sorry, there might be a bit mistake in my earlier post....here's what I've updated from some reliable sources

fot those who wanna become a teacher, there're majorly 3 pathways, with 3 different tests:

a)Mtest is for those applying Kursus Perguruan Lepas Ijazah(KPLI) under Maktab Perguruan

b)MEDSI is for those applying Ijazah Sarjana Muda Pendidikan/Diploma Perguruan Lepasan Ijazah(DPLI) in IPTA

c)INSAK is for those applying KPLSPM under Maktab Perguruan


so, if you are applying KPLSPM, get the book specially for INSAK test.

I saw one from popular, written by Mok Soon Sang, terbitan Multimedia Sdn.Bhd.
price: RM19.90.

Pretty helpful.....with model tests and tips/current issues/typical questions for interviews.
Definitely a highly-recommended book for those applying for this course=)

insak book?...i thought the insak test was only a psychology test...
wow..out of my mind, we nid to buy the insak book just to prepare us to the interview..really surprising me then...tough...

For kplspm, you will have to sit for the INSAK (Inventori Sahsiah Keguruan) test. There are 135 questions to be answered in 30 minutes. The questions are mostly on testing on your spontaneous reaction when handling a situation. Just like the personality test..

Then you will have 2 rounds of interviews. Individual and group interviews. For the individual interview, there will be 2 interviewers. They will ask about your personal background, why you want to be a teacher, your co-curricular activities, your family, why you choose this course and some other questions. After that, you will have group discussion. Read up the current issues and prepare in Malay and English.

Remember, all PPC and TESL candidates are required to write an English essay on one of two topic choices in 30 minutes. Either story or factual..

From what i heard, INSAK is very important for those who wants to become teacher. Upon failing, no matter how well you perform during interview, you are NOT eligible to get the scholarship.

These are important for teachers' interview:(i think they are REALLY IMPORTANT)
-must be updated in current issues.-bring awareness to students regarding current issues.
-expressive and comfortable in giving out own opinions.-be influential to students
-take care of fluency of language and clarity of speech.-can speak well in front of class
-courtesy(greet everyone, know how to give way, politely disagree/stop ppl from continuosly talking)****-correct students without hurting them
-willing to share.-produce more knowledgeable students
-adequately prepare your pernyataan hasrat.-shows your commitment in becoming a teacher.
-shows leadership quality.-can lead well in class.
-show co-operative value.-co-operate in grooming up students.

If you notice, all the qualities above contribute to your career as a teacher. I think they will evaluate interviewee in accordance to a teacher's quality.

If you really have the urge to get the scholarship, please do ace the abovementioned qualities.

yea...all apply for kplspm(under ppc) are all intend to go overseas..but for the overseas uni, i am not sure whether the gov will choose for us...or we ourself has the right to choose..

If I'm not wrong you're only required to write at most 2 pages.. per essay.. if you choose to do both lah..

Never be afraid to apologise for not knowing something. :wink It's better than making up some nonsensical answer on the spot.

IMHO, it's better if the pernyataan hasrat written is linked to the vision and mission of the kementerian.

SOmething like this:
Bidang perguruan merupakan impian saya sejak kecil lagi. Saya berhasrat melibatkan diri dalam menjana generasi masa depan ./...... bla bla bla............. selaras dengan misi..... bla bla bla bla.....

This can show your awareness towards the progress and mission of the ministry.. ????

Yes, it's just a personality test. Answer it honestly, that's all.. I heard that there are 135 questions to be done in 30 minutes, so you really have to answer based on your REAL answer, not ponder over the right answer as you won't have time to do that.

BM.. The questions were asked in BM, after all.. a bit weird if we rojakkan both languages right? :amuse

Those who aren't in Matric, just head to your interview place as stated..

Political issues.. LoL! I sincerely hoped I don't get asked on this, in case I start rambling on and on and on. :P I doubt they will touch on politics.. then again, some JPA officers did ask on politics.. so.. better safe than sorry. :)

Kementerian tumpu pengukuhan kemahiran melalui kaedah EMS

KEMENTERIAN Pelajaran selesai melaksanakan kursus English for the Teaching of Mathematics and Science (ETeMS) membabitkan kira-kira 122,000 guru mata pelajaran Sains dan Matematik di sekolah rendah dan menengah seluruh negara.

