are: Your sense of compassion, your sensitivity, the ability for self-sacrifice, and your sense of intuition.
But now that I've said all this... the real truth is that there is NO typical description of a Sun in Pisces. Sometimes I wish like heck I could pin you down, but it's impossible. You're like the mythological Greek sea god Proteus, notorious for being a shape shifter. And whenever someone attempts to catch you in their net, you simply change shapes and swim away. The older and more mature you become, Pisces - the more clearly you will be able to see and thus take advantage of your fluid shape shifting qualities and abilities.
The magician like shape shifting qualities of Pisces inevitably become your strongest bulwark and defense for survival in the world. This is especially going to be the case for males having the Sun in Pisces. The problem is, you see... the Zodiacal sign of Pisces asks us to give up the sense of needing absolute, complete control over our life course, journey, and destiny. But the sad fact is that we live in a "macho, dog eat dog world." It can often be a mean, nasty world where "big boys don't cry." It's a common sense world where you're only supposed to believe in and count on what you can see, hear, smell, touch, and taste. Society doesn’t normally give positive strokes to those folks who exemplify and exhibit the gentle, caring, empathetic, imaginal, flowing, and sensitive energy of Pisces. This lack of social reinforcement holds especially true for males having the Sun in Pisces. As a Pisces, you often end up feeling like stranger in a strange land. With many slightly older, more experienced male Pisces (and some female Pisces), most of the world will never get a glimpse of the serene, sensitive, go with the flow, oceanic creature that lies just beneath the surface of whatever other Zodiacal sign the Pisces is hiding behind.
Since you're one of my personal favorite Sun Signs, I'll finish this section off with a little story which relates to the energies of Pisces. A young, handsome man is out fishing one day and catches something rather unusual in his net. The youth catches a beautiful mermaid, also known as a melusine. The youth and mermaid immediately fall in love with one another. There's one major hitch, though. The two lovers are from very different worlds and it's obvious the young man can't join the world of the mermaid. So, she makes the ultimate sacrifice - so that the two of them can be together. The mermaid offers to join the world of the young man by taking on the form of a mortal woman. But in exchange for this sacrifice, the mermaid requires one small promise from the young man. He must promise never to ask her to reveal her true name. (The promise he must make actually varies from version to version, but the idea is not to pry into a secret held only by the mermaid.)
The young man readily agrees to this condition and makes the promise to her. So the years pass by with the lovers living in their very own version of blissful, joyous paradise. But as time goes by, the young man becomes ever so much more curious about the mermaid - wanting to know where she came from, who she is and what her true name is. The young man thinks to himself that surely enough time has passed and the beautiful mermaid won't mind telling him who she is and what her true name is.
So one day, the young man gathers up his nerve and asks the beautiful mermaid what her true name is? The mermaid shrieks in horror that the young man has broken his promise and she instantly disappears. So you see, Pisces... even if I managed to catch a brief glimpse of your pure essence, you'd simply disappear.

The Moon is the "place" where we go for comfort when scared.... and we tend to unconsciously nurture ourselves in much the same way our mothers nurtured and cared for us when we were very young children.
With the Moon in Pisces, you feel and experience your own emotions deeply. You also tend to empathize rather deeply with and intuitively (sometimes almost psychically) "pick up on" the emotions of the people around you. As a very young child you may have pictured your mother as a caring, sensitive individual who experienced difficulty in setting her own emotional boundaries with other people. As an adult, you may feel a continuing strong empathy with your mother (or other alternative mother figure), and it would therefore be helpful to your own emotional growth and sense of emotional stability if you learn how to form your own emotional boundaries.
Under stress? During those times when you're an emotional "shape-shifter, " you may feel an instinctual urge to blend in with and disappear into your environment by reflecting back the behavior of your environment. This is called emotional camouflage. You figure if you manage to blend in well enough, then they can't see you anymore. Remember when you were a kid and Mom asked you: "Would you jump off a cliff just because everyone did?" Because of your tendency toward a lack of clear emotional boundaries, you may at times feel the strong need to withdraw and seek out seclusion. Other times, you will feel the safest when with a close, trusted friend with whom to two of you can mutually share your deepest emotions, fantasies, and dreams. Warning! You have a wee bit of a strong tendency to draw in and attract emotionally lost people who need (and/or use and abuse) your extraordinary sense of emotional understanding, care, and empathy. Please remember, you can't save the entire world.
Tips for relieving day to day stress? Meditation, listening to relaxing music, escaping into a nice, warm bubble bathtub for an hour or so, volunteering at the local homeless shelter, aligning oneself with the cosmos, joining an encounter group or a spiritual book reading club. Dream vacation? Where else? Escape to the ocean for a little deep sea fishing and/or scuba diving. Or maybe, just hang out at the beach. If you're a Pisces Moon with spiritual inclinations, then you might prefer signing up for a tour group traveling through India and hosted by a really cool, spiritual swami.

