Who the hell watches oscars and gives a crap about oscars anyways? Unless your in the business.
The way the academy nominate and select winners is stupid and the prestige that comes from this award is over rated. They're a lot og great movies and great talent that the academy doesn't care about. I think academy had been bought out, in terms of who's going to be the winner, etc.

Just my two cents - Lost in Translation is peculiar in that its absolutely strange ordinariness, it works. While my friend and I came away from the movie wondering what the heck it was that it did for us, it was just that: absolutely nothing.
And that, is something interesting. For a movie to generate such acclaim I would think is less an indication of what we as audiences would think, but more of the Academy voters. If I'm not mistaken, the Oscars are not a 'People's Choice' awards. They are peer awards. Can someone clear this up for me?

seriously dude, lord of the rings will be one of the movies of all time. For god's sake, it won 11 oscars - as many as what Ben Hur about more than half a century ago!

i'm excited that LOTR won most if not all of their nominations... but i was disappointed that the results were too predictable i.e. the contenders weren't too strong.
cheers!

i'm so glad renee zellweger won! she won at the golden globes and now she wins again! but sigh...it's rather boring seeing the same faces on the stage again (Sean Penn and Charlize Theron won at the Golden Globes too)...only this time in differrent dresses and hairdos.
Neway, cheers for all LOTR fans!