Pengarah Bahagian Pendidikan Guru (BPG), Datin Asariah Mior Shaharuddin, berkata latihan itu dijalankan sejak 2002 sehingga tahun lalu selaras pelaksanaan dasar pengajaran dan pembelajaran Sains dan Matematik dalam bahasa Inggeris (PPSMI).

Berikutan itu, katanya, kementerian kini menumpukan latihan kepada guru terbabit menerusi program bimbingan dan sokongan, English for Mathematics and Science (EMS), mulai 2007.

Bagaimanapun, beliau berkata, pengisian program itu memfokus kepada pengukuhan terhadap sebilangan guru yang sudah mengikuti ETeMS tetapi penguasaan mereka masih perlu dipertingkatkan.

Program ini dijalankan secara on-site di mana guru berkenaan akan mengikutinya di sekolah, antara lain menerusi sistem bimbingan taulan membabitkan kerjasama dan bantuan guru subjek Bahasa Inggeris.

Ini adalah suatu usaha berterusan. Selain itu, BPG turut mengambil inisiatif membina modul khusus kepada mereka.

BPG menyediakan garis panduan penggunaan modul pembelajaran akses kendiri kepada guru berkenaan mengikut tahap penguasaan masing-masing.

Tahap itu meliputi tiga modul iaitu permulaan, pertengahan dan lanjutan dengan tema tertentu yang perlu diikuti guru terbabit.

Dalam konteks ini, pihak sekolah sendiri berperanan mengenal pasti guru yang perlu mengikuti EMS, katanya kepada Berita Harian di Putrajaya.

Berkaitan perkembangan itu, Asariah berkata, kementerian kini lebih menjurus ke arah pelaksanaan latihan dalam perkhidmatan untuk meningkatkan profesionalisme guru secara berasaskan sekolah.

Sambil menjelaskan pelbagai kaedah digunakan dalam pelaksanaan itu seperti sistem bimbingan taulan dan modul pembelajaran akses kendiri, katanya, langkah terbabit antara lain bertujuan mengurangkan kadar ketiadaan guru di sekolah ekoran menyertai kursus seumpama di luar.

they just wanna know ur character, and whether it suits to be a teacher.

there are some tricky questions but i personally think that actually both answers can be accepted ... judge this yourself:
~ Ada pengalaman pahit, perlunya kadang kala mengingat kembali.
Answer given : Tidak setuju

~ Biar lambat selesaikan kerja, asalkan sempurna.
Answer given : Tidak setuju

~ Jika saya ditimpa nasib malang, saya akan berdoa.
Answer given : Tidak setuju

~Untuk mendapat sesuatu yg saya idamkan, saya rela melakukan apa-apa kerja.

well, i actually bought two. One is the 19.90 one...another is 6,90...its sort of like evercise only...well, i think you all should buy and try out the question....the another book has some notes behind that might really help during the interview. It is about education's history...m'sia's history...there were some current issue as well...it was published in MARCH 2008 so it is all up to date....

I am referring to the INSAK preparation book.....with no offence... frankly, I disagree with the publication of this book. If, this test can be prepared, then the nature or intention of the test is then demolished/destroyed. The INSAK test is to test your suitability to become a teacher. Are you really a material te be trained as a teacher? You will know after taking the test. It's a pure psychological test.

One question of mine, do you still want to proceed to become a teacher if you know your characteristic is not suited to be one? Or put it this way, do you want to FORCE yourself to become a teacher in exchange for an oversea education eventhough you don't want to be and not suit to be?

Maybe, you will lose out a chance if you didn't prepare. But then again, you shouldn't be able to prepare. Will you want to join the wrong field of career?

Better bring, just in case, but if they don't ask for it then I think it's not required.

Why?

Because all the money in the world won't help you become a teacher. :wink Even if you're a billionaire, if they think you're not qualified as a teacher you can't become one. That's one I think they specifically chose NOT to put 'Slip Gaji' as one of the 'must bring' items, unlike JPA, Petronas etc.

My opinion, of course.

That one I don't think so, that was for JPA.

