Gadjah Mada Uni Entrance Exam results are out.. Anyone got it?
Now for a hypotetical question: If you had to choose.. Would you go to a doctor who's from Indonesia or from a private medical college in Malaysia? Assume that the doctors are both Malaysians and that you have no previous experiences with either of them...

I will choose the Malaysian one. Indonesia in most people's opinion is a "not-so-good" country. No offence here. Its due to their tumultous past and weak economy.
I think malaysia's one will be better compared to indonesia...coz of indonesia's status

but gadjah mada is really one of indon's elite unis. if ppl can just look past the characteristics of the country but see what the uni and what lvl of education it provides, it'd be a much more objective evaluation rather than "gadja mada must be bad coz the traffic police in indon receive bribes".

I heard the entrance exam of UGM for foreign medical students is real tough.....
Anyway, I know that in KTT this year, there're about 50 students who managed to gain admission to UGM.

I will choose doctors from Malaysia of course. And for Indonesia, it would be okey if the doctor graduated in Gajah Mada or Padjajaran.

i don't care where the doctor is qualified from. as long as he is nice and friendly, knows what he is doing, does the job nicely and can save lives, that qualification paper means nothing to me as a patient.

It really depends on how much the doctor got out of the medical school he or she went to. In all possibility, you could have graduated from a not-well-known medical school yet learned very well through dedication; or you could graduate from supposedly good university but end up with mediocre knowledge and skills. And needless to say, social skill isn't so much about the university one goes to but how nice someone is.

Imagine you are a patient, which type of doctor you would prefer to consult to?
1.) Doctor with good social skill and medical etiquette but mediocre medical knowledge and skills.
2.) Doctor with lousy social skill and medical etiquette but sophisticated medical knowledge and skills.

It depends on what kind of disease it is.
But the problem is, if you are a patient, it's really hard to tell which doctor is good or bad in terms of their knowledge and skills.

Patients will normally go to a particular doctor through recommendation by other patients or doctors... I doubt how many patients actually care where the doctor graduated from, and how many patients actually know about these medical schools...
At first sight, the patient might respond : Wow! Overseas graduate (Or premier university), and nothing else...

Who cares, as long as the doctor can cure my problems. Then again, friendlier but sophisticated doctors will get a return visit from me ;)
