Hey guys, I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything of the golden key club other than the things they say in their site?

My friend is thinking of joining it but it cost AU$96 to join.. What's the pros and cons of this? Or it's just another MENSA type organisation?

Not sure about it but have done a quick search on wikipedia.

Hrmm there's a few inconsistencies reported by wikipedia community on the article so it might not be true but it seems that the society has many controversies.

I never really believed in these 'elite' type societies who does nothing but marginalise people. But hey, if it helps the resume I guess there's nothing I can say about it.

I am currently a member of this society and I have to say that I have been totally inactive. GK is pretty much just like any other club/society, only that their members are all in the top 15% scorers of their faculties in their universities. The advantages of joining that I can think of are:
1. Being a member of GK, like Mensa, looks nice on your resume/CV
2. You get to apply for scholarships only offered to GK members
3. GK provides a means for networking which will be handy when searching for jobs

Moreover, the payment for membership is a one-off payment and you will become a member for life, which I guess, is not too bad a deal. =) Depending on what you do with your new membership, it may or may not make a difference in your life...

I see, thanks for the information. But ultimately I think having one line in your resume doesn't show much unless you are active in the club activities, like attending the conferences and stuff to get some networking done.