However, better play safe. :) Just bring it, if nothing is mentioned about them, don't need include them among your other documents.

Again I'll reiterate.. that this is a TEACHING scholarship.. it's different from all the other scholarships.. it's unlikely they'll take your family background into consideration..

i say tibet, olympic, global warming, inflation, and rise of price then after all, the interviewer says : i got a very good inpression on u. if u can answer my last question, then i m satisfied.
the question is : do u think male teacher better or female better.. i say depends and bla bla bla.
finally they ask me to promise them become a good teacher. then i say no problme. then finish..... i feel so hapy and satisfied about my overall performance :P:P

well...comes to my interview sharing experience time!!

i am not only the first batch to be interviewed..but also the first to be called for personal interview...
actually being the first person to be interviewed is quite nervous but i managed well ..:)
the interviewer bombarded me with lots of question like why u wanna become a teacher , why u choose the subjects, if u become a headmaster one day, hw would u ensure the teachers in ur school paying more attention on class rather than his or her private tuition...there are indeed ,many cases where teaches nowadays are too 'care' about their private tuition rather than put their efforts in teaching in gov school..

the mtest is sometimes quite tricky...but it is a personality test that required us to finish 135 question in 30 minutes time..so there is no problem to face the test...just follow ur gout and intuition when facing such a situation(most questions are based on situation-solving skill)...and finish the question without thinking much..:)

for the group interview, everyone just argue the point and put it well into discussion..
the title for my group is 'is there neccesary for a student to take more than 12 subjects?'
everyone gives the point and discuss with each others(not discuss with the interviewer)..just relax urself and make sure u foster a good relationships with ur group members as it will help a lot in ur group discussion..just discuss the topics among ur group members and the interviewers job is just sit there enjoying ur gruop discussion..:Pbasically 5 ppl in each groups..

lastly, the essays -english written test..we r given 2 titles.choose 1 and finish it in 30 minutes time..minumum 120 words..the essays title are balanced diet and ideal teacher..
well,,,the interview indeed awesome...and tough...the time taken for the interview for my group alone exceed 2 and a half hours...

Yup.I applied 4 bio.My group supposed 2 b 6 ppl bt only 2 came.So,group interview became pairs interview.:laugh.Bt my group interview questions really tough:beautiful n conducive environment create a positive learning atmosphere...........something like this la............vy long questions n i'v no ideas about it.......all the points i wanted 2 present was pointed out by my members........haiz..........anyway,the interview went quite smooth......gud luck 2 others!!:)

KUALA LUMPUR: The school environment is set to undergo a drastic change. It may even resemble a university in three years ? that is if the National Education Blueprint 2006-2010 is successfully implemented.

Instead of doing heaps of homework, primary and secondary students will be encouraged to do their work using PowerPoint presentations in class. There will be more interactive work.

The Education Ministry?s Chief Inspector of Schools, Alimuddin Mohd Dom, said yesterday this was one of the ways to make students more creative and innovative.

"Students will be attending more public speaking classes so that they can build on their confidence and communications skills," he said.

For instance, he said, students would have to talk on various topics during public speaking classes to brush up on their language and presentation skills.

"When fully implemented, it (the blueprint) will result in a massive shift in the education system with primary and secondary students becoming more confident and creative."The blueprint will help produce well-rounded students. By the time they enter universities, they will have no problems adapting to the system there, and later on in the job market.

"If the blueprint is properly implemented, tuition will not be necessary as the improved education system would ensure excellent students are produced," he added.

The ministry?s director of Education Planning and Research Division Datuk Dr Salleh Hassan said students from secondary and primary schools were known to be dependent and rigid.

"That will change once the blueprint is implemented. We want them to be more independent."

Citing an example, he said the blueprint would produce students who will be on par with those from Singapore.

"I take Singapore as an example since it is our closest neighbour. Compare their Form Five students to ours, and you will find that they differ in many ways. They are more international in their thinking, while ours are not.

"In five years, I think this will change and more of our students will be on par with them."

Salleh also said that the gap between rural and urban schools would be reduced once better facilities, as promised in the blueprint, were made available.

for the 1st one, i take it(or interpret) as terpilih mengikuti KPLSPM.. then i relate to what i chose..(my course)

2nd question, still not yet written.

