Astrology is the oldest known, continually existing science on the planet. It dates back further in history than any other science. It is found in all civilizations—both ancient and modern, primitive as well as sophisticated—and in all places on the planet.*1 In addition to such dramatic structures as the Great Pyramid and Stonehenge, we find most of the historic evidence of astrology supporting our heritage contained within written astrological texts dating back to ancient civilizations. Even a partial account of these written contributions produces a lengthy and cumbersome list of astrological writings. It would include ancient Indian texts dating to 3500 B.C., Mesopotamian clay tablets as far back as 2000 B.C., even the recently discovered Sumerian civilization from 4000 B.C. maintained accurate recordings of astrological predictions and methods of calculating exact positions of the planets. In 1200 B.C. the Babylonian civilization in its own right bestowed godly powers to each of the known planets and produced personal forecasts according to birth month. The noted astrological writings of the Chadian civilization around 700 B.C. added additional writings to humanity’s voluminous collection of astrological insights. Throughout the history of ancient Europe, China, and Egypt the flow of astrological writing continued. Even Greece developed a unique system of astrological diagnosis as well as predictive techniques based on the exact moment of birth. And, of course, there’s Egypt. Dating back perhaps 12,000 years, in addition to utilizing the planets as we do today, Egyptians developed galactic astrology (the use of fixed stars such as Sirius).

Throughout all recorded history, there has always been astrology. These ancient records are our modern heritage of the oldest science known to humankind.

Physicist Hawking debunks astrology and Einstein

British physicist Stephen Hawking has been debunking astrology and some of Albert Einstein's theories in a lecture in the capital of India.

Most Hindus consult star charts and astrological signs for decisions on marriage and other matters but Professor Hawking said the practice is not compatible with science.

Delivering a lecture in New Delhi, Prof Hawking said Einstein had been confused about quantum theory and wrong about the existence of black holes.

In his Albert Einstein Memorial Lecture for the Centre for Philosophy and Foundation of Science, the scientist added that some theories about the ability to predict the position and velocity of particles in space or time may be no better than astrology.

He said: "When it was discovered that the Earth was not the centre of the universe, astrology became impossible.

"The reason most scientists don't believe in astrology is because it is not consistent with our theories that have been tested by experiment."

At the end of the lecture, Hawking was given a standing ovation and presented with a Hindi language translation of his blockbuster physics book, "A Brief History of Time."

At last, a famous science figure steps fore to debunk astrology. Shouldn't it be obvious already that astrology doesn't work?

Any comments from those who believe astrology?

while sciends, particularly astronomy now does not believe in astrological elements now, it must be remembered that astrology by itself had spurred human civilizations a long long way...

how did the navigators navigate the sea in the early days, when there are no gps systems?

how did the ancients build the giant strutures, perfectly alligned to the stars in the early days.

due to the belief that astrological influence of the stars and planets and the sun on life on earth, people in the early days had deviced a lot of ways to accurately predict the stars. All these developments are spurred by astrology. The intellectuals of the ancient times are usually priests of the kings, which are tasked with pleasing their gods and interpreting the signs. For that, they had to keep a lot of records on events.

it is from the analysis of these records that the early civilization had deviced the most accurate sun calendar ever created (the mayans), the use of stars as indicators of incoming seasons (the star sirius used by the egyptians as the sign of the annual flood), giant structures with highly accurate alignment (egyptian pyramids with their north south orientation) and lots more inventions and uses for the stars...

as far as i can see, astrology is a sceince onto itself, as it is proven within the uncertainty principle that any small actions can affect anything else...so i can't deny that the stars out there may have influence onto our daily lives...

hence it's not plausible for us to debunk astrology in it's whole just because it didn't fit into science today...
