Biomedical Engineering popular in UM?
Oh yes, for UTM, the main campus is in Johor and another in Serdang?
Where do Biomedical Engineering students go?

Frankly, i got few frens taking degree of biomed in UM currently
you must dunno what is the future of biomed...haha!
The syllbus of biomed in 1st and 2nd year is almost the same with medical student...but the fact is the status is different...
Just not worth it...better chose pharmacy...
only personal opinion!No offence~

Frankly, you have mistaken the trees for the forest. A medical student is studying to be almost exclusively a medical practitioner. A biomed student is doing science. The former is the application of technologies and discoveries perfected by the latter. Since they obviously deal with the human body, you would expect them to be similar at the foundations. I don't get what you are driving at here. A biomed degree typically lasts not more than 3 years, while medicine takes up to 5 years or more. Not to mention the gulf in tuition fees. What you do after you graduate from both degrees are completely different.
I do biomed in Melbourne Uni (the other um, heh). The syllables is rather the same with the medicine people here too, for the first two years. But then, come third year, it veers off. You have subject specialization, and if you do honours, the science bit is really emphasized. You get your own research project, and you write your own paper.
So what are you in for? Medicine or research? Deliverer of cures or discoverer of cures? Or are you (as carrie_nice9 seems to advocate) doing uni more for the prestige than the actual aims of the course?

What status are you talking about?
You mean a med/dent/pharm student would be more highly regarded than a biomed student?
Frankly, I've never thought about that and I think it's of little significance to me.
I applied for biomedical engineering because that's where my interest lies. :D
My brother told me after I graduate I'll be a 'glorified lab assistant'.
Found that funny though. :P
Oh, thanks for the advice carrie_nice9. At least I know what I'll be getting myself into. :)
