As have been discussed in the Forum on General Elections,

_earth has suggested "recom should on start a new project about Malaysia - all about malaysia on the net! collect all relevant details and put it on one page!"

JiinJoo has helped to collect the following information:-

Yeap - step one is definitely a big scale copy and paste from the richmond website

Here's a set of links to start of with, if anyone is going to do it:

Abdullah Badawi's first 100 days (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/3466273.stm)
Since the theme of the workshop is about Post-Mahathir era, let's read about the first 100 days of the new administration by BBC.

History of Malaysia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Malaysia)
By Wikipedia, a free encyclopedia.

Brief Facts on Malaysia (http://www.atlapedia.com/online/countries/malaysia.htm)
Lots of figures, some more recent history between WWII to 1993.

PBS's overview of Malaysia (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/commandingheights/lo/countries/my/my_overview.html)
History by era, highlights of important events over the past century.

NEP (New Economic Policy) (http://www.time.com/time/asia/2003/mahathir/mahathir900820.html)
Time article, written 10 years ago. Along with more links to related articles.

International Religious Freedom Report 2003 - Malaysia (http://www.state.gov/g/drl/rls/irf/2003/23838.htm)
Released by the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor, U.S. Dept of State

AllMalaysia.info (http://www.allmalaysia.info/)
Everything else
______

So, lets start the ball rolling...

Collect all the info and pasted it here!

And hopefully more idea will come up on how to work on this project~!

Cool. ! let;s get started.

This project would definitely helpful for a lot of people, including researchers, professors, or even potential investors.

Often times, these people need comprehensive facts about a particular location. For example, if an investor trying to open a business center, they need the demographics, income level, competitiors, etc.
Thus, if we can put all the relevant information in one place, it would help a lot. I'm sure one day, we may perhaps need these data ourselves for whatever purposes.

Thus, we're looking for whoever interested in becoming the head of project..

the job is simple, just google with bunch of keywords, and post the relevant data here.
That would be our First Step.

Thanks.

I agree that our first step would be to find as much as possible of relevant information and then we can work on to organize them, into nice and easily navigable interface!

Lets work hard together!!!

Virtual Malaysia (http://virtualmalaysia.com/)

Kiat.Net (http://www.kiat.net/malaysia/index.html)

Petronas Twin Tower (http://www.klcc.com.my/Showcase/PTT/ps_ptt_overview.htm)

Multimedia Super Corridor (http://www.msc.com.my/)

Tourism Malaysia (http://www.tourism.gov.my/)

Geographia.com about Malaysia (http://www.geographia.com/malaysia/)

And we have links to all public and private universities in our weblinks ready, as well as links to about 130 MSDs and Malaysian Student Assocs around the world.

Keep up the good work!

we should promote bahasa melayu too. many u.s. universities offer courses in indonesian but not malay. not many people know that bahasa indonesia is in fact a version of malay.

wikipedia has a page in malay:
http://ms.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laman_Utama

it also has a pretty good introduction to the language:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malay_language

We have links of all universities in Malaysia, all ministries in Malaysia, about 130 Malaysian Students Associations worldwide.

This is as far as we have gotten.

So, really hope to get everyone's help to post information here and we can think of a way to revive this project!

i think we shoul open one new thread where all user can post some useful links

i think for some user they are not used to submit weblinks in weblinks section so I think we should have a thread where we can gather links...

chenchow

I think the link submission is pretty alright, we have about 100-200 links submitted through there. I check it very often. Thanks to those submitted.

For those who want to submit links on anything about Malaysia, basically for this ReCoPedia project, you can just post it here!

question:

but what do we do with all the links and all the info after that? put up a web page? with all that loads of info?

i say we start a wiki for recopedia. it's going to be like wikipedia... but it's more focused on malaysia.

yeh?

I think we need to think what we want to do first and foremost.

Any thoughts?

This is because if we are doing something very similar to allmalaysia.info , then we are just replicating and it does not bring any benefit.

So, anyone thinks anything about Malaysia is seriously missing on WWW and ReCom can help to fill in the gap?

iQing

I think this is what people can contribute....

besides the links in e Learning
we should allow members to display pages of useful knowledge like how to build roket etc such stuff...
kinda make ReCom like source of knowledge...

it?s very dull if E Learning is just a bunch of links to unknown uni
right?