I type my answers/esei in a computer 1st.. then calculate the number of lines needed after measuring with a normal fullscap paper with the typed version in the computer(my handwriting size is compatible to font size 12). print it out nicely then copy nicely.. handwriting must be neat and not too small..

one piece of advice- better get to know your group members before you go in... it really helps...

although i did not attend the interview... but many of my friends who have undergone told me that actually the interviewers want to see how u are going to explain your answers and defend your point, that's y they will shoot u with many questions...

this is actually told by the interviewer THEMSELVES to the candidates (my friends told me)... they wanna see how well u can 'protect' your opinion and belief...

Then the INSAK test began. This is the time i realised the important of a watch. Before the interview, i even declined to bring the watch when asked by mum because my handphone can display time. Why should i bring an unuseful thing right? No, i was wrong. There was no clock in the interview room and I had to rush to complete the 135 question. Thankfully, there was still 5 minutes after i completed the test.

After that, comes the group interview. For my panel, 6 student should come, but out of the number, only the chinese guy and me turned up. For the B and C panel, the situation even worse. There were only two malay girl turn up for each panel respectively. The attendance rate was really pathetic. And think, how should both of the girls conduct their group discussion? Therefore, four of us formed a group.

The group discussion was mainly about leadership. There were two question written: " Based on your experience and observation, what is a good leader should exhibited?"(not really remember) and "what is the advice you want to give to your junior about the leadership?". At first, I did not really have point in my mind. I was getting quite nervous when i saw others joiting down the point furiously on their paper. Oh ya, remember to bring your own paper and pen. They won't provide us. Fortunately before the discussion started, i braved myself to get some paper from my bag and i give some of the paper to the chinese guy.

Something struck my head suddenly. Oh ya, I could tell them my position in the school and eleborate the point, such as how to lead a society etc. In this way, I could boost my position in my school as well.

I was satisfied with my performance although i did not done well. I liked to be the opposition sometimes. When others were saying about the leader should be a joker, I told them sometimes meeting should not take to much about personal thing. When others were saying leader should listen to others opinion, I told them leader should also be able to make decision on their own, if the leader want to take everyone opinions, the final decision could not come out.

For the individual interview, it was the two to one interview. The chinese guy went in first. The interviewer asked him about the discipline in school. For me, the interviewer asked my about national service, no introduce-myself beginning. Then the interviewer asked me about how the mentor-mentee helps me in teaching(i wrote this in the penyataan hasrat). This one, i told them i about i related the concept with the daily life to help my mentee to understand. I also say that this help me to gain passion on teaching.

Then, they asked me about tuition:
You have good result. Do you go for tuition?I am from MRSM, so i didnt go tuition. ( i should elaborate more: MRSM is a boarding school)
What do you think of tuition? Advantages and disadvantages?
(Tell them both..)

(I forgetted what they asked in the middle)

Last question :But when you become teacher, you will give tuition also...I dont think I will have time to give tuition, I would have many activities in school and need to take care for my child (?) . Besides that, I am satisfied with the teacher's salary.
After that is the english writing test. With no watch, I still managed to finish it in 20 minutes.
The essay question is " My family" and " How to be a great speaker". At first i was wondering which to write, then i choose to write MY FAMILY. There had been a long time i didnt touch english essay, therefore, i only used one bombastic word in the essay. Quite bad..

They asked me about my favorite football club, told me to sing for then. the singing quite bad because I already forgot the song "twinkle2 little star" but they helped me with the singing. overall, my interview finished in 3 hours.

For me, i put my ori cert on left hand side and the photastat one on right hand side of the clear folder... and i also prepare one whole set of photostated ones and put it in a paper file...and the interviewers took the one in the paper file and he also refer my certs on the clear folder during the interview session...

they will check both and remember to sah all your documents...because one of the member didn't sah his document and the interviewer ask him to take away and ask him dad sah...just put side by side in a clear folder....they wil take the cert they want...they wont take all...

well.. maybe because I took TESL primary school ( need to teach children that absolutely like this kinda song ).

