Yeah, I know that those are to depict how active one in forum, but if you don't mind, let people, especially people like me, who don't know much about computer to know....

I have done a google search on it and that's what I have found..

What is the HP/MP/EXP/Level System?

Simply put, it's a more elegant way of showing how active a member is in the community. As someone posts more, their Exp rises. Eventually, the Exp bar get's "maxed out" and you "level up". For example if you were previously a Level 10, you'll now be a Level 11, and the Exp bar will be reset.

The HP bar is an indicator of how often someone posts on the forums. Generally, if you post (on average) five posts each day, your HP bar will be full. If you only post two messages in a day, it will be only 2/5 full, and so on.

MP is an indicator of how long someone has been a member of the forum and how active they are in the community.


Sorry to those who played games, i must have been seen as a computer illeterate.... but hope above would help others in the same category as me.

mmm mp3 huh? it is very very very true that giving away mp3s for download attracts lots of ppl ... i exp it myself from my own homepage .. b4 i hardly get any hit a week ... now since i post anime mp3s on my homepage ppl come like insects ... i can easily get 500 hits perweek!! ... my homepage is nothing like a forum or a community but ppl do come .. only for the mp3s ... *sigh* ...

yeah, we realize the "power of anime". (as you probably know, anime fans ;-)

But, I don't we need another website that serve the same purpose.

I think our focus would be forums, intellectual discussion, knowledge sharing.

To prevent us for being labelled as "a buch of nerds", we'll create a creative corner soon
(thanks to silverblue for the brilliant idea)

Plus you can play PacMan and other games, or SMSing or use ReCom chat server ( if you really want to disprove the theory that all ReCom Members are nerds).

Or write one game and share with us. That's even better!

aiseh did i sound like i was agreeing with the mp3 thingy? aiseh i didn't realize that ... no no .. i was trying to say that the mp3 idea is bad .. ppl will come just for the files and not participating in discussions or stuff .. heh my bad my bad ... anyway, creative corner? sounds like fun ... so will it become a new site section or just a subforum? i can write a poem or two ... mmm i think i still have the cerpens i wrote for my school magazine .. oghait, count me in then ... :)

I am not sure should I voice out or not ... or rather am I qualified to voice ... heehee...

First of all, what is our main intention driving this page. Like Schye said, we need active members, we don't want to ppl to max-hit our page just for the sake of mp3 or some other fancy stuff.

Maybe we can try to promote our page to schools, colleges, Us, especially those overseas universities, which have a lot of Malaysia students. I can understand that, when they study there and meanwhile there is a site able to update them all the info about their country, a bunch of ppl speaking the same bahasa pasar with them, how sweet it is ... :wink:

Besides, if they can be active in our site, they surf frequently, they may give us more extra inputs if we are driving certain events.

With this approach, we will have a lot of active members, useful informations without asking for personal benefit such as mp3, wallpapers, pictures, movie clips and stuff like that.

Sorry if my suggestions offended anyone of you ... :oops:

i think we should start promoting to high school students. I think that our experiences in uni and more will be helpful to them. Also, it will encourage them to start thinking critically and to be involved in something that's benificial to them and to the country

royston, thanks a lot for your input..certainly, i fully agree with you...and definitely everyone of recom members are qualified to share your opinion......Your opinions are very good, really....no jokking...in fact, all of us students have a lot to learn from you guys, especially those who are in working world.. royston, you are definitely not offending anyone..all of us here are willing to provide opinions, constructive criticisms, rebuttals...we don't want everyone just to say yes or no, but tell everyone why...and royston, you have been doing that perfectly...thanks for your support...

to everyone, don't feel shy about posting your opinions...every opinion is welcomed... As a chinese saying goes "san1 ren2 xing2 bi4 you3 wo3 shi1 yan1", when 3 people are walking, we would definitely find a teacher..and i believe that even when 2 people are together, we definitely have something to learn from the other person...With about 450 recom members currently, we could pool our resources together and do a lot of great stuff...thanks for the support!!!

Yeah, i agree with u guys about the mp3 issue....there are many other websites that serve that purpose, but very few or almost none that serves the same purpose as us..We have been actively promoting our page to colleges and universities all over the world, and as there is a limit on how much we could do, I would urge everyone to help us spread the words around...yeah, precisely what royston and littlebigone wrote are very very relevant...So guys, lets reach out!!!! And yeah, promoting it to high school students would be a great idea too...

And to those who wish to help spread the words around, we have weblinks of about 70 Malaysian students association worldwide in our weblinks, so if you could spread the words to them, that would be great!!!

chen chow: u still have connections with UiTM rite? HOw bout letting someone there know about this site. The students can join us in our discussions and also ask for help with stuff lik life overseas, etc

littlebigone, in fact, not really...i don't know anyone of the present batch, but may be dharman100 could have known someone, and i think yi zheng should know at least a few of those batch...

i've posted bout recom in my friendster bulletin boards, so hope that someone will come n hv a look at our comm here.

I can ask my dad to promote this thing in ITM. He's teaching mech. engine there, and he's quite supportive of this kinda ideas. I'll let him know. Oh yeah, he's a big comp expert...hmm... 8O
