Many ReComers who are in US have a Facebook account, and rapidly many others elsewhere have a Facebook account too.

It was a site developed since early 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg, and it is poised for a takeover by Yahoo! or other companies. It is a site similar to friendster, except that it has much more personal information of college graduates, high school students, as well as employees of major multinational companies.

Yahoo! has offered USD1 billion for the company. What is ReComers opinion on this? Facebook has been hitting the headlines quite often lately, especially on many of the changes in the site, where others get to see what changes you make with your account, like adding a friend etc. Is that privacy infringement? Is the privacy control in place now sufficient?

Any thoughts on facebook?

On the Yahoo! offer, you can just google it, or read it at this News (http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=4281)

Opening Facebook to everyone will kill it's own uniqueness though...
Facebook will have have to compete with MySpace, Friendster, Multiply and others. If they have really decided to open the registration, then they will need money and promotion from Yahoo.

Facebook is getting worse.

I abhorred MiniFeed and NewsFeed. TMI.

And now they've opened it up to everyone...

Jiinjoo, would you mind lead this initiative of building our ReCom facebook? It is a very noble idea, but I am not sure whether we have the ability and more importantly time to build on our own facebook.

As of now, we have created a facebook group for ReCom. Do check it out. The link is at here (http://cornell.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2210697531)