Actually, there is no use if u were to write both..i believe that the questions in both pernyataan hasrat are almost the same..
for question no 2 in pernyataan hasrat: pengalaman berinteraksi dengan kanak-kanak and the other 1 : pengalaman dalam bidang perguruan..

maybe these two sentences seem a bit different but 1 thing to be noticed is when u choose 'pengalaman dalam bidang perguruan' to write, u definitely will touch the issue of dealing with children when u teach..experience in teaching profession is always deal with teaching as well as communicate(berinteraksi) with students.

so no matter how different u write in both pernyataan hasrat, the point will come to the same thing u mention..

for my interviewer,though many of the interviewee(include me) bring their form 1~5 certs to them, they say it in clear that only form 4 and form 5 certs will be accepted..
yes..the duration for writting an essay of not less than 120 words is 30 minutes.

Fuh!! Quite okla, but the intervierwer don't ask me any current issues, they just ask me how to apply chemistry and IT in learning cause my course is chemistry..

I think different interviewers is different. Like mine, the interviewers dont allow us to jot down any notes on the paper and was given 3 mintues to think only....but i heard some other friends said that their interviewer giv them to take their own paper and pen to jot down the points....

Individual Interview:
(Before we started, the interviewers, 2 guys were quite impressed about my SPM results as well as co-cu achievements. eh, don't compare with me lah.. be yourself!)Introduction first, mainly they want to know about your family background(parents, siblings). Then they asked me many questions. What is interesting was they asked me to demonstrate how to teach maths to special students.. Then kept bugging me questions like, "Are you sure you want to become a teacher and Why?; What qualities does a good teacher must have?; Is teaching profession your first choice?" I never knew that i'll be answering so smoothly.. Current issue-Food Crisis, Education issue-Why nowadays nobody wants to become a teacher? EDIT: I was asked to conclude and i mentioned i hope to get KPLSPM, and they "promised" will make my "dream" come true! haha..

Group Interview:
The main title was about food poisoning. We were required to elaborate/give opinions on the causes and ways to prevent from recurring.

English Writing Test: Since it differs every day, Week 1 Day 4-either A caring society or Picnic

INSAK test: I did not manage to finish answering.. simply shade those last 5-8 questions.. a reminder: do as FAST as you can! Some interesting ones like your bro dyed his hair but is not allowed(in school i guessed), either you advise him to dye back or tell mum.. funny!


Others:
My group consists of 4 members. All of us come from Perak, 2 from Taiping(chinese girls), 1 from Teluk Intan(malay girl) and i'm from Sitiawan(the only BOY!). 4 of us applied for Pendidikan Khas. All the 3 girls secured matrikulasi.. that make me look so special.. haha.. The group interview din't went smoothly, but the interviewers will always say that "all of you give us a good discussion." just to calm u down. I had INSAK test 1st, followed by English Writing test, then Group interview and lastly Individual interview.. Actually there were another 2 girls also applying for Pendidikan Khas but were splitted out from our group as they came late for the tests(they registered earlier, but hanging around forgot about time is running). So, don't ever be late, even after you already have registered!

EDIT: another thing is why i couldn't finish my INSAK test: the interviewer mumbled left "?? minuteS".. so i thought is either 2 minutes minimum/ 5 minutes maximum. having about 8 questions left, i was confident to finish them on time. But a few seconds later, the interviewer said "time's UP!"... later i found out that he meant left one(1) MINUTE ONLY! and the same person translated tandatangan as "sign" instead of "signature". haha..

For me mine was all the same course...but on the day for my interview there's another room just for students applying for Bac. for Chem...which means there's 2 separate rooms , for 2 different courses ...and its according of the choices...

now i have question pulak...one of my interviewers actually ask whether i applied for any other scholarships or not after he heard my SPM results...then i said i apply for JPA too and went for the interview...then he ask what course i applied for (this is one of the questions i was hoping he wont ask...S**T)...so i answered dentistry...but i also mention i am hoping to specialised to become paediatric dentist as i like to deal with kids and teenagers..*phew* did u ppl face the same situation like me???

diz is bout dat pernyataan hasrat...u can see da terms are different 4 both question...bidang keguruan n profesion perguruan....i took a long time 2 understand both terms...so, diz is what i had figure out...

