ReCom Turns 5 on 24th April 2008

ReCom will turn 5 years old on 24th April 2008. That's the day ReCom was officially launched.

It is about 1.5 month from it now. Any idea how we can celebrate on this significant day?

OK, 24th April is Thursday, so we might want to do the celebration on 26th (Saturday) ... if it's a meetup then Klang Valley would be nice ... Penang is okay too ... Actually it depends on who are coming and where they are. And also what the activities will be ...

p/s: btw schye, I cannot thank you enough for having me when I visited japan in 2006. That 2-weeks backpacking trip alone tokyo-osaka-kyoto-hiroshima is the best trip I ever had. お世話になりました！どうもありがとうございました！

Hey why don't we do a video conferencing style gathering instead? Seems like given the experience of some people involved in the recent NMF that we've figured out a good set of free tools for global domination.

Anyway, as usual, I'm the one stuck in Singapore, don't think I'll be back on the 26 April (but back this weekend to sweep grave...) - and also can't find enough Recomers to hang out here too (somehow Recomers here are extremely busy...)

Which software support multi-person video conference? As far as I know Skype only does one to one webcam. Correct me if I am wrong.

I'm not completely clear but maybe someone can shed some light on this. Even the website itlself was up before april 24. As far as i know the only significant thing about 24 is, it is the date chenchow registered for the forum.

Come to think about it, yeah, as far as the website is concerned, it was launched on 01/04/2003 and bachok83 is the first registered member/admin. Not sure the history before that, something about Yusuf (bachok83), Syamsul (masterof_none), Chen Chow (chenchow) and a few other people met on a fateful day in one MSD meeting in Washington. Better ask them for more details ...

I did remember about it on 24th April, when I was at Genting.

It is great to see ReCom still growing, after 5 years.

On 1st April 2003 and 2nd April 2003, masterofnone and bachok83 started coding on ReCom. So, if we talk about actual day ReCom forum was started to be coded, then it is 1st April 2003.

However, the day it was open to public, or rather the day masterofnone and bachok83 spread out the words on ReCom, it was on 24th April 2003, where member no. 3 to no. 28 joined on that day.

Thanks for every ReComer's support to ReCom.org ! Guess none of us ever imagine ReCom would be where it is today. We are talking about 166,000 posts as of now! That's a lot! About average of 91 posts a day for the past 5 years!
