im sitting for the reasoning test on the 1st of december and the subject tests in june next year.
for the subject tests i'll be taking math, US history and world history.
frankly, i am absolutely unprepared at all (dont have time to prepare, actually).
have no idea how the reasoning test is like.
and i plan to study the history subjects on my own.
everyone keeps telling me that SAT is actually "not that tough"
i think they're just trying to sabotage me.

My personal take on this would be that for the verbal paper, it would need quite a solid vocabulary. Perhaps a good resource could be FreeVocabulary.com (http://www.freevocabulary.com) That would give you a bunch of vocabs to learn up.
Do try to prepare early on, and familiarize yourself with the comprehension etc.
For Maths, do get familiarize with the syllabus. That would help you a lot. Typically, it is quite easy, just that you might not have seen some of those topics before, or you might not have taken note of that. So, just a little preparation.
For the multiple choice of the writing paper, it is definitely something that you can prepare and excel. It is mainly on grammar and sentence structure. Once you do a lot of practice, this would more be like second nature to you. So, do try your best.
Hope to see more ReComers sharing resources here, especially since many ReComers have done SAT!

I'm not used to the new format with the addition of the Writing section, but I suppose the Maths and Verbal sections are still the same. In that case, do memorize as much as possible the "SAT words" . Maths is super easy... I think can compare to Form 3 maths bah. Asians usually do very well for the Maths but not so for the Verbal, so emphasize more on Verbal.

If you need to do the commando style, that is if you don't have the time or memory space to memorize the stratospheric amount of words, you can learn how to dissect the words into their root word and affixes and try your best to guesstimate the meaning from the words. But, do that only if you really don't have time to learn the actual meanings of each individual word.
There are several websites that provide free SAT online tests like Princeton Review's site. Try google-ing them up.

Found this post in this blog on typical SAT score for each university.
You can assess it here (http://admitspit.wordpress.com/2006/10/24/typical-sat-scores-for-specific-top-schools/)

My preferred way would be to guess the meaning of the words, if it feels right to me then I will chose it, if not then bye-bye. I hate memorising root words as I deem some to be incorrect. However, my practise scores are not up to standard yet. :(

Hi i took my SAT 1 and 2 earlier in the year and now i need to send my scores to the colleges. What i just realised is that if i request for them to send it now, the three weeks to process my request would put me over the Jan 1 deadline for most of my colleges. Does this really matter, since its only about a week over? Is there any way i can solve this problem, aside from rush reporting, which i preferably want to avoid since some colleges don't accept it and its a lot more expensive (US$26.50 is about RM90!!). Please advise. Thanks!

hey, dont worry about it. even if one is to take the EDIT: january 26 (not dec, sorry) SAT, one can still make it without having to score rush. it's totally unnecessary. they can just put ur app on hold n assess other students' app first, IF i'm not mistaken.
to all class of 2012, cheers! (:
i have zero understandings about SAT. Anyone mind intro me what it is? is it a compulsory for those fifth formers who want to go to foreign country? how is the test conducted?

Go collegeboard.com. As far as I know. You only need it to go US or Singapore.
