Basically, this is to discuss what happens after studying in uni.
To start off;
What sort of job do you do after uni?
For JPA/bnm/asean, where do they bond you to?
How long?
Do they give you less salary?
Do they train you well?
Future prospects ok?
To past scholars; please give ur testimonies
I think it might be worth it to spend the extra money if the bond is too long. (I'm actually deciding between keeping asean and going for jpa.)

Is your ASEAN scholarship a full scholarship or a partial one?
Also, why wouldn't you want to apply for JPA? After you get it (or you might not), only then you decide which to take. Only then will you know how long your bond is. Why decide so early when you have not even applied for JPA or receive the offer letter?

As a JPA scholar, you are to be bonded to JPA for 6 years after your studies with the exception of Doctors which will be bonded 10 years. If you chose to break your bond, you will be required to pay the full amount of money spent on you in one lump sum.
As for the salary, it can always be negotiated with the company that you will be working with. Government servants have their salaries tied to a fixed system of bureaucrats.
Training will depend on whether you want to help yourself or not.
Future prospects: check on the prospects of the course that you are interested in. I can't say much about it without more info...

But a breach of contract in the Asean Scholarship will cost you RM9000 and so I heard it from a girl who dropped it and go for jpa.

But a breach of contract in the Asean Scholarship will cost you RM9000 and so I heard it from a girl who dropped it and go for jpa.there are some of my friends who took up Asean and then came for JPA later on... i think there might be a grace period when you can cancel yor scholarship with ASEAN... think of it as a trial period... ASEAN scholars can confirm this?

No such grace periods anymore as far as I know. It used to be the first 3 months and you are able to cancecl the scholarship as late as March without paying anything as March is the month where your Asean Scholarship is confirmed.
I have friends who went back after 1 month and 3 months. Both have to pay.
