It's a sad truth that A levels examinations aren't as hard as it used to be, according to a recent article shown on BBC(if i'm not mistaken)stating the amount of A scorers in A level examinations has raised significantly. Besides, the fact that grammar isn't really taken into account in the marking of A level papers is giving universities headache on deciding which straight A students to take in.(therefore, various entrance examinations such as UKCAT, LNAT, BMAT etc have come to flourish in elite universities such as the oxbridge, according to a newspaper article that i read). The most important tips from me is to practice on LOTS of past year papers and learn the technique of answering those questions. The format of the questions don't change most of the time, however, memorising answers from the mark scheme is strongly not advisable. I've taken 4 units of out 6 for all my four subjects and i'm waiting for my january results to be released by this Wednesday.

Subject wise, i'm taking all the sciences and didn't dare to try out the arts subjects, so i'm afraid i can only speak for the sciences here. Basically, biology's mainly about memorising, Chemistry can be quite tricky sometimes, as it's not as easy as what we studied in SPM anymore. Physics, as always, is considered the toughest A level science subject, so prepare to spend some extra time in your attempt to understand the concepts well. I take Math too, and i would say it's pretty much the same of what we learned in SPM(Add math), so nothing much to shout about.

I agree with TheArtOfMedicine, Past Year Questions.

There is another similar thread to this one.

I'm currently doing my A levels as well and will be sitting for my As this coming may/june 2008. Well, i think whoever is sitting for the exam will be worried abt it cuz it's an external exam. Just do all your past years questions, which is advisable for the subjects that i'm taking.

And by the way, why do you say that the exam in may/june is tougher that the one in oct/nov? i thought it's all the same??
