Your accommodation oversea, do you pay with your allowance or do JPA pay for you?Depends on where you are going to.

One question for you: do you expect the government to babysit you for the whole duration of the scholarship?

vseehua, I dont mean that.

Cuz I hear some people claimed that the rental is shared by the sponsor and the student, some say its JPA's duty to pay while other like you say that we pay with out allowance.

I am just asking for a clarification, nothing else.

I am referring to Canada btw.

For TNB scholars......

if you live in a university residence, TNB pays for your lodging and the allowance will be halved, ie $400 or so

If you live outside, the allowance will be $800+. That means you have to pay for the rental from your own pocket.

So....if possible live in a catered university residence. You'll get $400 to kick around every month. You'll won't have that much to spare if you were to rent your own room because it is difficult to find a decent $400-a-month room. On top of that, you have to do groceries and utility bills to worry about.

JPA will probably have the same system.

For JPA, I believe with the recent increment in allowance, students are expected to pay for their hostel on their own, at least that's the case for U.S.

For JPA Japan, we pay with our allowance and if I am not mistaken,
JPA will pay on behalf of the students in KOREA.