Libra
http://www.recom.org/modules/coppermine/albums/userpics/10770/bllibra.pngSun in Libra
The Sun in the element of air... stimulated mentally, detached perspective.... Motivated and recharged by intellectual concepts, social interchanges and the communication of ideas and/or ideals. The element of air (barring other factors) tends to produce a fairly active mind. With the Sun in Libra, the world is approached with reason, balance, and a sense of fairness. Everything (everyone) is open to analysis. Even-handed, harmonious, artistic, diplomatic, balancing, and strong sense of aesthetic beauty are characteristics typically associated with Libra.
Ruled by the planet Venus and symbolized by the Scales of Justice, Libra is concerned with making choices, evaluations, weighing all the evidence, and maintaining balance. Libra can see all the many sides of an argument or issue. And in the interest of fair play, Libra really doesn’t like making a final decision until every last bit of the data and documentation has at last been sent in and accounted for. Unfortunately, Libra knows that there’s always one more bit of information which could be gathered, if only enough time is given...
Barring other factors in your chart, Libra is quite social and sensitive to what’s going on around them. Libra’s sense of inner-harmony is closely related to (and affected by) what’s going on around them. Disharmony, arguments, and disputes going on in Libra's immediate environment disturbs their sense of inner-harmony and equilibrium. So for Libra’s own sense of harmony, they often end up acting as peacemakers in their environment.
Social interaction with other people is vital to Libran energy. Other people act as reflective mirrors through which Libran energy can learn more about their own ideas and thoughts. Libra generally discovers clarification regarding what they think about a particular matter or situation only after their first hearing what other people think and have to say on the matter.
Here's a story just for you, Libra... It's the story of a young Trojan Prince by the name of Paris. And the story is called "The Judgment of Paris." "The Judgment of Paris" is about making choices and accepting the consequences of choices made... In our story, Paris had to choose between three different goddesses.
The First Miss Universe Pageant
These three Olympian goddesses were embroiled in a dispute as to which one of them was the most beautiful. They brought the dispute before Zeus (the chief Olympian god), but in his vast wisdom Zeus bowed out. Zeus wisely determined that the mortal man Paris - being a young, macho, virile stud - (not unlike myself) should judge which of the three goddesses was the most beautiful.
The three goddesses were accompanied by the messenger god, Hermes, who explained the entire situation to the mortal Paris. Paris first tried squirming his way out of this fix by saying that all the goddesses were equally beautiful and it was surely impossible to make a such a decision. Unfortunately for Paris, splitting the prize was not an option that the three goddesses were willing to accept. However, each of goddesses swore not to hold a grudge if another was selected as the most beautiful (being young and naive, Paris actually believed them).
The first goddess to offer Paris gifts was Hera... (Hera was the wife of Zeus - and now you know why Zeus had wisely decided to bow out....) Hera offered Paris power, wealth and prestige. Next up was the warrior goddess Athena... She offered Paris wisdom and bravery in battle. Finally, it the was seductive Aphrodite's turn... and Aphrodite offered Paris the gift of love, beauty, desire, and passion...
Three Guesses?
Okay, I'll give you three guesses which one of the three goddesses Paris chose that day as being the most beautiful (and the first two guesses don't count)... Mighty Aphrodite (and her gift of love, beauty, desire and passion) was of course the clear choice for our young hero, Paris.
The Consequences...
Hera and Athena turned away with heavy frowns visibly showing on their faces - and both goddesses were, from that moment on, enemies to all of the Trojan race (seems they'd already forgotten their promise not to hold a grudge).
Making an already very long story short - Paris (already married) later met Helen of Troy ("the face that launched a thousand ships"), and they fell madly in love with one another. Therefore, Aphrodite made good her promise to Paris with the beautiful (but also already married) Helen. Unfortunately, the choice Paris made (and the resulting passionate love match) then led directly to the bloody, tragic Trojan Wars. The Trojan Wars lasted fourteen years, thousands died, and the entire Trojan civilization was destroyed.
Choices... With the Sun in Libra, you know only too well how important it is to weigh all the options - because you know that every choice made has a consequence.

With the Moon in Libra, You have a need for harmony and peaceful surroundings, and you will often seek out peace when under stress. You may have seen your mother as being social and harmonious. She was someone the other kids in the neighborhood liked to be around and they all thought of her as being a "cool Mom." The Moon is the "place" where we go for comfort when scared.... and we tend to unconsciously nurture ourselves in much the same way our mothers nurtured and cared for us when we were very young children. When under stress you may seek to beautify your surroundings or get a "make-over."
Other tips for relief of day to day stress? Do something that appeals to your aesthetic sense of beauty. Paint a beautiful picture or write a beautiful song. Another surefire method of relieving stress is to visit an art gallery or museum with a friend. Dream vacation? Just about anywhere as long as you have a traveling companion to enjoy and share it with.

Different from the animal based Chinese Astrology, which most of the Western culture is familiar with, Purple King was somehow never introduced into this part of the world. Yet, most of the Chinese has been consulting Purple King astrologers, since 617 AD, for almost 14 centuries.
The basics of the MingPan - Birth Chart. A brief explanation of the basic MingPan, or chart the 29 Level One stars, as well as the way to interpret the stars in its respective houses. Please remember, Purple King is so different from western astrology. Comparing each other would only confuse you.
Purple King astrologer parallels your life with that of a king. A true king has the support from his prime ministers, the advice from his consul, the devotion of his knights, the dedication of his executioners, and the protection of his guards, etc. If you were born under the stars with this exact formation, then you must live like a king.
Since there are 99 stars in Purple King astrology, each mapped differently. Our chance to be born exactly under this star setting is really quite small. Therefore, people born under the influence of the Knight, the Raider, or the Executioner have a good chance to succeed in sports. (i.e. Muhammad Ali, Arthur Ashe, Rocky Marciano, Joe Louis, OJ Simpson.) People, who have Composer, Secretary in their Colleague, are dexterous and creative. (i.e. Liberachi, Henry Mancini, Bob Dylon) Ronald Reagan and Bob Hope both have the Entertainer in either their Main House or the Opposing House. The reasons are obvious.
Purple King was originally called "Purple Glow North Star Numerology" (Tzu-Wei-Dou-Su) in Chinese. Purple Glow Emperor Star is the Chinese name also for the Polaris, the Northstar.
