Like Vseehua said, you should go to the SIG and take a look at all the threads concerning medicine and look at all the previous deliberations on medicine and where it is better. If you do not know what a SIG is, scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will see a list of Special Interest Groups. Go to the link saying, 'every little thing about medicine'.

I will not be so cruel to you as not to answer your question. I have been a newbie myself. I am a JPA scholar doing medicine in University of Western Australia. I will try my best to answer your question.

When considering where to do medicine, the most important thing you must take into account is money. Studying medicine is definitely an expensive thing.

1st scenario. Money is an object for you. Your family does not have tons of cash stored in the bank, ready to be used. I think you have a few options. Number one, you can study locally. Go to public uni thru matrix. Work your ass off in matrix and get yourself into one of the public unis. If you can't do that, do not despair. Now you have the option of russia or the czech republic. Ukrainian universities are no longer recognised so forget about them. I don't know in specific detail as how studying in Russia is, but there are a lot of recommers who are in Russia and would love to help you on that. Another reason why you should go to the Medicine SIG. Next one the price scale is studying in local private unis. Cheapest would be AIMST in Sungai Petani. They are moving to a new campus and have a good training hospital. Next, if you like name brands, go for IMU. It is a good place to study with a lot of kiasu students pushing you and themselves to work harder. You can also try for Monash university. Another quite expensive name brand option.

2nd scenario, money is not an object for you. Your family is willing to pay watever it takes for your education. Cheapest among the expensive is Manipal twinning. This is a great uni and India often provides the BEST hands on experience in the world. Students from Australia are now going to India to get their surgery skills perfected. Next is PMC twinning. You get a 'branded' education from Ireland, which is quite good. Another place I can't do justice. Again visit SIG for more details. Next is IMU twinning. You get to choose which twinning you want to go to, but there are stringent selection criteria.

3rd and final scenario. You are royalty or heir of the Genting empire or something like that. Money is something you never bothered to think about. Cheapest of the 'big boys' is Australia. That will set you back about 1million ringgit for the 6 years of education here. One BIG problem is getting in. Australia has one of the world's strictest entrance systems for medicine. Do not expect to get in on mediocre marks. No matter how much you are willing to pay, your seat is not guaranteed. The most expensive is studying UK medicine. Getting into UK unis are much easier. Of course, getting into Oxbridge is shit hard but getting into B-List unis are pretty easy. One major problrm is moola. (Money) It will set your parents back about 1.2 to 1.3 million ringgit. But you get a pretty good education.

One thing about deciding where to do medicine, is never trust the agents. They will tell you exactly what you want to hear which may not be true. Once you have committed to something you cannot pull out. So, use Recom, the SIG specifically to get real info about unis from real students who are actually studying there. And don't bother with rankings. Studying medicine or any other course finally comes down to YOU. You decide how good a doctor you are going to be. jay3349, i totally disagree with your comment that it's easier to get into UK universities for medicine. It's total rubbish, i would say. Only certain medical schools in Australia are considered ''good'', namely Melbourne and the ANU which are in par with oxbridge. I don't reckon Universities like Tasmania would be better than your so called ''B-List'' Universities. That's a total insult, and please do watch your words before posting next time.

I'm referring your ''B-List'' Universities to Bristol, for example. If i've misinterpreted any of your ideas, do give me a knock on my head.

If you want to work at local hospital, then local uni and private college will be better and more cost effective. If you want to serve abroad, then you can go anywhere u like. The reason is because only local training system knows well what do local hospital need from a DR. it would be very sad when u come back from so called "Good" oversea medical college but u realized that u just can't adapt with local working environment and being scrutinized by MO/Specialist as you know nothing/few regarding practical procedure, and tagged ' Incompetence', eg. delivery of a baby, applying Plaster of Paris, proper physical examination technique, adequate operation assisting skills and experience.
Think twice before go oversea, u may not earn back the tuition fee in future 10 years if you work in M'sia.