-bidang keguruan:diz term means if u hav a personality to be a good teacher,instructor,tutor,lecturer or anything dat related 2 teaching...
eg:after spm, u offer a tuition 2 ur juniors...u r not an official teacher but as u do da teaching stuff, u hav involved in 'bidang keguruan'...

-profesion perguruan:diz term tell u to be a teacher..only an official teacher at school...not a tutor or lecturer...more specific n detail...bcoz, not everybody dat interested in bidang keguruan, will interested in profesion perguruan...n sometimes, there r people dat suit in bidang keguruan but cant suit into profesion perguruan...after u be a teacher at school, then only u hav involved in profesion perguruan...

p/s:diz is from my perspective...maybe, all of u think dat it is same but i think its not..

out of 6 people only 3 turned out including me and i applied for chemistry
the panels are nice, there were two of them - a man and a woman

it starts at 8.00 and ends at about 11.40 more or less...

Nope, they also asked the infamous question which is why you want to be a teacher and is it your first choice??

And then they asked how do you want to be creative in your teaching, using ICT and outdoor activities..
Lucky 4 me they didn't ask about current issues and bla bla bla... hehe..

They also asked if i have hidden talents like singing and playing music instruments.. If you have the talents, then you have the bonus point.

I included testimonial/surat akuan besides the sijil berhenti sekolah. BM Lisan, English Oral(if u can't speak well but got very good grades, becareful!), Peka i think not so important..

U can put both.. put as many ko-ku certs to IMPRESS them!

just the sijil berhenti sekolah and testimonial

if u wanna include the oral test cert, include it after ur SPM result....(oral test certs are optional, except if u are applying language courses like TESL, u think it can help u....)

PEKA won't help u much actually....they won't look at that

The arrangement of certs should follow the arrangement stated in the letter that u have printed out when you are shortlisted for the interview. Needless to mention here i think..

another thing is, the arrangement of certs pasted outside the interview room in my interview venue(institut perguruan tuanku bainun) are the same as stated in the letter you printed out from the KPLSPM web.

1.if you don't explain the details, the interviewers will further bombard you with questions relevant to the topic. I mean if you speak just a little bit, then the interviewers want more from you, they'll guide you with questions. Just answer accordingly.

ANOTHER EDIT for my interview sharing experience: They(interviewers) asked me about how to improve english language proficiency among students and what are the roles of government, school, public, private sector, etc..

2.Introduction, they just want to know about your family. I just mentioned my parents, their occupations; my siblings and what are they doing now. that's all. They are not so interested in getting to know your previous school, SPM results, ko-ku achievements as they already had the information on their hands(the certs+the online form we filled in).

3.If the person got Program Matrikulasi, and the interview date is before 12th May, that person should go to the interview venue as stated in the offer letter. Otherwise, the person can have interview conducted in his/her Kolej Matrikulasi, meaning ignore the place of interview stated in the letter.

well, actually you won't remember/recall much about the questions asked.. you must be really fast.. look at my example.. just because of misunderstanding of the time left, i couldn't finish a few questions.. i'm the one to be blamed of course..

What u need is determination. Don't ragu-ragu when answering. And shade the answers one by one following the order(like SPM loh), like u got answer for question 1 is A, then shade first.. i think you won't be able to remember all the answers for 135 questions. you don't have the permission to mark answers in the questions paper.

if you are a girl, you can wear baju kurung(safer) or maybe blouse+long slacks, or you can observe what normally school teachers wear to school.. definitely not very fashionable+too exposed(sexy)..

a guy should be easy.. but i noticed only few guys applied for teaching. Just wear shirt with tie+long slacks+leather shoes..

Dress formal lah..(all programmes should wear the same dress code..won't be u applied for maths, must wear outfits with numbers around.. haha)

lol...herm is my asistant...she can ans all the question bout me....wakakaka....jk....well, my interview quite ok la...I manage to finish INSAK right on time...then group interview which was not very excellent because the other members couldnt really speak good english...seem like ROJAK.,...mix with a lot of BM....then individual interview was fun...haha...then essay part...hmm..hmm....i wrote on the topic " my fave filmstar"...very easy ques but i duno whether i wrote it well enough or not...haha...
