Hi,

Thanks to all of your support. We have finally gotten a supporting boost in terms of news readership for September. A summary of total readings of news and total news posted based on month are as follow:-

April (10 news) 100 reads or views
May (42 news) 248 reads or views
June (62 news) 689 reads or views
July (23 news) 126 reads or views
Aug (17 news) 64 reads or views
Sep (72 news) 360 reads or views

So, I think after nearly 6 months since Recom inception, we have managed to boost the reading habit of quite a lot of Recom frequentists. There have been 226 news posted up to 30th September and 1587 reads or views. So, out of about 230 members that we have, on average, each person reads 6.9 articles within that 6 months due to Recom. It is quite a modest start.

I hope that all of you could help contribute as many good articles as possible that you have found. If you have read a good article, go to Menu and choose Submit News. Share the articles with others and lets benefit together. It would do at least a small bit in creating a knowledge society.

Thank you for the support and I hope the response would increase from time to time.

Besides the news reading statistic, I have also tabulated the statistics for the web links. I have to say that the usage rate is very very low and I hope that you guys could help suggest more popular weblinks and hopefully the utilization rate would increase.

The data is as follow:
MASA and MSD (33 links) 80 hits
Newspaper (18 links) 55 hits
Science ( 2 links) 16 hits
Popular Weblinks ( 4 links) 16 hits
Search Engine ( 3 links) 5 hits
Major Cities in US (14 links) 4 hits
Computer Know. (3 links ) 4 hits
Map Search (3 links) 3 hits
e-Commerce (17 links) 0 hits
Course Websites (44 links) 0 hits

I think the utilization rate especially for the Course websites is saddening. I agree that up to now course websites are only from Cornell but i really hope that you guys could add those course websites from your universities to share with others...

The same with e-commerce. All the popular e-commerce site, from orbitz, ebay, hotwire, priceline, amazon, phonecard4sale etc are in....

Hope that everyone could help add more weblinks and suggest ways to improve the utilization rate.

Hopefully that we could continuously generate more hits and more usage of information and knowledge here and more importantly, more and more people, not only become the end user, but also become the provider of knowledge and information....

As I have been updating more news everyday, I find that the readership rate is very low. Although we are generating about 360 reads in September, this comes up to 12 reads per day only. Although I try to increase the number of new news articles this month, we still experience a huge problem in attracting people to read the news articles.

Hence, I sincerely appeal everyone for idea on how we could attract people to read the news. The news is at very prominent section of this website, so it would not be possible that people are not aware of the news section.

I would hope that someone could suggest to me what types of news to put up in Recom. I have been following news about Malaysia, so most of the news that are posted by me are about news from Malaysia. But there is nothing to stop anyone to submit any news for publishing. I promise to publish any news that is submitted as soon as possible. So, if you find any article that is interesting, just submit the news, or even just provide the link at the shoutbox, I would make sure that the news is added for everyone's reading.

Hope to hear more suggestions.

Thank you.

Hi, just would like to provide the update for October.

We have 166 news posted, and total of 730 reads. It is the highest since before, but I still think that we could improve this way more. Hope more would submit news to us.

April (10 news) 100 reads or views
May (42 news) 248 reads or views
June (62 news) 689 reads or views
July (23 news) 126 reads or views
Aug (17 news) 64 reads or views
Sep (72 news) 360 reads or views

For forum, I do not tally the replies and hits, but we increase by a lot.

In terms of weblinks, we have 256 now, compared to 141 at end of September.

We have also started e-learning with a lot of resources there. Hope that more would contribute and more would utilize the resources in Recom!!!

Thank you everyone for the support!!!

Thanks Chen CHow, especially for the Links at e-Learning and Weblinks.

And thanks for all the support from everyone. It has been a tremendous growth , both in the news, forum, members , etc. We couldn't be happier than that.

Still, we must create some sort of simple projects so that we can cooperate and benefit from it.

I am very happy that we have exceeded last month total hit on news of 730 as of today, 22nd of November... 9 more days to go. So, it looks like the news article has slowly caught on the interests of more people. Hope more people would help supply news articles to be posted.

Would also like to hear opinion on what kind of news articles you guys like to read on? This would enable me to select the articles to be posted. Keep it up the good work, Recom members!!!
